The Peace Keeper
It had been several days since her kits had seen their mom, after loosing a life and dealing with the after affects of having Selene gift her with the power of the moon to kill the Sun God. It had taken a while for her to get he bearings, but even though her injuries were still grave and the clan was on edge, she wanted to do something for her kits to give them some sort of normalcy. Today, they would be going on a little family picnic with just her, Skipstep, and her newest litter of kits. She had to have a lot of help, but she managed to make it up to one of the side tunnels that looked out over the camp, a lip over the edge to keep the kits from falling out.
All of her muscles were screaming for her to rest, as she settled down to where the food had been brought up, but she wanted to do this for her kits. Her broken ribs made it difficult for her to breathe, and her broken limbs splinted and stiff. If she hadn't had Skipstep to lean on she wouldn't have been able to make it even this far
Skipstep of course once she was sitting took a moment to lick her cheek and nuzzle her head. "Are you comfortable?" He asked. When Littlestar had expressed a desire for a picnic he'd gone and hastily gathered some soft bedding and fevers for her to relax again to ease her undoubtedly aching body from the strain of the climb. Now he carefully moved them so they would be in position to make her as comfortable as possible.
Perfectkit couldn't have cared less that his mother was ailing, or that his father was in a tizzy, he was outside, near a cliff, no less! He longed to peak over the edge but the lip was just too formidable for a kit, even one as large as he was. Instead, he scampered around the perimeter looking for trouble, although all he could find were some pebbles. He picked the largest of the pebbles and batted it between his paws for a few moments only to smack it as hard as he could in the general direction of his parents and siblings, "Look out!" He laughed.

"I'll be fine" she purred, wincing as she lowered herself into the makeshift nest. "I'm going to hurt no matter if I'm our den or out here, might as well let our kits have some fun" she was just about settled as the pebble came rocketing towards her, hitting her on her broken leg. If it had been hit by a bigger cat it would have been worse, but even now a small hiss escaped her lips before biting down on her tongue, he was just being a kit "Perfectkit, be more careful" she tried to say gently, even though it came out a little harsher than she intended
"It was an accident!" Although it hadn't really been, he hadn't meant to hit his mother's wounded leg, sure, but he had meant to swat it at her to get her to play. She'd been so boring since her fall and he thought it would be a good way to help her recover. Except... when she did speak up, all she did was scold him.
Perfectkit padded over to his mother's side, located the suspect pebble, and muttered, "I'll put it back..." All of his laughter and happiness from earlier seemed gone, just like that.
