The trees loomed overhead, casting an ominous shadow over the lively brook as it bubbled past. Varian watched with mild curiosity as a hapless mouse got caught in the current and was pulled downstream at a pace that must have seemed supremely fast to the poor rodent. It's traumatic journey came to an abrupt end, however, when it bashed against a stone, it's failing ending almost instantly. The voiny waded into the brook and lifted the dead creature out, laying it on the dirt behind the waterway and cleaning his paws. His fur looked almost black when it was wet. He thoughtlessly began to groom his pelt when he heard a twig snap nearby. Company? He wasn't expecting anyone, but who was to say what Tiveronah had in store for him today?
The creature that came up to him was small in size, but the way that she carried herself more than made up for her compact frame. She was loud and quite frankly, few people tolerated her very much. However, the creature was beautiful, even more so than her aunt through whom the cyd gained her power. Like Kerrigan, her pelt was orange in nature, but unlike her aunt's cream coat, Embry's own fur looked as if she was coated in a deep-roaring fire. The royal orange had been taken to an extreme with her, which made her even more stuck up than perhaps she should have been. After all, she looked more like the royal line than the Tsar of the group.
Her deep orange pelt was perhaps the most recognizable in this way. It was long and flowing, and it meant one thing and one thing only: bad news. You see, the feline had never been seen as the most pleasant to be around, and now that she had finally been promoted to full cyd status, she had become even more intolerable by nature.
"The peasants of BrookClan hunt so poorly for themselves that they have to rely on waterlogged carrion, I see?" she chirped, her lips twisted into a smirk. "How sad."

"Not so, my lady," replied Varian with a slight bow of his head. "In fact, it is because we have been so blessed by the Gods that we can allow prey to walk to its own death without concern, even as leafbare grows near." The tom glanced around subtly, trying to ascertain if Embry was alone or flanked by others. He had no reason to instigate any conflict in the upper echelons of society at the moment, and enjoyed the temporary peace that had found him that season.
srry ! my turnover rates can be quite garbage sometimes esp since we are at the middle of the sem !
The cat scoffed, the noise almost sounding as if it was coming out of her nose more than her actual throat. The gods. It was a foolish belief system, according to Embry. Power did not come from a greater being or sets of beings. It did not rain because a god felt moved. Such logic was asinine to her. However, Embry could never say this out loud, especially being one of the felines who were of the rank of Cyd. She was hauty and annoyingly stuck up, but she wasn't stupid.
"Is that so?" Her eyes rolled slightly, before rolling her shoulders back. "If it is, what reason could you possibly have to drag it out of the water? Is there not anything better you could be doing?"
