Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The dawn was quiet over the forest, with only a few birds practicing their morning songs in their nests above. The grass and colorful blooms were covered in the light layer of morning dew, that glittered playfully in the soft daylight; a peaceful respite from a night's worth of rough trekking across thick woods and rocky mountains. Noticing a patch of clover that looked comfortable enough, the tortoiseshell she-cat took a moment to sit and rest her tired and sore paws. Hopefully that would be the last time in her life that she'd have to make a journey like that. Not that she particularly regretted it; frankly, she had been looking for an excuse to leave Primal Instinct for moons now - she'd always been more suited to clan life than anything else, it just took a few seasons of her being away for her to see it. Speaking of seeing, glancing out in the distance, she could already spot one of Dayclan's Dawn Patrols heading in her direction. With a gentle smile crossing her muzzle, slightly flaked with grey from age - she politely waved her tail to them. "Good morning," she meowed evenly, dipping her head in respectful greeting. "I'm looking to join Dayclan. My name is Gravelshell, Yuccablossom's mother."
Laughingsky trotted along as part of the patrol, the young imperial wearing a bright smile on his face despite the fact that many would say he had nothing to smile about. Blind in his left eye, missing half of his right leg and half his tail. He was humming softly, something which Senescence who was walking a few paces behind seemed irritated by. Or maybe that was just her usual expression, which was more likely.
As he spotted Gravelshell, the tom lifted his half foreleg and waved it at her, the red tabby warm and friendly as could be in contrast to Wanderingwight's general bored disinterest. "I'm Laughingsky, Eternalstar's son." He answered easily, motioning her over the border. "Come along, let's get you to camp."
"Finally, someone can talk sense into your daughter." Sen muttered, giving Gravel a deadpan expression that suggested Yuccablossom might need to be hit across the head once or twice to knock some sense into her.
Gravelshell blinked in surprise. She had recognized her mate's sister right away, even from a distance, but the scarred ginger tabby beside her had been familiar in a way that she didn't immediately recognize...that is, until he introduced himself. "Eternalstar...?" She mewed softly, her hazel eyes glazing over with various emotions at the name; joy, sorrow, grief, before settling on a muted shame. Shame that she never knew that the kit she had let down so long ago had a son, and that said son had already suffered himself. "I knew your father," she finally replied, offering a sad smile to Laughingsky. "We were in the same clan, once. I wish I had done more for him, he was a good tom."
Wanderingwright's off-paw comment snapped her out of her fog of past regrets as she followed the pair across the border. A knowing, mischievous smirk crossed her face. "You should know as well as I that sense and my daughter have never crossed paths," she responded cheekily. "I suppose that makes her more than suited for Glowstar's Immortal Council."
Laughingsky had heard some about Eternalstar's origins in WaterClan. But not everyone was so willing to tell him about that time, or had the stories to share. His smile never wavered as he leaned forward, touching a nose to her ear. "If he never said it in life, then let me say it now. You're forgiven, for whatever you perceive that you lacked in aiding him. Stop regretting the past, and instead look to the future. I'm sure you helped him more than you could ever know."
Senescence couldn't help a slight roll of her eyes at Laughingsky's comment. "Most members of the Immortal Council wouldn't usually get angry at putting down someone who would abuse their own niece from kittenhood on, alongside said apprentice niece's 'mother'." She noted, tilting her head. "Other than that, I would generally agree with your assessment."
"MOM!" Before Gravelshell had the chance to ask Wanderingwight for details, her look-alike daughter burst out from the undergrowth. Around her neck was a pendant that her mother may or may not recognize as belonging to Senescence, although it looked much cleaner than it had in the past, only faintly speckled with the blood that she couldn't quite scrub off. Yuccablossom slowed down then weaved her way between Laughingsky and the lucifern, lightly brushing her pelt against the both of them, then embraced her mother with enough strength to knock the other she-cat over,"Are you going to join DayClan?!" Seeing as she'd never known Gravelshell to come visit this Clan even though Lucistic was here so often, she thought it was fair to assume as much, "I'm so happy to see you! You look as beautiful as ever."
Gravelshell's steps faltered as Laughingsky leaned in close to her, and she had to fight back tears at the tom's words, smiling softly. "I pray to Starclan every day that I'll one day believe that," she replied simply, though the tortoiseshell she-cat visibly relaxed, rolling her eyes at Wanderingwright's comment about her daughter's behavior. She was just opening her mouth to answer Sen when, speak of the devil, Yuccablossom appeared from the undergrowth, nearly knocking them both over with the strength of her hug. "I'm happy to see you too, my darling," she purred lovingly, licking her daughter between the eyes as she pulled away. "Of course I'm joining Dayclan, if your grandmother will let me. No offence to you, Sen, or Funk E'tan, but Primal Instinct just isn't the place for me. My heart will always be with the clans...and Lucistic, if that mousebrain ever bothers to visit me once and a while."
"Oh she'll love to have you! Right, Sen?" Yuccablossom purred, turning her gaze to the rust-colored lucifern, the color of her eyes best described as that burning shade of yellow-green that leaves turn when flushed with sunlight. Her grin was just as bright and more contagious than green-cough, although unfortunately only half of her audience was likely to return the smile, "I can't wait to give you the tour. DayClan is so beautiful, and the cats here have hearts of gold. You'll fit right in, I'm sure of it!"
Gravelshell couldn't help but grin fondly at her daughter's enthusiasm; as naive as she still believed Yuccablossom was, her optimism was quite infectious. It was good to see her precious kit again. "As long as there's a river or lake I can swim in, I'll be just fine," she replied with a purr of laughter, rubbing up against Yuccablossom. "I missed you, Yucca. I'm sorry for staying away for so long." The older tortoiseshell let out a tired sigh. "I suppose, even though I haven't been leader for a long time, I felt partly responsible for losing Waterclan. I didn't think that Starclan would forgive me for letting it go."
"You have no idea." Yuccablossom purred, leaning in close, "Has dad really never told you about DayClan's camp? I won't waste time explaining it, I'd rather just show you!" It her typical fashion, she began to bound away headfirst, although she quickly came to a halt when she realized Gravelshell was still speaking. Oops. She was getting ahead of herself, "I missed you too, mom." She flashed her mother an honest smile, it had always come easy to her, smiling, "Don't worry so much about what happened to WaterClan. It's in the past and no cat doubts that you did everything that you could. Some things are just outside of our control as well as StarClan's. At least we still have each other."
The mother let out an exasperated snort as she watched her daughter impulsively dash away, only to stop dead in her tracks a few tail-lengths later so they could continue the conversation. Intertwining her tail with Yuccablossom's, Gravelshell felt herself truly relax and feel at ease for the first time since she'd left Primal Instinct. "We do," she agreed, before rolling her eyes at the mention of her mate. "But don't get me started on your father. We both know he has bees in his brain. He better have a good excuse for leaving me alone for so long."
"Ya know, I hate excuses, I'd rather you say 'I messed up' rather than 'I wanted to but I had ticks, I was busy hunting, I was on den duty...' Nothing you every say after 'but' is ever satisfying. If more cats just owned up to their failures instead of trying to pin it on something else, our communication as a whole would be much better, She leaned into her mother's side again and took comfort in weaving their tails together; it had been something they had always done, seeing as Yuccablossom had always had the tendency to run off, "That being said... I do agree that he's got bees in his brain sometimes!"
Leucisticcrow lied down in camp, his paw holding down a branch while he tried to weave the other carefully before getting whipped in the face by a branch.
"I keep telling you, have a firm paw on the branch," the somali tabby mix scolded Leucisticcrow. Harvestpaw was working on a nest beside him, but seemed annoyed at the number of times the tom had gotten himself hurt.
"I know exactly what I'm doing," Leucisticcrow assured him.
Harvestpaw tasted the air before gagging, "Ick, I smell an outsider."
"Yeah, well, it's DayClan, it's not sacred land like your old home cultist," Leucisticcrow snickered as he continued letting the branch whip him a few times in the face.
"And it's fishy, kind of mixed with pine trees. What clan even is that from?" Harvestpaw asked, trying to put his paw on it.
Leucisticcrow stood up immediately, "NO ONE MOVE!" He called to everyone in camp, his green worried eyes looking around camp at every person in it, "My wife is here and if none of you have anything bad to say about me then don't say anything at all," He said before lying back down peacefully, "You may all resume," He said even though everyone was already resuming even after he told everyone not to move. Now he had to await Gravel's arrival.
