"Thanks!" He replied, unable to contain the joy he was feeling. "I really caught it. I caught a fish!" Even though it wasn't a major accomplishment for most warriors, Shieldheart was extremely impressed with himself. He wondered what kind of fish it was, but it was big and that was enough to satisfy him. Coming down from the high for a moment, he took in Angelshine's question. He didn't mind the idea of fishing some more, but he also wanted to show Swordstrike his catch. He was slightly surprised his brother hadn't caught up to them yet. A sting of worry reached him, but he shoved it down. Swordstrike could handle himself and they were in FallClan's territory. What could possibly happen? "What do you want to do?" He asked.

Angelshine let the warrior bask in his victory with thinly veiled amusement. The brown she-cat tilted her head to the side as she watched Shieldheart boast about his fish and then return her question. In all honesty, Angelshine did not care if they continued or headed back. The tom did seem excited to show his impressive catch to his brother, so she made the decision to double back and meet up with the other warrior. “We can headed to the meadow and meet up with your brother. The morning is drawing near and the clan will be bustling about soon enough.” She responded, moving forward to collect her catch. “Maybe on our way you can tell me some more about you.” Angelshine flashed Shieldheart a grin as she headed back to the path that lead to firefly meadow.

"Alright," he agreed easily and bent down to retrieve the fish he'd caught. Capturing its tail fin in between his teeth, he was still able to talk out of the corner of his mouth. Swordstrike had already told Angelshine about their past, even if it left out a lot of key details, so he wondered what more she could want to know about him. "Well, I enjoy sunsets and long walks on the beach," he started lightly, while he waited for the she-cat to grab her catch too.

Angelshine carefully grab her fish by the dorsal fin, leaving her enough room to keep up the conversation. She started walking and looked over at Shieldheart out of the corner of her eye. “Hm. Interesting.” She commented. “I enjoy hunting.” Angelshine did not elaborate further and she fell silent, unsure of what to say next. She was not well versed in conversation and was unsure of what to continue talking about. Angelshine shifted her gaze ahead of her to the path infront of her leading them back to the meadow.

Usually the mention of hunting would set Shieldheart off on a passionate rant, but that was the most obvious piece of information Angelshine could have shared with him. Stopping on the path, he allowed his fish to fall to the dirt. "No kidding? You like hunting. I never would have guessed," he exclaimed sarcastically. It wasn't that he was angry with the she-cat, but just frustrated. He'd been putting in a lot of effort to lighten up the mood around them, but the warrior was just no help at all. Scowling, he said, "No offense, Angelshine, but I feel like I'm talking to a wall. What's the deal?"

Angelshine halted in her tracks and turned her head towards the tom. Her eyes narrowed and she allowed the fish to fall from her mouth as well so she could responded to Shieldheart. “I figured it would have been obvious that I enjoy hunting. I do not know why you would have never ‘guessed’.” She replied, her tone matter-of-fact and even. Her eyebrow arched at his next statement and her confusion grew. What did he expect from her? “What do you want me to say? I can assure that I am not a wall, but I am not understanding what you want me to talk about?”

"What?" the word matched his expression to a t, because Shieldheart had no idea cats like Angelshine existed. She had taken his every word seriously, not at all catching onto his sarcasm. Heck, she even thought he believed she was an actual wall! "I wasn't- I didn't mean it like that." Taking a deep breath, he asked in a steadier tone, "Alright, so you like to hunt. What else do you like to do? I like to eat, travel, and meet new people." At least now he felt better about his failed flirting. She probably hadn't understood any of it.

Angelshine frowned, thinking over his words. What did she do besides hunt? Nothing. Hunting, fighting, and following her father. That is all her life has been. She did not have any other hobbies per say. “I enjoyed being with my father before he disappeared.” She spoke hesitantly, not sure if this is what the tom was looking for. Angelshine tried to think of other things to say, but came up blank.

Now Shieldheart felt like a jerk. The first time her father had come up in a conversation today, it was obvious Angelshine wasn't interested in talking about him. Now, he was forcing her to bring him up again. Great. Even better than that though, was that the subject of her dad made him think of his own, and that was a topic he liked to avoid. Awkwardly, he cleared his throat as he tried to come up with something to say to the she-cat. She appeared so confused now--lost. His brother would have advised him to console her, he knew, but it wasn't easy for him to step into that role. Addressing emotions was just not something he did. Green eyes studied Angelshine a moment longer and then he cleared his throat again and looked away. "Well, uh, yeah... So maybe we should just talk about hunting..."
He could feel an odd tension building around him; maybe them, and he didn't know how to describe it. His stomach was doing somersaults and his gaze kept returning to her. It was so strange, but he summed it up to Angelshine being a weird cat and not knowing how to deal with someone like her. Still, as his eyes found her's yet again, he wondered why he'd never felt such a feeling before. Shieldheart had been around plenty of strange cats in his life. So why was this any different?
"Am I interrupting something?" The familiar voice of his brother filled the air, drawing Shieldheart's attention to snap his way. Swordstrike was standing on the path a few tail-lengths away from them with an inquisitive amusement painting his features. How he'd not heard the giant approach was a mystery that momentarily distracted Shieldheart from reacting.

Angelshine lifted her blue eyes to gaze back at Shieldheart, knowing that the topic of fathers was not a pleasant discussion for either of them. The warrior pushed aside her discomfort and felt a little relief as he changed the subject. Hunting was something she was familiar with and could talk about it with ease. As she prepared herself to responded to the tom's words, she was interrupted by Swordstrike as he approached the two. Blue eyes turned to greet the warrior as he approached and the brown tabby tilted her head to the side, wondering how she managed to miss the fact that he was even nearby.
"We were just discussing hunting." She announced, dipping her head in greeting to the massive tom. "We had our fill of fishing for the night and we were on our way back to meet up with you." The she-cat motioned to the two fish that lay at their feet as she spoke. In her mind, Angelshine attempted to push back the emotions she was beginning to feel for Shieldheart. She was determined to analyze them later as she had not felt many emotions similar to these before and they were hard to describe. Even her mind failed to put words to them. All she knew was that her chest tightened and her stomach fluttered when she was near the deputy.

"Oh! Well, nice," Swordstrike replied, seemingly unconvinced at first, but then perking up as his eyes met the fish on the ground. He nodded his head, impressed by what could have only been Angelshine's work. Shieldheart had stayed quiet at first, feeling even stranger because he almost felt like he'd been caught doing something wrong. Which, obviously he hadn't. Angelshine and him had only been talking. Then she mentioned their fishing and his face brightened considerably.
"Dude! I caught a fish!" he burst out, smiling. "See, look!" Nudging his fish forward with his paw, he watched Swordstrike's expression show even more surprise. "Wow. That's great, Shield. Both of you actually. I'm sure you had to help him, right?" he gave Angelshine an almost apologetic look.

Angelshine let a wry smile come across her face briefly. "No. He caught it all on his own. Quite the fisher as it turns out." She replied, casting a glance at Shieldheart. She quickly sent him a wink that would go unnoticed by Swordstrike. She then turned to face the warrior, tilting her head again. "Shall we collect our catches and take them back to camp? You did you two have anything else in mind?" Angelshine questioned, her blue eyes shifting between the brothers, though it was fairly noticeable that her gaze lingered on Shieldheart. Truth be told, Angelshine would not mind spending more time with the two warriors as she was growing to enjoy the company they provided. For the first time in a long time, she did not feel so alone.

"Well then, good job, Shield," Swordstrike directed to his older brother, who gave him a pleased nod. Shieldheart was momentarily distracted by Angelshine's wink though. He didn't know the she-cat had it in her to do that and was half-expecting it to have happened purely by accident. Although, she had hidden the action from Swordstrike so...
"We probably should head back to camp. It'll be good to have something to add to the fresh-kill pile before sunrise," Swordstrike interrupted his brother's thoughts. "But we should do this again sometime. You're nice to have around, Angelshine." Shieldheart had to agree with him, even if he would have liked to hunt longer. "I have a few ideas for next time," Shieldheart said, mostly to the she-cat. Even if she was awkward most of the time, he wanted to see her relax a little. Maybe he could introduce some new interests into her life besides hunting and thinking about her dad.

Angelshine straightened her posture and gave Swordstrike a nod of agreement, though her whiskers twitched in amusement at Shieldheart’s glance. “I agree. The clan will be please by a well-stocked fresh kill in the morning.” She replied. A small smile came across her face and she ducked her head. “I have too enjoy you company this evening. Both of you.” The brown tabby glanced at both Shieldheart and Swordstrike. Her ears perked with interest at the deputy’s comment though and she sent him a smirk. “I look forward to hearing your idea, Shieldheart.” Angelshine responded, a purr edging in her tone.

Shieldheart let out a dorky laugh that earned an eye-roll from his brother. "Alright, well let's get going then," Swordstrike said as he turned and led them back the way he came. Shieldheart picked up his fish again and followed after with a hop to his steps. Out of the corner of his mouth he teased, "Took almost a moon for you to bury the prey, Swordy! Excited to dig em back up?"
"Shut up," Swordstrike replied and Shieldheart grinned over at Angelshine. Both of them could agree that the she-cat easily fit into their equation, and that she'd be spending a lot more of her time with them in the future.
Angelshine let out a small laugh as she listened to the brothers’ bickering and picked up her own catch. She trotted after them, swiveling her ears to keep an ear out on their conversation. She could tell that there was a lot of potential with these two brothers. They could become like family and she was interested in seeing where this was going. Angelshine felt her heart settle at the thought of having others become family and someone she could put her faith in.
