Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Frostcloud froze when Wintrystar lost her temper. She watched in horror as she flung a kit at Lionwhisper's paws and ordered him to kill it. Frostcloud was a harsh cat and would be pleased to teach any dangerous cat a lesson, not to mention she was an obedient soldier but to harm and innocent kit was crossing the line for her. Swallowing, Frostcloud did something out of the ordinary and grabbed the kit in her jaws and pushed passed Wintrystar to stand protectively in front of Bluejay, laying the kit back with it mother and hoping the toss didn't injure it. "Enough, Wintrystar! Harming innocent kits is crossing the line! I have followed you and have gone along with every ridiculous thing you've done so far but this is where I draw the line! I will not help you hurt them." She spoke out in defiance, something Frostcloud had never done before.
Snakefang was livid with Wintrystar, but he couldn't act out in fear of the repercussions he would receive. But watching his newborn kits be tossed about like they were nothing and his mate be threatened was infuriating. He had to play it cool, but he couldn't become too involved in what was going on. However, it came as a relief that Frostcloud showed up to, hopefully, end Wintrystar's rage. With hopeful eyes, Snakefang watched on to see what would happen.
The shift in energy was so quick, it didn't give Lionwhisper the chance to even register the scent of freshly born kits and milk. All he saw was their Sovereign's sudden and deadly lung forward towards the prison. There was rage in her powerful steps which took her away from the Knights and to the prisoner within heartbeats. As Lionwhisper began to pick up pace, in poor attempt to reach the raging leader, something was tossed in his direction, skidding just shy of his large, red paw; a kit.
Lionwhisper froze, looking down at the helpless kit mewling loudly. It was in that moment that Wintrystar's words reached Lionwhisper's ears, making his heart drop. It's eyes weren't even open and it was condemned to death. Lionwhisper stared from the kit to Wintrystar's his expression going from tranquil control to that of horror, similar to that of his clanmates around him.
It was with great surprise that Frostcloud stepped in before he could and took the kit back to Bluejay's side, standing protectively at the queen's side. Stormyblizzard reached out herself, blocking Lionwhisper with her tail despite the Knight having no intention of moving.
"Do not murder out of defense." Lionwhisper finally spoke, his words quiet but strong as he stepped through the Crowned, walking up to the leader and then to Frostcloud's side. "The Northern God has blessed us with life and it should not be taken without care. The Lunar Goddess will punish the Evil Ones who kill unnecessarily." He finished, looking towards his leader. Despite the seemingly condescending move on his part to recite the Code to his own Sovereign, there was sadness and disappointment in his bright amber eyes. "We deal with the queen as per the code, but the kits must remain unharmed as their death would exceed necessary means."
Snowbunny froze, for a moment he thought he entered another reality as Wintrystar threw the kit, but no, it was too true to be a lie. WinterClan cared about pure bloods and their religion, these kits had no WinterClan blood and they were demons like their mother. He whimpered suddenly as a shriek pierced the air, he had never heard anything more heart wrenching. Looking to the left he realized it was Bluejay, she was just barely leaning up, licking the side of her sons scraped up face.
Before he could react the world began to slip away until he was standing in water, one side looked like a melted aurora, the other looked like the milky silver galaxy. He could hear the sounds of voices, at first they warped, like they spoke another language, but as he closed his eyes the words became clearer. When he opened his eyes again he was still standing in the prison. Lionwhisper was challenging Wintrystar in probably the most polite way possible and each cat seemed tense.
"I've had a vision," Snowbunny said, hoping at least those words would break Wintrystar out of her rage, "Lionwhisper is right, the Gods would not approve of us killing these newborn kits, but they don't like that this happened either. The concern is that Bluejay will corrupt them or worse, they already are destined to be as cruel as her. If you must punish them..."
"If Wintrystar feels the need to punish them." the voice in his vision had said before showing him a second vision of the kits lying out in the cold, but when morning came, they were all alive, warm, healthy. A proven miracle that they had the Gods blessing. That was what he was supposed to tell Wintrystar to do.
"Then name them as you see fit, but don't harm them," He said quickly. He couldn't believe the Gods, what if they were trying to trick him into letting the kits freeze? He knew he was the knight of the stars, that he should trust the Gods, but... These were newborn lives at stake, he couldn't risk it! A bad name was nothing compared to death. Like Skunk or Demon would suck as a name, but not the end of the world.
"These kits are not blessed by the God! How would they when they come from the Sun God himself?" She hated the Sun God, especially with all she knew of his chaos, control, and destruction. He'd destroyed much in the clans and she would not allow it t reach her own clan. They struggled enough in their winter wonderland, and they needed no help in that area. The Sun God could take his tortures elsewhere and she'd see to that as long as she was the Sovereign of the clan. Then words broke their her haze of anger and justice, of her desire to protect what is hers as a mother for her kits or a lover for their lover. A vision? Of what? Why now? Who from? The Goddess or the God?
Wintrystar was frozen, not in fear but confused and questioning. She was firm in her belief that these kits would be no better than their mother. Look at Bluejay, she was no better than the Sun God. Her head rose, pride and strength showing in her form. "What have they to say?" Her voice was calm, but she didn't let the new mother out of her sights. No, her back was to the Blessed, and her gaze locked on the beseeched before her. Name them? so she would, but surely they had more to say? The Gods would not be able to remain quiet ina situation like this.
"They said the kits are half demon, but we're meant to raise the kits despite this. They don't want to be like Sun God and kill the young. On the other paw they don't know what more Bluejay is capable of now that she's older. She can be our most powerful weapon and greatest threat, she's lethal, they gave no opinion on whether she should be kept alive or not." Snowbunny said, still not willing to give up the last bit of information. Wintrystar couldn't read his mind, he would take it to his grave.
Bluejay glared at them, but her gaze was hardly anything powerful, she was tired. More than just tired after giving birth, she was tired of being tied to the Sun God. Every mortal was handed down the same old story, she was a demon of destruction sent down to earth by the Sun God. No one ever said, poor Bluejay, thrown out of her clan by her own mother. No one ever pitied her for being forced to serve a God who cared more about making her mom kneel than how she or her sister felt. She could count the number of times she genuinely felt happy in life on one paw. So when Snakefang came around it felt like she was finally getting the fairy tale ending she heard of in stories. She would marry him, they would have kits, grow old together. The standard domestic life dream, but demons never got happily ever afters.
"Lock me up, I've escaped a prison designed specifically to hold me in, I think I can handle your generic prison in a pit. Just know that when I get out they'll be hell to pay so think real hard about what you decide to do to me, Wintrystar. Or we can both back off, label this a confused misunderstanding and I can be your loyal warrior, raising my kits in your clan," Bluejay said. Her gaze was horrifying more than anything else, her golden eyes lit like the sun even in the prisons dark atmosphere and her other eye had two pupils in one socket. Even with her intense glare it was hardly needed given her already monstrous look in her eyes.
She though, long and hard about what to do next. Her silence was deafening to those around her. But then she moved, her teeth in a deadly grin once more. “Snowbunny, Frostcloud. Please restrain our favorite prisoner. Her kits will be raised in WinterClan as the Gods want, but they shall be named by me for their shameful lineage.” She approached the queen and her kits, her gaze moving towards the bundles at her belly. Oh she’d honor the Gods and wouldn’t kill them brats, but their lives would be filled with anguish and struggles. She’d make sure of that. Pulling the first kit towards her with her paw, she announced its name. “Monsterkit, makes for the blood he holds from his mother.” The next was then pulled forth and then the next. “You shall be Mangledkit, a pitiful thing. And you Sinfulkit, for the sins of your family, mother, and grandfather.” Wintrystar was merciless with her words, each cutting through the air with venom. “Fallenkit, for the path your mother has taken. Maggotkit, for your surely rotten soul. Soulesskit, for the soul your mother lacks, her grandfather never had, and the one you’ll surely break. Brokenkit, for the family you’ll never have and the dreams you’ll never accomplish.” She gazed turned to the final three kits, her flare piercing through each kit as she spoke. “Rottonkit, for your rotten start at life. Nobodykit, for the fact that no one will bother with you. And finally, Dirtykit, for the dirt on my paws, the dirt below my claws, and the dirty stain your lineage has left on this world.”
Stormyblizzard stood listening to Snowbunny as he revealed what the gods had told him, she let out a quiet sigh of releif that it was the will of the gods that these kits live. As Wintrystar began to speak again though, the Heirs eyes followed her leader as she approached the kits and began naming them. Stormyblizzard stood with a look of horror on her face with each name, they wouldnt stand a chance in this world, their lives decided before they could even walk, but she kept her mouth closed and simply took a step back, sure that even if she had the urge to speak there would be no words worth saying.
Reluctantly, Frostcloud moved to restrain the queen. "Forgive me" she whispered to Bluejay so that only the queen would hear her words. Frostcloud was hard on the outside and had tough skin but when it came to stripping a queen of her kits, she couldn't help but feel ashamed for being apart of it. She winced at each horrible name Wintrystar gave the kits and hung her head in shame. For once in her life, Frostcloud was ashamed to be a Winterclan Knight. How were they sure they were doing what was right? Snowbunny had a vision and the gods were not pleased but were they doing the right thing by taking the kits away from their mother and throwing them into a clan that hates them? Surely this would lead them to be more dangerous than they would have been staying with Bluejay. At least she loved them. However, she couldnt fight the leader anymore, nor the gods. This was the best she was going to be able to do for these kits.
Snowbunny felt stuck in place, his paws felt numb as he grabbed the nearest pieces of vine. "She's a demon, she's a demon, she's a demon," He thought to himself. He shouldn't feel bad for her, just the kits, but still, restraining a queen felt so wrong. But Wintrystar was the leader and the Gods were telling him that Bluejay was bad, but not to punish the kits and like, that seemed practical? No one was getting hurt, so he did his job, but somewhere he knew he was just trying to clear his conscience. Before Wintrystar could get too close to Bluejay his claws unsheathed as he pressed Bluejay's head up from behind, only using his claws to get a grip on her, but not pressing them deep to hurt her. He carefully muzzled her with the vine while Frostcloud held her in place. He felt Bluejay try to resist only once before relaxing. It wasn't too surprising, ten kits were a lot, there was no doubt she was worn out, any queen would. And demon...
Bluejay could only growl as the leader approached her kits again, her tail lashing, but could feel Snowbunny's firm grip on her to keep her from lunging at his leader. Not that there was much she could do, people thought she was strong, but she really wasn't, not without using her power. She watched as Wintrystar took the first kit, but was shocked when she named him. That wasn't her son to name! She tried to open her mouth to give some kind of sarcastic retort, but the muzzle kept her jaw closed shut from talking or snapping at Wintrystar. She whimpered anxiously as the next few were taken and named. By the end there were no kits left at her side. She stared miserably at her kits, for once she didn't blame the Sun God, she blamed herself. They were being punished because she was a demon who brought havoc multiple times to the clans. Now because of what she did she wasn't allowed to care for her kits or be with Snakefang or have any freedoms.
Snowbunny leaned his muzzle into Frostcloud's ear to make sure Wintrystar couldn't hear him, "We should take um... Maggotkit to Chestnutspeck," His gaze wandered back to Maggotkit, the one Wintrystar had thrown. Normally he wouldn't trust that Frostcloud would help him, but seeing her reaction he felt confident enough.
She nodded to Snowbunny's suggestion. The kit should be looked over to make sure it didn't have any serious injuries. Usually a cold and emotionless expression was painted on Frostcloud's flawless face but today, there was regret and pity in her crystal blue eyes. She slouched rather than held a powerful stance like her usual and it seemed like she couldn't meet the gaze of anyone around her. "Okay..." She whispered to Snowbunny before letting out a long sigh. "At times like this, I wish I wasn't a knight..." She stared down at her paws that were still holding Bluejay in place just in case she let rage take control to fight for her kits. She wouldn't blame her. She was rather surprised, despite her exhaustion, that Bluejay wasn't trying to fight harder.
Relief flooded in Lionwhisper as Snowbunny spoke up, staring at the young cat as he recited his vision. He couldn't help but watch with quiet pride, but that didn't last as he turned back to the Sovereign to await her response, but Bluejay spoke up first, causing the knight's attention to fall back on her with a stern gaze. As much as he disliked his leader's stance, he was loyal to her and his clan and if talking back earned the queen a harsh claw from the leader, Lionwhisper would have to simply stand by, but what his leader did was worse than he could have imagined...
Lionwhisper stepped off to the side as Wintrystar stepped forward, watching and listening with silent horror as the names spilled from the Soverign's mouth. The Knight blinked slowly, staring at the other Knights, not surprise to see the same looks of restrained shame on their expression. Their Sovereign had gone too far, but they knew better than to intervene more than they already did. With a heavy heart, Lionwhisper stepped close to Wintrystar, his amber eyes locked onto the leader's "What would you have us do with the queen?" He spoke up quietly.
