Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Fallpaw waited at the edge of the burrow she had sent her ferret into to bring back food. Inside she knew there were several rabbits, and she stood by the other exit. Of course there were other exits, but the hope was that the rabbits would flee from her ferret and into her waiting paws. Suddenly a racket could be heard from underground, and a rabbit came shooting towards her. She leapt killing it quickly, her ferret appearing not long after with a much younger rabbit grasped in it's jaws "Good job" she purred ruffling the fur on it's head happy to have her first successful hunt with ferret. Some had thought she was crazy for even trying, but this just proved that she was onto something.
Ever since her birth mother had come to DayClan, she had made herself scarce refusing to even sleep in camp for a long time, only returning to deposit the food she had caught before fleeing back out into the territory. It wasn't that she hated Autumngossamer and Lovesmitten, they seemed nice enough and their story was sad. BUt she didn't feel anything for them, except for perhaps a little sympathy. Autumngossamer may have birthed her, but she wasn't and never would be her mother. Those SunClan cats that came to DayClan with them? Well she couldn't help but feel even less connection with them. It all seemed to forced and awkward, and even though everyone was pretending and making themselves smiles she could see the hurt in their eyes. The hurt in Autumngossamer's eyes when she refused to even interact with them. It's that hurt that she was trying to avoid, she couldn't give them what they needed, couldn't say the words they wanted to hear.
"Nice work ferret queen," Autumngossamer complimented when she placed down her own catch nearby. She had been out hunting, it had been forever since she'd taken up the sport. "Are you hungry? You can share some of my prey with me," She said in a babying voice, that probably came off insulting until noticing where Autumngossamer was looking, which was at the ferrets.
Fallpaw had run off after the gathering and since then hadn't returned to camp. Apparently that was just a thing Fia Cendrillion and Goldenphantom were okay with? Which was weird, because she would literally never allow any member of her family to just rough it out in the wilderness outside of camp. Like this was their daughter and sure she didn't want to talk about it, but it's kind of a moms job to force uncomfortable conversations. But it wasn't her job so she had just left it alone, only making sure to check up at a distance that she was doing alright. Today was pure happens chance that she even ran into her after her hunt.

Fallpaw
DayClan Animal Whisperer
The Seductive
Fallpaw stiffened, slowly turning to look at Autumngossamer before snapping her gaze back in the opposite direction her tail sweeping and pulling Sprout back between her paws "We catch our own food" she retorted keeping her back to Autumngossamer and picking up the rabbit that she had caught. At least Sprout never made her uncomfortable. Life was easier out here, with just the two of them. No expectations and uncomfortable silences. She could just hunt, sleep, and repeate.
"You can, I just always love the luxury of not having to, but if you prefer it props for you. I'm so egocentric I wouldn't mind if someone fed me my own prey," Autumngossamer laughed, "See you around Fallpaw."
When Fallpaw didn't want anything to do with her as a mom it hadn't hurt her in the slightest. If anything she was relieved, it would have hurt everything inside of her if she robbed Goldenphantom and Fia Cendrillion of the kits they raised and loved together. But seeing Fallpaw uncomfortable, living outside of her clan, her only friend a ferret? That was an issue, that again, wasn't really her problem, but why wasn't Goldie or Fia talking Fallpaw through this? She would be living in this clan now, would Fallpaw just always live outside of it because of her?
Autumngossamer walked into camp placing her prey down in the freshkill pile before spotting Goldenphantom, "Goldie!" She called out to her before approaching. She lowered her voice, leaning closer so the conversation would be for Goldenphantom's ears only, "Hey Fallpaw's been living out in the forest for a while. She seems really uncomfortable around me, I was thinking maybe if she had a mother daughter talk with you she'd feel better? I know how awful it feels to be uncomfortable in your own clan. If I make her feel anything close to the way I felt around the Sun God I don't want to confront her, but I think maybe you should. She doesn't need to talk to me, but I definitely want to be able to live in the same clan with her without her needing to jump through hoops to avoid even walking past me if that's what's going on here."

Goldenphantom was, well, overwhelmed. It was no real excuse for letting Fallpaw stay out there for so long, but it was what happened. Camp was constantly abuzz thanks to the new Sunclan refugees, and whenever she wasn't taking care of something they needed, she was out with her battalion. For as much as she thrived in the activity, it was also clear the Immortal Council member had been ran ragged. The tired smile on her face slipped a little when Autumngossamer came and gave her yet another thing to do. Goldenphantom looked down briefly at her paws before looking up and nodding. "Yeah. I was admittedly hoping she would come back and talk to one of us sooner, but I should have done something sooner. I'll go talk to her." For as tired as she sounded, her voice held a subtle strength as she rose to her paws once more.
Autumngossamer reached out her paw, placing it over Goldenphantom's shoulder, "Raising kits and maintaining a balance of work is hard, I get it. I had kits before this litter and they gave me a lot of practice for this one. This is your first litter, you'll get the hang of it too," She promised.
For Autumn it had taken a lot of willpower all by herself to get through raising her first litter of daughters. She had felt like a failure of a mom, not loving them instantly, not having any maternal instinct, like there had to be something wrong with her. Instead of playing with her kits like she pictured she would sleep in feeling sorry for them for having her as a mom. That had been a hard pit to climb out of without any emotional support outside of her husband or any medicine. The only way to describe how she got out of it was she had to decide one day that she was going to raise a happy family. Determination without letting herself wonder for too long if she was doing a good job. She spent one on one time with each of the girls, it was as mandatory as it was to be soothsayer.
"If you need some support along the way let me know. Fallpaw's not far though, you can follow my scent trail."

Goldenphantom couldn't help but still feel bad. It was hard, but she felt like she wasn't putting in the effort enough. She needed to take that prerogative, to try and spend 1 on 1 time with each of them. They were growing up, and as much as she didn't want them too, she couldn't stop it. And now as they were getting older, finding that time would only get harder and harder. "Thank you. I'd better start putting in that effort now, before I can't." Even as the two were best friends, Goldenphantom still dipped her head to her. "I should try by myself first though, I think."
Autumngossamer was right, her trail was easy to follow and it didn't take long for her to spot Fallpaw and her ferret. She waved her tail in greeting but didn't approach her right away. More waiting on an invitation or anything to confirm if she felt like talking at all. racer

Fallpaw
DayClan Animal Whisperer
The Seductive
Fallpaw had taken her catch, and moved under the roots of a tree to enjoy it. The small ferret was scurrying around at her paws taking it's own share of the meal for its contribution to the hunt. Luckily both of them quite enjoyed the taste of rabbit, it made it rather easy to feed her companion. She had finally started to calm down after her run in with Autumngossamer, but the scent of Goldenphantom on the wind was already enough to make her uncomfortable. It really didn't take much to connect the two encounters. She flicked an ear towards her, before standing up and picking up her catch to go bury what remained of it.

Goldenphantom treaded carefully. Maybe she was more nervous about this then Fallpaw, with the way her heart threatened to thud out of her chest. Though she had a feeling it wasn't quite the case, cause as soon as Fallpaw seemed to see her, she retreated back towards the tree. She bit her lower lip, trying not to let it hurt her. They were growing up though, she needed to do something. So the golden tabby slowly climbed up the hill, keeping her distance from her daughter and the ferret and waiting till she was done burying her catch to speak. "Fallpaw, are you up to talking for a bit?" Her voice still held that sing-song wonder it usually did.

Fallpaw

The Seductive
Fallpaw shrugged her shoulders "Do what you want" she murmmered. It wasn't very welcoming, but the fact that she didn't just out right reject her mother or take of was a good sign.

Goldenphantom nodded, slowly going up the hill. It was like she was approaching a skittish kit, worried it was going to run off and hide where she couldn't reach them again. She let Fallpaw and her ferret have their space, eyes softening a bit as she looked to them. Fallpaw was the only one that became an Animal Whisperer, the only one Golden didn't really know the training for. But seeing how well she was doing with the ferret made her proud of her. She laid down on the grass, pulling her limbs underneath her, relaxing just enough to show she wasn't gonna jump up suddenly. They both knew why Golden was there, but she was curious. A little slow, soft. "How are you and Sprout doing?"

"Good..." she mewed reluctantly, trying to skirt around the issue for as long as possible "Sprout is getting very good at hunting rabbits with me. Between the two of us we always catch plenty of food to bring back to camp" she looked down at her paws, still avoiding her mother's gaze even as she settled down "Before you know it, the pile is going to be so full that Glowstar will have to accept Sprout"

"I've noticed the extra rabbits in the fresh kill pile. They're all from you, though? That's amazing, dear." Goldenphantom was genuine in her compliment, almost too much. She just wanted to scoop Fallpaw up and kiss her. But instead, she forced herself to stay her ground, looking down at her own paws. "You've really put Glowstar in a tough position, but I'm sure she'll accept him. I'm really proud of you." It was one of those things she didn't have much hope of understanding. Animal Whisperer was not for her, but she was fascinated with how far Fallpaw had managed to get.

"Not all of them, but a lot of them" she began grooming Sprout, cleaning the dirt from their hunt from her snowy white pelt "When Glowstar realizes how much ferrets can help the clan, I am sure that she will come around" besides she would have to. StarClan had given her a job to do, and she wasn't going to allow some irrational fear stop her from doing so

Goldenphantom could only steal glances of Fallpaw grooming Sprout. It was enough, for now. "I'm sure she will. But, you know. That irrational fear is just that. Irrational. Glowstar knows it doesn't make sense, but cannot stop it. I'll stand behind you for Sprout and other ferrets to be recognized, but it's not very likely that irrational fear will go away. All the better if she does, but if not, try and understand where she's coming from." It was going to be a struggle, especially to try and stay in the middle of the conflict. Fallpaw deserved to be recognized for the work she put in, but Glowstar could and still be afraid of ferrets.
Goldenphantom toyed with a piece of grass before deciding she was the one that had to pull the trigger. "Fallpaw. Can I help you in some way?"
