Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
This time, when Bloodyrondo drifted off into sleep wasn't in the familiar chamber of the hidden Janus camp that he awoke in. Instead he emerged into a small clearing, the grass under his feet grey and lifeless. It crunched under his feet as he walked forward, All around him towered ghostly trees, their branches barren and twisted into grotesque shapes. It was eerily quiet, a thick mist hanging motionlessly in the air around the ring of trees. A thick undergrowth of thorns and vines tangle among the roots of the trees.
From the tangles of undergrowth, nine shadows emerged. Stalking forward so smoothly that it almost as if they were floating over the earth. The first cat to step forward was a large brown tabby, his muscles bulging with his every move. A long jagged scar descended over one eye, that was milky blue. His voice was low and gravelly, filling the silent void around them "It is a pleasure to finally meet you" he dipped his head before rising up to his full height "as you can see, the Sun God's absence has left even Isle in darkness. SunClan is in need of a new High Priest to lead our clan back to the Sun God's light" he moved forward until his nose brushed against the tom's forehead "I give you the strength to act without fear of judgment. As the High Priest you will have to make many hard decisions, but you must do what is best for your clan even at great personal costs "
The stagnant air made Bloodyrondo's stomach twist. He had come to the Isle only other other time since the Sun God's death and it had been relatively unchanged. The flames did not burn as strongly, sure, but the Ancients were still around, the the island was still... alive. This place seemed like a different destination entirely. Weedy, rotten, cold. He shivered but quickly made up an explanation for it: The Isle must be deteriorating in the absence of the Sun God. Bloodyrondo needed to bring him home... and fast.
He felt a few thorns pull at his long fur as he took a step forward to meet the first cat. Bloodyrondo wasn't really sure what to do or say, there was no rehearsal for this, so he just bowed his head an accepted his first life graciously, "Thank you..." He did not recognize this cat, nor did he really expect to, he had joined SunClan at ten moons old and knew very few cats who called the Isle home. No cat except for...
"... where is Satinlights?" The question was asked in a whisper, he had not meant to speak.

As the tabby stepped back, another cat took his place. This time it was a young apprentice, long golden fur swishing around around her body as she stepped forward to stand in front of the new High Priest "Like the rest of us, her light is starting to fade" she mewed sadly, a single tear sliding down her cheek as she looked into his eyes with a quivering bottom lip "Without the Sun God to maintain the isle everything is falling into darkness. Only the souls that have basked in his glory for the longest have continued to shine... I fear if the Sun God is not returned to us soon they may be lost completely"
She moved forward pressing her nose up against his forehead "I give you cleverness to find those who betray you, and punish them accordingly. There are traitors within and without, and you must weed them out and destroy them in their entirety, if you wish to lead SunClan back to greatness"
Bloodyrondo's heart began to beat faster: He was truly starting to panic now. Of course an island as desolate as this would not be able to support the many valiant spirits of the Sun God's chosen. He fought back tears himself as he replied to the long-furred appearance with a heavy heart, "I will save this holy place and the souls that dwell within it. I swear it."
When he accepted his next life he felt even colder than he had when he first entered the Isle. The sensation was far from pleasant but seeing as he'd never been given a life before he would not know any better.
“We know you will,” the tom responded as he stepped forward next. Though he was on the shorter side, the hard look in his dark blue eyes was far from youthful. This was a cat that faced hard times in his life, that had seen horrors, and he had emerged faithful on the other side to keep the Sun God’s favor. His fur was white and sleek to his sides decorated only with a few pale grey spots.
“I give you tireless energy,” North meowed solemnly, touching his nose and forehead to Bloodyrondo’s, “to serve your clan to the fullest extent. Being the High Priest isn’t easy but it can be done if you give it everything that you have.”
Bloodyrondo's whole body was teaming with energy but it was far from pleasant. This time it felt like electricity ripping its way from the center of his forehead all the way to his tail tip, only ebbing with North pulled away, although still he felt aftershocks ripple across his pelt. Littlecrow and him had not spoken in length about this process but no one had ever mentioned it being painful. He wouldn't ask, though, it didn't seem appropriate. He could, and would, take it without complaint.
"Thank you." He bowed his head to the shorter tom, then looked back up, wondering who would step forward next.

Next a small white kit with golden eyes came trotting over to Bloodyrondo, dropping into a play bow and bouncing around as he spoke "To get through all of this you are going to need a plan!!" he chirped, before rising up on his hind legs so that he could reach the red tom's forehead, each of his tiny paws resting on one of Bloodyrondo's cheeks "I give you Farsightedness so that you may understand what the results of your actions might be, however distant in the future. It will be essential to guiding your clan in these dark times. Do not rush into anything. Look forward, and choose the path that leads to what you want SunClan to become"
To get through all of this you are going to need a plan!!
"What do you mean...?" Before he could finished his question, the white-furred tom kit had placed his paws against each of Bloodyrondo's cheeks. He noticed that the kit's paw pads were cold as ice and then everything went black. He felt nothing at all for what seemed to be an eternity and then all at once his senses returned, but amplified so much that even the faint breeze made his ears ache. He stumbled back, letting out nearly silent gasp, each pawstep against the dry ground like walking through a bed of glass. But it didn't last. With each blink his vision cleared and his senses returned to normal. None of the assembled cats seemed phased by his dazed expression, so again he assumed this must just be part of the ritual. He gulped. Four out of nine lives received, and each one was twice as painful as the first...

Next was a gentle looking gray queen, the sweet scent of milk to clinging to her even in death. She smiled sweetly, as his vision came into focus as she moved forward, thrusting her nose against him, not giving him a chance to recover from the last life"I give you Humility. Pride is not a bad quality to possess, but only when it is paired with humility. Even though you may be the High Priest, remember that you are no better than those around you"
If he had been burned earlier, he was on fire now. He could feel every individual hair on his body as if it a living part of him and each one felt is if it was being pulled from the root, just hard enough to cause extreme discomfort, denying him the sweet release of actually being removed. He wanted to call out but couldn't even find air to breath. His vision was swimming with tears of pain but he did his best to fight them back as finally the sensation began to ebb.
"Please... give me a moment..." Bloodyrondo gasped, digging his claws into the earth only to find that it crumbled away from him, refusing to even give him a release. He'd never felt pain so consuming in his life.

A tall black she-cat loomed over Bloodyrondo as she waited on the pain to pass before proceeding. Her green eyes twinkling like stars above him. However should couldn't wait to long, crouching down in front of him until they were even with one another " The longer I wait, the worse it will be for you" she mused her muzzle almost touching him but not quite. "I will try to make this quick" she mewed pressing her nose up against his head before he could even rise to his paws "I give you vision. There are those who are limited to that which everyone with eyes can see, but SunClan lacks those who can truly see. As Priest, your eyes shall be opened to that beyond others, that you may discern their meaning to the benefit of your clan"
It didn't make sense, but he didn't know any better, he'd have to trust this strange cat. He gulped and mentally prepared for himself as the next devastating wave of pain ripped through him. This time he felt his senses dull and then explode much like how farsightedness had affected him, except this time it was focused on his head. The pressure in his skull made him feel as if his brain was going to explode. He wasn't sure if he had his vision or not as his eyes were tightly closed.
Focus on your breathing. This will pass. But it didn't pass, not like the one before it, and when he finally found the strength to face down the dark-furred she-cat who in front of him his eyeballs felt like they were on fire. He lifted his paw to his face and wiped at them on reflex which hurt horrible at first but faded quickly enough. His paw was trembling when he put it back to the ground.

The next cat to emerge, was a black and white she-cat. Her paws were hairless, covered in half healed scabs. She smelled of burnt fur, filling the air with the putrid smell as she leaned downwards to meet him "I give you the Sun’s pain. Like you, the deity you hold dear will face trial, tribulation, and yes, pain. As Priest, you shall carry his hurt as if you held fire itself between your paws, burning hot."
What the hell kind of gift is pain? Is what he wanted to say, but before he had the chance his entire body felt as if it was on fire, and he bit his tongue. His blood was boiling, his skin felt as if it was melting and slipping away, he was well aware of each tuft of fur that bristled along his spine, like claws trying to pry their way between his bones. Bloodyrondo really did lose his footing this time, unable to stand on all four feel with it felt as if all that was left was raw pegs of bone. This time it had barely begun to fade as the next cat approached him.

Before the last cat had even stepped aside, another shouldered past them to press their nose against him "I give you the self-reflection to criticize that which you believe with your entire heart. Even the best of leaders must look within themselves and understand both their motivations and morals, you must ensure that you yourself have not fallen to simply pushing for your own desires without regard to the clan itself" as the energy flowed through Bloodystar, the solid black cat slipped back into the shadows of the trees their yellow eyes glowing in the low light
There was no break this time; the last cat stalked forward and immediately thrust his muzzle against Bloodyrondo's. Close-cropped mouse-grey fuzz covered his tall, slender body, and to true SunClan cat he would have been immediately recognizable: few cats held the look of the haughty Soothsayer. But Bloodyrondo had not been around for Wormwoodlopadotemachoselachogaleokranioleipsanodrimhypotrimmatosilophioparaomelitokatakechymenukichlepikossyphophattoperisteralektryonooptekephallionkigklopeleioagoiosiraiobaphetraganoperygon's life and execution; he had not seen the crazed healer thrown spitting onto the ground before the leader, and he had not watched his lifeblood stain the ground. Even if he had known Wormwood, there was no time to pull away, because he was already chanting the words:
"With this life, you will be given a new self. All of you shall be stripped away and made anew in the likeness that befits you. Leadership is not an easy task, it is something that changes even the most righteous in the best and worst ways, and you are no exception. But rest assured, you shall come out of this stronger than you ever thought possible."
He stepped in closer, crowding the new High Priest, igniting the leader's agony with every step and letting it flow through their contact point. The corner of his mouth twitched; then finally he jerked his head away and glanced scornfully down at the Priest Promised.
"From this moment on you will be known as Bloodystar, High Priest of SunClan."
Bloodyrondo was beyond suffering. His entire body, no, soul, was teaming with so much energy that the burning, gut-wrenching pain he had been feeling all this time left him totally number. He couldn't move, he could barley even open his eyes, but he heard each word leave the last two cats' mouths. He tried to respond but felt like he was chocking. In fact, he realized now that he wasn't even breathing, nor was his heart beating. The inner silence was deafening, like he wasn't even there. Did he... did he just die?
But no sooner had he had the thought then sensation came back to him. It crashed against him like a wave filled with thorns, every sound piercing, every breath staggering, but eventually the overstimulation subsided and he awkwardly got back to his paws in time to meet Wordwood's gaze as he pronounced him High Priest of SunClan.
Why did this feel... dirty? But he ignored his gut instinct, it was easy, this was all he had ever wanted. To be High Priest. Bloodystar. He returned Wormwood's grin, not picking up on the scorn, and raspily replied, "It is my honor to serve the Sun God, my spiritual ancestors and the cats of SunClan. I will not let you down."
