The sun had long since fallen below the horizon, an errie quiet had fallen over SunClan's camp as the chosen ones settled in for the night. Ferventkit's siblings had already fallen asleep, curled up with Jetfire at her side but Ferventkit was restless. "Do you think the Sun God can hear our prayers when he goes to sleep?" she questioned looking up at Bloodyrondo with trusting eyes. Out of all of the siblings, it was she who most strongly believed in the SunClan religion. No matter what situation arise, she put her faith in the Sun God praying to him for guidance.
"Of course he can," Bloodyrondo purred and began to groom Ferventkit's long fur. It was soft with such pretty markings, he would have been envious had it been on any other cat but he already considered this one his daughter, "But just because he can hear all of your prayers does not mean he will answer them right away. Sometimes cats who don't understand his actions - or lake thereof - call him cruel because he lets bad things happen to good people. They're wrong. It's all part of a plan, a bigger plan than you and I can hope to understand. You just have to place your faith in him and weather the storm."

Ferventkit leaned into his touch, curling up in a little fluffy ball between his front paws as he groomed out her long coat, she still had vague memories of her mother and father but they were becoming fuzzier as time went on. She had tried to ask Jetfire what happened to them, and why they were taken away that day but the she-cat never seemed to want to answer. She could tell that Jetfire was afraid but couldn't understand why, nor why her sister was the one to nurse and care for them "Is that why momma and poppa didn't come back for us?"she still remembered crying as Skipstep was ripped away from them "I pray that they will come back every night"
"Yes, it is." Bloodyrondo would tip-toe around this topic, Ferventkit was too young to know the truth, that he very own mother had killed the god that she prayed to with such zeal, "Do not worry about them anymore. You have me and Jetfire now, and we love you lots." He nuzzled the side of her face, the sharp point of his canine tooth pleasantly scratching just right against her cheek.

"I know you do" she purred licking his cheek back "but my heart hurts when I think about momma and poppa" she added sadly "Poppa was crying and momma was hurt, its makes me sad. I just want to know they are ok" she still had nightmares about that day, and it made it difficult for her to sleep soundly through the night
"They are alive," His tone was flat, he hadn't meant to be. But Bloodyrondo would not say they were okay, because they weren't, he truly believed that their souls were destined for the Dark Forest, "You should be more worried about yourself and your siblings. In no time at all you will be apprentices and serving the Sun God more directly. Aren't you excited?" A subject change would do them both good, he hoped that the kit would buy into it, but part of him knew she wouldn't.

"Of course, but I always thought it would be momma giving me my mentor..." she still seemed sad, but moving on from the topic slowly "I just wanna be A GOOD SunClan warrior, and serve the Sun God"
"Sometimes things don't quite pan out the way you expect them to, but it's all part of the Sun God's plan. He will never mislead you if you give him your heart and soul," Bloodyrondo purred, licking a stray tuft of fur between Ferventkit's eyes. He looked to her as a father would a daughter, and curled up tightly around her to match that image, "So long as you do that, you may someday even be the best SunClan Warrior."
"Do you really think so?" she purred warmly leaning into Bloodystar's warmth rubbing her cheek against his chest. Ever since she had first started talking, she had been fascinated by the Sun God, dedicating herself to his service "I just want to make the Sun God proud of me" her eyes shimmered with delight, as she began to wiggle impatiently against him "but I think I did something to make him angry... He picked Resilientbloom to be a Janus and not me" she pouted
"When I was just a little bit older than you, my brother was chosen as Janus, too. I was so jealous of him that I hated him for it. I did many things that I regret just so I could stand out as the superior brother. When it came time for a new Priest Promised to be selected, I wasn't even nominated, but my brother was. And you know what I did?" He leaned forward, now eye to eye with Ferventkit, "I prayed. And prayed. And prayed. I closed my eyes begged the Sun God to give me a chance. I promised him that I'd be a loyal Warrior, the best Priest Promised to ever serve him and the Clan, and that I would dedicate my life to spreading his message as well as make SunClan stronger. After my prayer, when I opened my eyes, I saw that gaze of all of SunClan resting on me. I'd been chosen. I realized that he put me through all of the strife to test my heart and my loyalty. I wouldn't be the same cat I was today if not for the rivalry I had with my brother. Now, your story did not begin nor will it end the same as mine, but let it be a testament to the goodness of our God. Sometimes bad things happen to good cats but it's all part of the plan."
Ferventkit listened carefully, lifting up a paw to twirl one of the long strands of Bloodystar's fur gently around it as he told his story. It was something she often did with her own fur when upset, nervous, or frustrated, turning the silky locks into little ringlets "I didn't know that your brother became a Janus before you" she gazed up at him tugging gently at his fur "Maybe one day I will become your promised if I pray hard enough" she chirped before closing her eyes and nuzzling up against him
"Nothing would make me happier," Bloodystar chuckled, licking the fur between Ferventkit's eyes and then moving down her neck, grooming her meticulously as he so often did with Littlestar's kits. They were all very beautiful but those thick WinterClan pelts were higher maintenance than even his own, "But even if you never reach that goal, just keep serving the Sun God as best you know how. Your efforts will not be ignored. It just means he has a different plan for you..."
His voice trailed off as he realized the kit had fallen asleep. Bloodystar was purring loudly as he laid his head down on the free side of his paws, drifting off the sleep himself. He loved being a father.
(I think this is a good spot to end this unless you have more ideas! :3)
