Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
A sudden, harsh blizzard has swept through the land and a patrol was caught out in it. A second patrol is being sent out in order to help the first. The first patrol is trapped in a cave high up in the mountain, but are any of them injured? It’s hard to know until you arrive. So what will you find there?

Jaguarpaw followed along with the patrol. She had never been asked to join a rescue effort before so she was eager to prove herself to her clanmates. The light colored savannah cat trudged through the snow with the others, clumps of it sticking into her longer fur on her underside and tail.
"How are you holding up, Jaguarpaw?" His words were dulled by the buffeting storm, the heavy snow fall blanketing his already thick coat. He towered over the young apprentice and even he found some difficulty in their journey to rescue the previous patrol. It had been strange when they hadn't returned to camp and after waiting many began to worry as the blizzard grew stronger, some argued to wait it out but a small group, this patrol had been adiment about trying to find them for fear that someone could be hurt.

"Fine!" The long legged apprentice said confidently as she leapt through a particularly large mound of snow. It was good to have long legs in a situation like this. As she hopped up onto a rock that was protruding out of the white snow she shook out her fur and the clumps of frozen snow fell off. From up here she looked around. "Basiliskvenom, I think I see tracks? They're up ahead. But the wind has dulled them a bit so it's hard to tell if they are cat tracks or something else." She said from her perch, her red-brown eyes staring intently at the tracks in the distance.
Stripe shivered as he huddled lower into the cave. The group was close together to share body heat but the cave was only a little insulating, and he could still hear the freezing gale outside. His tabby fur was fluffed on end but he couldn't help worrying it wasn't going to be enough for long. They needed help, and soon, or else they needed the storm to end so they could escape.
Frigidpaw was snuggled as close as he could be to the group, shivering still. He was terrified, terrified that they'd never be found. "We're dead. Gods above, we're dead!" The kit that'd been stupid enough to follow them out was pushed to the center to try and keep it warm, even if it was a demon's child. A kit was a kit. strawberrycupidConsuelaneverstarstarCleaver
Wolftundra trailed at the end of the group, his eyes searching for any signs of where the first patrol could be. He was worried that this trip would be for nothing and that they'd find only dead bodies to bring home. Warriors were in desperate need in WInterClan and they could afford to lose two of them or even students to a blizzard. The weather wasn't letting up either. It continued to snow lightly, and the cold was penetrating even his thick, fluffy fur. MorteAutumnalPhantomSpot
Frostcloud's paws and nose were numb and her teeth wanted to chatter but she kept pushing on, leading the rescue patrol up to the mountain where the first patrol had been assigned to go. With any luck, the other patrol would be unharmed and alive but living in the mountains came with great risk. As they ascended the mountain where the patrol had gone missing, Frostcloud spoke to her patrol. "Prepare for what you are about to find. Prepare yourself emotionally and physically. We don't know what state the patrol will be in when and if we find them. Keep your eyes peeled for the slightest bit of clue that would indicate the location of the patrol. Remember to keep your voices low. Do not call for your clan mates. We do not want to get trapped in an avalanche."

Jaguarpaw glanced at Frostcloud from her perch on the protruding rock. "Frostcloud. To your left up ahead. I think I see tracks. They are a bit muddled now with the extra snow but maybe they are from the patrol. There are a lot of them." The apprentice said as she looked back in the direction of what she was seeing. There were, indeed, a lot of deep imprints in the snow. Hopefully they were from the patrol. As she looked closer she did see that the tracks moved parallel to them but the further away they got from a clump of closely growing snow covered pines ahead the more muddled they were from the extra snow falling into them. She even spotted very tiny indentations, like a kit's prints. Along with larger indentations where the smaller cat would fall through deeper snow up to their belly. These had to be the patrol's tracks slowly being snuffed out by the falling snow. "It has to be them" she muttered to herself.
Chestnutspeck followed the patrol closely, her little legs picking up more speed to keep up with the group. Because of her stunted growth she is was significantly smaller than most of the Winterclan cats. No being used to going out with the other cats, she tried her best to keep up but the rocky weather proved to be a challenge as she fought with all her strength not to get thrown around by the strong winds. She struggled for a bit, almost fllaing behind but Wolftundra stuck closely behind her, motivating her to keep pushing forward.
At the Knight's words, Chestnutspeck felt herself stay quiet with concern. She knew to stay leveled headed. As an appointed Witch she had to be, but it didn't mean she couldn't be worried or scared. She did her best to quiet her internal fears all while maintaining a calm exterior... ______________________________-
Centipedepaw sat huddled in a tight ball, shivering slightly in the cold and dingy cave. He was closely huddle to Stripe, unintentionally. The action was uncomfortable as the young apprentice was used to spacing himself physically and emotionally from his clan mates. But despite his thick grey coat, the cave was cold and unkind. He did what he must to survive.
At Frigidpaw's cries of fear, Centipedepaw glared. Gods, some cats had such poor control of their emotions. The grey tom thought coldly, but as the words formed in his mind, his own heart raced with concern. They had already been out here for so long, too long. He himself hoped that a patrol had been sent out to find them and find them soon. Despite his calm exterior and the internal conflict to stay level headed, he couldn't help but feel a small pang of fear in his chest as the time ticked on...
Wolftundra was moments away from just hauling Chestnutspeak up by her scruff and carrying her through the terrain if that meant they'd be able to move faster. But he didn't, and solely out of respect for the Pupil. If it were any other cat, someone who's rank was similar to his own, then he absolutely would have. Hearing Jaguarpaw's words though he about did it anyways. Warriors and students were in danger and their dear Pupil would be their saving grace in this moment. "We need to hurry if it is them." His words were directed at the Pupil in front of him but he spoke it to all the cats around.
(weird. I thought I replied to this! Maybe I just didn't hit the reply button XD)
Frostcloud perked her ears at Jaguarpaw's report and nodded. "Well done, Jaguarpaw." She complimented which was quite unusual of her to do. "We must act quickly before we lose those tracks to the snow." She hastily headed toward the spot where Jaguarpaw said that there were paw prints. Sure enough, there were several of them heading in one direction. "Follow the tracks." She ordered her patrol as she, too, began following the paw prints. It wasn't long before the patrol came to what looked to be a small avalanche that had slid down part of the mountakn. The paw prints had ended suddenly at the large snow mound. "This is where it stops!" She mewed in slight panic, worried that her clan mates had been burried alive. She leaped onto the snow mound and pressed her ears to the snow, listening for any sounds of movement. Fortunately, she heard the Kit's crying, muffled under the snow. "Someone is alive!" She mewed joyfully. Looking at the side of the mountain, she recalled being here before. "I think there's a cave here. I bet when the avalanche began, they all rushed into the cave but got trapped inside!"
"We're going to be fine," Stripe insisted firmly, hiding his own doubts. They weren't going to die here, he was certain they would be able to escape eventually, but it was a question of when. If they waited much longer, he feared they were all going to walk away from this cave with frostbite or worse. Hypothermic cats lost their wits, and if the entire patrol did, they might never make it to camp.
his head lifted as he heard a slight shuffling above them, and he barely made out Frostcloud's voice. "Hey!" he called, raising his head. "Hey, is someone out there?"

"We have to make sure the surrounding snow is stable. If we start digging right away. Another avalanche could be triggered." Jaguarpaw said as her ears pricked forward with the soft muffled voices she could hear calling out to them.
"That's true, Jaguarpaw" Frostcloud commented before hearing the muffled voices of the cats calling to them. "Hold on. We will get you out of there." She promised but how? She began pressing on the snow with her paws. Some places were soft while others firm. They would have to work their way around the soft parts. If they hit any of those soft spots, another avalanche could happen. Frostcloud leaped down from the mound and pressed the side of the mound. "The only way we can get them out is to dig. However, we will have to be extremely careful. To avoid an avalanche, we may have to dig from top to bottom to ensure safety and cave-ins."
Basiliskvenom stood staring at the colapse of snow that was trapping his clanmates in the cave, his ears flattened against his head. "They've been in there too long, if we can't get them out and warm soon..." He stopped, not daring to finish putting words to the horrid thought. He shook his large head and let out a hiss. "Is anyone hurt? We brought Chestnutspeck just in case."

Jaguarpaw follow Frostcloud's lead and began helping her slowly dig at the top of the mound. Her long legs helping her not to fall through the thick mound too far so she could dig easier. "Slowly but surely we will get them out. We have to." She said mostly to herself but loud enough that anyone close to her, like Frostcloud, could hear.
Wolftundra's words were clear and something in Chestnutspeck gave her the feeling that the warrior's words were somewhat directed to her. She felt a small burning sensation of embarrassment in her, but she remained standing tall and firm in the presence of her other, experienced clanmates. She pressed on quietly, though with renewed energy as she worked hard to keep up with the group, feeling Woldtundra's gaze behind her as she did so. Luckily, it wasn't much longer before the group came upon a fresh mound of snow. Frostcloud's announcement of life brought not only relief to the Witch, but a new focus and drive.

Centipedepaw listened to Stripe's words, holding onto the small pang of hope the student struggled to maintain, but from the looks of it, their situation was becoming bleaker and bleaker by the second. That was until the muffled voice of Frostcloud caught the trapped cats' attentions. He perked up immediately, rising to look up at the direction of the noises. "They found us." He breathed, relief evident in his tone, making it the first time since their trip that the reserved apprentice showed any true emotion.
Frostcloud began digging, working fast to get to the trapped cats inside. "Enough talking. Help me dig them out. But be vigilant. We don't want it to cave in on us or start another avalanche."

Jaguarpaw was already digging with Frostcloud when her paws scraped something under the snow. "Rock? Is this a cave Frostcloud? Was there a cave here before the avalanche?" She was unfamiliar with this end of the territory. "Because I think I just found the top of it." She began moving snow faster being careful not to move it in a way that would cause the mounds of snow around them to move more.
