Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(This takes place at DayClan and SunClan's border. on DayClan's border it's farmland so an apple orchard. If your cat wants to come and start trouble for Dapplebreeze and Gingerpaw, by all means bring it on!)
Gingerpaw had rolled an apple far into SunClan's territory with a single thrust while there was daylight out. Now that the moonlight shined through the clouds she sat at the border waiting for Dapplebreeze. She had heard all about what happened in SunClan from her Insightfulpaw and Dawningpaw. They were the kits raised alongside her siblings Sweetpaw and Harvestpaw. When she left SunClan Dapplebreeze and her made sure to create a secret code language. Apple and sunflowers meant they needed to talk. They were key identifying symbols from each of their clans.
The flame point siamese watched eagerly from the apple orchard, it was a good vantage point to spy out any incoming SunClan cats, but also to make sure it was just Dapplebreeze and no other cats with the Janus. It had only been a few days ago maybe, a week max since she had moved into DayClan and already there was trouble in SunClan. She had narrowly escaped, but now it was Dapplebreeze she worried most about. At least before she left SunClan she made sure to give the she-cat a rank in power, she could stay safe, but she still worried for her. She was Autumngossamer's daughter and heard first hand just how much Autumn had to fight for every she-cats rights. Now that her mom was gone what if Dapplebreeze was being mistreated!?
It took everything in her not to mumble out a repeated oh my gosh in worry as she anxiously waited for her friend to arrive.
Dapplebreeze was a little scratched up from the scuffle yesterday and she was so tired. Still, she felt the need to get away from SunClan for the moment. She hadn't heard from Gingersnap in a week and she wondered if her friend had made it safely. Dapplebreeze figured that she would have seen her around in the prison if she'd been captured but she would just feel a lot better seeing her face to face. That was why she found herself heading straight for the DayClan border, tired or not.
When she arrived at the orchard, the she-kit looked around, exhausted. She wouldn't cross over into DayClan, but the scent in the air of the apples was so nice. An apple on the ground caught her eye and she cocked her head, suddenly curious. Dapplebreeze crept toward it, looking around in case a SunClan cat had followed her here. For the moment she saw nothing. The Janus sniffed at the apple and yanked her head away when she caught a whiff of that familiar scent. Gingersnap! What were the chances? Did this mean she was here? Dapplebreeze hoped that her friend hadn't left the message for her earlier this week. She would claw herself if she'd missed her.
"Dapplebreeze!" Gingersnap exclaimed from above, still resting in the apple tree, "I'm just hanging out here so if any SunClan cats come I can get a head start and run," She explained, but climbed a little lower to talk to her more easily, "I heard about what Bloodyrondo did, that's so awful! I mean, I didn't even think anything was awful until like a week ago and then I really started to think about it was like, oh my gosh, we're the bad guys! So it wasn't like Littlestar was a good guy either since she allowed her cult to kill failures who were dragged against their will to fail initiation and die. And like, Bloodyrondo is now worse than Littlestar and it's just nuts!" She said, falling on her back against the branch in exasperation, "What are you going to do?"
She jumped at the sound of her name but relaxed upon looking up at the face of her friend. "Gingersnap!" she called out warmly in return. It felt so good to see her there safe. As Dapplebreeze listened to the she-cat talk, her anxiety began to skyrocket. "But that can't all be right," she tried to argue, tail lashing out. The kit was so confused about all of this. How could everything she knew and cared about be wrong? "We aren't the bad guys Gingersnap. But Bloodyrondo definitely is. How can you just imprison your own leader like that?"
"We were told to kill people Dapplebreeze, and I found out that apparently that's not normal! Like I'm in DayClan and a lot of other clan cats come through here and I've asked around, no other clan, not even our neighbors in Primal Instinct kill people because they failed initiation. In fact most clans, don't have an initiation, it's wild. But it's okay we can still work together, Sun and Day are still allies and I mean, technically SunClan owns DayClan so I'm a little worried Bloodyrondo can just come in demanding stuff..." Gingersnap explained.
"Well then if other clans don't do it, that's just more reason why we must be better. We only pick the purest and the best, Gingersnap." Her voice came out quite unsteady. Gingersnap was really messing with her confidence about the situation and planting some doubt. While Dapplebreeze disliked the aspect of killing, who was she to decide what should or should not be done for the good of the clan?
"No, yeah I totally agree, like I want the purest for SunClan too, I just don't want to kill people who aren't pure. Like y'know, exile them or maybe do what DayClan does and make them serve us, but not kill them," Gingersnap explained, but she could see her friends concern, "Hey, it's okay that we have different opinions, we still partially agree, like that SunClan deserves the best!" She said, trying to cheer her friend up. Slowly she scaled down from the tree before shyly walking up to her friend. She knew SunClan well enough that they could snatch her up easily and make her initiate into SunClan to prove her loyalty and worth. But she could tell her friend needed to see that she still trusted her.
"Besides, we can work together if you really don't like Bloodystar," She whispered.
Dapplebreeze relaxed as Gingersnap came down from the tree to see her. She rushed to the border, trying to strain over enough to show she wanted to reach Gingersnap with her nose. "If SunClan deserves the best then how could you leave?" she asked, a little bit of hurt in her voice. Where had that come from? The Janus hadn't realized she'd been that upset by the abandonment until right this moment.
Struck by Gingersnap's whisper, Dapplebreeze hesitated but ultimately decided to ignore the comment about Bloodystar. She didn't know what to think. It seemed like Gingersnap didn't want her to like him even if he was currently the leader. And truly she was more loyal to Littlestar. But she couldn't outright speak against him or she'd get thrown into prison with the rest of them. Gingersnap had to understand that, right?
"Well the Sun God did openly admit to murdering my brother and sister so when they decided they would feel safer in DayClan I just wanted them to know I'm there for them. I didn't want to go Dapplebreeze, but Sun God really hurt them and I followed him. The least I could do for following someone who would kill kits is to make sure I'm there for them especially when I'm their big sister. Do you really think I made the wrong choice?" Gingersnap asked, her eyes bright with concern. Dapplebreeze was her absolute besty and although they had different views, Gingersnap had a lot of trust in her, after all she chose her to be Janus.
Ugh she was so conflicted. This was so difficult. Maybe it would be easier if she had someone to look up to as a mentor, but Dapplebreeze has no one. Her one friend in the clan had left, and maybe it was for a good reason, but she didn't want it to be. If she could convince Gingersnap to come back home, she would. "No. You did the right thing."
Dapplebreeze didn't have a close family relationship with her own brother. She didn't even know the last time she had seen him! But perhaps it was different when they had a connection like the one she wanted to have with Gingersnap. But did that mean she would leave SunClan for Gingersnap? If they had hurt her, maybe. But SunClan hadn't actually done anything to Gingersnap.
Maybe it was time to address the Bloodystar question after all. "Gingersnap?" she asked quietly. "What do I do? I love SunClan and I want to stay and make it better...but I'm so scared of Bloodystar."
Gingersnap brightened up again, it was like watching a wilted flower suddenly straighten up and bloom all in a matter of seconds, almost enchanting to watch. She felt good that Dapplebreeze didn't think she left for poor reasons. "Hm. I remember when I was Janus Littlestar alluded we would have to kill Bloodyrondo when he was still priest promise, but at the time she made him be an initiate. I did try to attack him, but thinking back on it that must have been so scary and hurtful. He looked up to Littlestar, trusted her, and she wasn't strong enough to talk to him, she only knew how to make him bend to her will. I think if that's all he had to go off of then that's all he knows. I don't believe in bad guys and good guys, we're all just products of our past and some get a little more chipped along the way. But if all he has to go off of is the cruelty he was taught than that's all you can expect. So who are you loyal to? Because God is gone, you're either loyal to a priest with no guidance or a clan without any faith, it can't be both. But if you find the answer hard to choose, then maybe this isn't for you."
"Don't you ever get out of breath," laughed Dapplebreeze. She kept the smile on her face but inside of her was turmoil. "I love SunClan. It's my home." Could that be enough? She was one cat, certainly unable to help by herself. But whatever happened, Dapplebreeze wanted to remain a part of it. It was confusing seeing everything happening around her, but every day, it felt like she was understanding a little more. Still, there was so much she wasn't able to get.
"I don't like Bloodystar like I do Littlestar. I have to stay - I want to stay. SunClan needs help." So there was her decision then. Talking to Gingersnap had made it all so clear.
"Teheheh, you're crazy Dapplebreeze!" Gingersnap giggled at her friend as she batted her playfully across the cheek, "I'll help in anyway you need me, you can always come to DayClan and hangout with me and Smokepaw in our den, it could be our hangout! We could share tongues, do crafts, train together, just like old times. That way when you need help with SunClan stuff we can talk there in private. You can be my commanding officer from now on and I'll follow your orders!" Gingersnap exclaimed in excitement.
