Raveneye bounded after the fast apprentice as she felt herself become more excited to see more of Nightclan's territory. "And I can't wait to see them!" she replied, the excitement lacing her tone as the duo moved onward. When the harsh rocks turned into soft grass beneath her paw, she hummed in appreciation. Her paws were not yet use to the rocky surroundings of Nightclan's camp.

Tall trees blurred on either side of the apprentice as he ran through the forest. The earth was fairly flat this way, and easy to traverse which made their fast pace easy to maintain. Softpaw slowed down as he spotted a tall cliff face ahead of them, standing taller than the highest trees around them. "If you went up there, you'd find one of the rogue borders," he explained and turned so that they were walking with their left side facing the wall. "If you keep going this way, past the river, there's a hill that will take you up it real easy. Although, there's not as much of a threat from this border." He craned his head to try and see over the edge, but it was almost impossible from their position. A roaring sound was beginning to become noticeable in his ears the further they went.

The dark she-cat moved effortlessly through the trees as she kept pace with the apprentice, bobbing and weaving. The moon shone bright, lighting their way as the moved to the next location. Raveneye slowed her pace as the tall cliffside came into her limited view and she smiled. “Which rogue group does this border on?” She inquired curiously. The new warrior was still trying to learn the name of all the clans and groups that surrounded Nightclan. She did not realize exactly how many there were and she knew it would take some time to learn them all. Carrfully, Raveneye made her way behind Softpaw as they continued down the left facing path and her ears twitched as she registered a dull roar on the distance. Tilting her head curiously, her left eye moved trying to find the source of the sound. “What is that noise?”

"Surprisingly, I haven't heard of any rogue groups around us," Softpaw answered thoughtfully. "I know they exist, but we only seem to get the independent types around here." It did seem strange for there not to be any what with all of the unclaimed land on their North and West borders though. "Maybe it's because of Swiftclan? Their territory moves around a lot." The further they went, the louder the roaring became and it didn't surprise him that Raveneye was curious. The first time he'd heard the noise, he'd been scared for his life. Smiling over at the she-cat he said, "It's the waterfall! We're almost to it now."

Raveneye nodded thoughtfully. It made sense that the rouge land would be unclaimed as most would prefer to live alone. “So we just check the border here to make sure no outsiders enter our territory.” She assumed, her interest peaking slightly at the mention of Swiftclan. She has heard rumors of the every elusive group. As the roaring grew louder, Raveneye’s whiskers twitched at the smell of fresh water against rocks. “It sounds like a pretty big waterfall.” She commented, returning the apprentice’s smile. Truth be told, she has never seen a waterfall before.

"Yep, and if someone trespassed from here, you'd know right away. Since it's only our clan's scent marker on that side, anything else would stick out a lot," Softpaw laughed. He couldn't imagine many cats would try to enter from the Northern border though. With the cliffside being so tall and steep, it would be a nightmare trying to climb down or up. Where the hill was, maybe. "It is a big waterfall, and oh! Here we are!" Softpaw picked up his pace as the distant spray of water became visible. The waterfall was as tall as the cliff face and very wide. It came down in one steep drop but its misty spray made it seem like it was bulging outward. At the bottom, the fall broke into an even wider river that traveled South into NightClan's territory. Up this close, the apprentice could barely hear himself think, so he turned to Raveneye to gauge her reaction.

Raveneye took in the sight of the waterfall in awe. It was much bigger than she ever imagined. The mist look almost like a fog following the path of the water down to the river. She could feel the water droplets hit her whiskers and a wide smile stretched across her face. "Wow. I have never seen anything like this. It's amazing!" She said in wonder, taking a step closer to peer down at the base of the waterfall. All she could see was a faint cloud of mist where the water flowed into the river. "It's so big. And that is a long way down."

"Yeah I wouldn't want to be under it either!" he yelled over the pounding water with a shudder. Surely, it would hurt and if not, he'd probably drown. With all of the rocks around the bottom, if someone fell down the waterfall, that might be enough to do them in too. As he watched the warrior smile at the sight, he found himself smiling too. "Is this the first one you've seen!?"

Raveneye grimaced and nodded in agreement. She, for one, would not want to be the one to fall over the edge and crash into the rocks below. She took a step back and glanced over of Softpaw with a sheepish smile. "Yeah! I've never seen a waterfall before so this is the first one I have seen. And it is quite the sight to see I will say>" She called, raising her voice so the apprentice could hear her.

Softpaw nodded at her response and felt a surge of pride at being the one to have shown her something like this for the first time. "Awesome!" he shouted back and then with one last glance at the waterfall, he began to follow the river downstream. If his ears weren't so sensitive, he could have stayed there all night, and he felt bad for taking her away from it so soon. Hopefully, she wouldn't mind too much. After all, Raveneye would soon be able to explore the territory as often as she pleased.

Carefully, Raveneye followed Softpaw and the roaring of the waterfall faded to the background. She didn't mind having to leave so soon, as her ears were starting to ring from the noise of the rushing water. "It's a beautiful night." She commented as she looked up at the sky. The stars sort of twinkled in the sky and the moon provided enough light for her to see comfortably even with her blind eye. "Where are we headed to next?" She asked, curious as to what else Nightclan territory had to offer.

Humming in agreement, the apprentice watched the stars in the reflection of the river. Since he was still early in his training, he didn't get to go outside of camp very often unless it was specifically for his sessions. And then, he was too busy to admire his surroundings. "I'm taking us to the one of the best places to cross," Softpaw explained and his tail flicked towards the water. "Then, we'll be on our way to my personal favorite spot!" Grinning at his own vagueness, anticipation had him buzzing. He felt bad for not just telling her, but if he was going to keep one thing a surprise, it was their next destination.

Raveneye turned her head to look at Softpaw, a bemused look coming across her face. “Keep your secrets then.” She teased, but she felt some anticipation about the next destination that the apprentice was going to show her. If he claimed it was his favorite spot then it must be quite a sight to see. She carefully navigated the riverbank as the continued forward and drew closer to the spot Softpaw pointed out that the should use to cross the river. Nimbly, she stepped over muddy puddles and wet ground to aviod getting stuck. “So, do you get out of camp much to come visit this ‘favorite spot’ of yours?”

Softpaw had a harder time than she did crossing the narrower part of the river. He had half a mind to take her farther down to the land bridge, but this way would be faster in the long run. "Actually, no," he said as he made it to the other side. He took a moment to shake off some of the mud on his legs, sending the brown spray away from Raveneye and back to its original source. "I only leave camp with my mentor, Beetleflight. Maybe once I've learned some fighting techniques I'll get out more." Sticking out his tongue distastefully at the mess still on his limbs, he gave one last shake and then started walking East with Raveneye by his side. "How do you feel being trapped in camp all of the time? It must be exciting to not be a prisoner anymore."

The she-cat wrinkled her nose in distaste at the thought of the stuffy prisoners cavern she was placed in. “Honestly, I hated it. I like to be out and in the open. Growing up I travelled a lot so I never stayed in one place for too long or really had a home. Most nights I slept outside under the stars and it felt freeing in a way. The cavern was too cramped and stuffy for my taste.” She responded, staying in step beside the apprentice. “If you ever want to leave camp for any reason and need someone to travel with you, I am always available. I enjoys going for walks outside of camp as it can be dreadfully dull being stuck in there all the time.” Raveneye offered with a bright smile.

"Tell me about it!" he groaned, "And thank you! I'll take you up on that offer." He thought about being stuck in a den with initiates and wrongdoers--eating scraps and being confined to a small, dark space. Since he'd joined NightClan as a kit, he'd gotten to skip all of that and though he had a hard go of things, his time in the clan had been easier than it could have been. "Sleeping under the stars sounds great and exploring all of the time... If you don't mind me asking, why did you want to join us?" He turned his head to her as he asked, wanting to give her his undivided attention.

"I wanted to settle down." Raveneye answered, looking over at Softpaw. "I spent my life on the move and travelling. Never staying somewhere for too long. I wanted somewhere I could call home. I wanted to be around others, as it was lonely. Nightclan offered me that and I did not think twice." Her adoptive father was a loner and never let them settle. She grew up being taught that staying in one place for too long was dangerous. It made you more vulnerable to attacks and you could never trust anyone you met. When she was offered a place as a warrior in Nightclan, for the first time in her life. She did not have to worry about sleeping with one eye open or moving before the sunset the next day. They offered her stability and that is all she ever wanted.

"I think I understand," Softpaw mewed, but it was a bit of a stretch. He could see why she might get tired of moving around so much, but he had a hard time seeing a family in NightClan himself. Even a future in the clan seemed unlikely at times. "I didn't have much of a choice when I joined. I was less than six moons and starving somewhere in the cold. If I would have refused their offer, I wouldn't be alive right now." He felt weird for making the conversation gloomy again and added with a smile, "But you're right! There's plenty of cats in NightClan. You'll never be lonely here."

Raveneye felt a pang of sympathy for the young apprentice. She remembers being all alone and starving. Wondering if she was even going to survive. "If you had a choice, would you have still joined?" She asked, her voice soft and caring. The dark colored she-cat did not want to offend or upset Softpaw. She was honestly curious. It must not feel great to have such a big choice made for. Vaguely she wondered if when the apprentice got older if he would leave Nightclan.

"I don't know... Sometimes, I think I'm lucky to be a part of NightClan. They didn't have to take me in, you know? But, I wonder if I would have been better off out there. Maybe another clan would have found me or maybe I would have..." Softpaw trailed off as he thought about dying alone back then. He remembered thinking he was going to and having the memories of his twolegs swimming in his mind. He still felt guilty for leaving them, but he hated the curse they'd bestowed on him too. "Sometimes I just feel like a burden to the clan."
