"But I don't want that one, it looks scary," Dragonkit whined, shaking his head as he backed away from the shrew. A pinprick of blood on its neck and covered in fur, the kit wanted absolutely nothing to do with the prey Ghostcrown had brought him. "Isn't there anything else? I don't want that food!"

Desertkit stared up in wonderment at the shrew "Well I will take it", the gray tom snatched it away from Dargonkit carrying it off to the side to examine the strange wound on it's neck staring at it deep in wonder, spacing out and forgetting about the other cats standing around him
Ghostcrown had backed off after lying down the prey, but he looked up again as he heard Dragonkit's protect. He broke into a wide grin as Desertkit stole away the food. Definitely my son.
Dragonkit was dismayed. "No!" he yowled. "You can't eat it either! Don't you know it was once alive?" That was a very recent revelation for him, and he did not like it. He thought prey grew like flowers from the ground.

Desertkit had already stuffed a large bite into his mouth by the time his brother commented, his cheeks puffed outwards with food "dhkeadldea" he swallowed not fully chewing his food "but it's tasty!" he added, not really bothered by the fact that his food had once been alive. He had to eat after all

"I'm not hurting it, it's dead" he retorted scornfully "Look you don't have to eat it, but I'm not going to go hungry" he leaned down taking another big bite

"No but Littlestar and the Janus talk to the dead, and I think if they had complained the rest of the clan wouldn't be eating it either" dessertkit mused "but I wonder if prey is different from cats... NAh"
"Oh." That... made a lot of sense. Dragonkit felt a little bit better right then. He had hated every mouthful of prey he was forced to swallow ever since he had made his big discovery. "I guess you can eat, then. But I don't want to. It looks kinda cute."

"Cute?" he questioned, but stuffed his own mouth again chowing down until there was very little of the shrew left behind. He didn't like being wasteful, food was food after all "I don't want to think of my food as cute, I prefer calling it tasty!"

Desertkit scrunched up his nose "no...." he trailed off, but he also wouldn't want to. This food was far to yummy and herbs were gross "No but now you have me wondering if it is possible... but if it was, why don't all the adults do it? I mean wouldn't it be easier than having to hunt for our food?"
