Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
“You made her sound very fierce. I am sure if she disliked the name she would have let you know.” His smile didn’t reach his eyes. “Does she sleep with you and your mate in your den? It must become quite crowded, and I always thought owls to like open sky.” Raijin looked around the cavern once more and sighed.
"Normally, they do but she doesn't always spend every moment here in the cavern. Occasionally she will sleep outside of the cavern but will always come when I call her. She slept with us when she was young but now she's too big. She sleeps wherever she pleases." Flamingstar explained, leading him further into the cavern.
(What if her mate comes in and starts questioning her about Raijin? XD It could make things awkward! I could tag faith?)
Raijin nodded as he listened. So she wasn't always around - that was reassuring, but now he was going to spend every minute of the foreseeable future looking over his shoulder. As if he didn't have enough to worry about. Now there was an owl swooping through the skies, perhaps spying on his movements, perhaps waiting for the last moment to strike. Could he take an eagle in a fight? Raijin fancied his chances, but the aftermath would be problematic.
"I'll show you the prisoner camp." She responded leading him toward the back of the cavern toward her throne. Though, before she reached the throne, she suddenly veered left and an entering to a separate room of the cavern stretched well above their heads and two guards stood watch. She nodded to each of them as she passed through the entering. The other room was almost as equally large as the main cavern but not quite as big. Holes lined the cavern walls, each naturally carved out by centuries of running water although they were now dried up. Each hole was a den where the prisoners stayed. Toward one side of the cave was a small trickle of running water where the prisoners had water. A measly prey pile was set beside it. "This is the prisoner camp. You will be staying here for five sunsets before your trial. If you pass the trial, you'll be welcomed into Nightclan as a full member."
(Faith, if you want to join in with Kotori, you can!)
(Ratnest got chased out of NightClan by Bleakwind because he thinks he killed his daughters. He is currently in Renegade Regime seeking help from his parents)
Raijin glanced around the cavern, less than thrilled by the arrangements, but then again this was a prison. It was more comfortable than the Regime's prisons, so he couldn't complain too much. There was even water and prey waiting for him.
"Five sunsets?" he echoed in relief. That wasn't long at all. Even without knowing what the trial entailed, Raijin was confident he would pass. "Am I to stay in here all five days, or may I leave and hunt for food?" he wondered.
Flamingstar hesitated on her answer. She had made her own mate and his sister stay their full nights in the prison camp. What would they think if she allowed him to wonder? "I suppose if you also hunted for the clan, I don't think it would be an issue..." She responded at last, wandering if she would regret this decision. She didn't want to lose Raijin by keeping too tight of a leash on him. She had only just got him back into her life. She would have to make sacrifices and play favorites to keep him around.
Now Raijin smiled that familiar rich grin. "Thank you. I want to ingratiate myself to your clan and prove to them I am worthy... or at least, that I'm trying to be." She was taking a risk by bringing him into the clan, he knew; if he was anything less than splendidly self-sufficient and honorable, it would be a betrayal of her. Raijin would not let her down.
Flamingstar returned the smile and brushed against him. "It's good to have you back. I have no doubt that you will win my clan over. You'll be a Nightclan warrior in no time."
Raijin's purr reverberated deep inside his chest. "I've spent too long on my own. It will be nice to have a clan at back and a friend at my side." He had found group life stifling, it was true, especially once he was the Commander. He thought that clan rules were far too inflexible and the cats inside of them could be tedious, but sometimes he needed an army to defend him. The Regime wouldn't dare come looking to lock him up again while he was with Flamingstar.
Besides, it was nice to be here with her again, even if he had to jump through some trivial trials to prove himself. Not all clan cats were that bad.
He considered the question seriously. Raijin had been his name for a very long time, but sometimes a change was due. If he was going to hide his identity, it was necessary; he couldn't flaunt his escape for too long.
"I think I would," he replied at last, "if you were the one to give it to me."
"Are you saying you want me to choose your name for you?" She looked at him with surprise in her turquoise eyes. A lot of pressure came with choosing a name for someone. Of course she chose Creampuff's name but she was her adopted daughter and Flamingstar knew Creampuff had hated her previous name.
Raijin looked surprised as well, his brow furrowing as he met her gaze. “I thought that was how the clans worked,” he admitted, “the leader has to choose your name. But if I’m wrong, or if you don’t want to, I can choose my own.”
"Well, of course. We choose the warrior name but the parents usually pick the first name of their kit. I don't usually get asked to change someone's name. One they had been born with except for Creampuff but...she's my daughter and she hated her previous name." Flamingstar responded, understanding how he could have misunderstood the naming ceremonies. "I usually don't have to put much thought into it. Claw, fur, berry. Anything could be used as a completed warrior name." She shrugged. "I just have to look at something and decide. Coming up with a full name is the challenge but I'm up for a challenge if you so wish."
Creampuff? She had given her daughter the least-threatening name he'd ever heard. Not exactly the type of name to make the other warriors quiver in their skins. "I understand now. I don't want to make a special exception for me, then." Raijin smiled. "I don't have a mother to come up with my name, but I can come up with one myself."
Raijin had spent a lot of serious time considering his name before now. Ominous and forthcoming, dangerous, he wanted a name with an edge. It was easy to find.
“Stormreign.”
The storm was a clear reference to the god he was named for initially, and the reign of chaos he once wrought upon the clans. It was just dramatic enough to amuse the tomcat.
