Unseenlights
SunClan Warrior
The Reserved
Unseenlights nosed the smallest of her kits gently feeling the warmth of his skin against her nose. While most of the litter was healthy, this little tom worried her the most. His fur was nearly non exsisitance, his temperature verging on that of a fever and she didn't like the way his breathing sounded. They had named him Damek, a strong name in the hopes that he would pull through whatever it was that ailed him
Shule, naturally, came in to check on them. The last kitten, as she'd heard, wasn't doing particularly well. It wasn't entirely unusual, her brother's side of the family had a few kits that were quite sickly, though that was more due to her brother's mate, than her own line as far as she had been aware. "How are you faring?" She stepped in nearby, her voice soft so as to hopefully not startle the origin too much.

The black she-cat raised her head, ears swiveling toward the soft voice until she was able to identify it as Shule's. Her voice was so quite that it was hardly more than a whisper, and she had to think about if what she had heard was an echo or if she was really there. However the strong scent was clear enough "I'm doing well, thank you for letting me have my kits here" when Duskslayer first suggested raising them here, she had been a little unsure how the Regime would take it. They hadn't exactly been very welcoming to her, and the last thing she wanted was for her children to feel like outsiders... But since the announcement of her pregnancy, cats of the regime seemed to slowly be warming up to her presence here.
Duskslayer walked in with a shrew in his mouth, his pelt rubbed against Commander Shule's, soft as feathers in greeting. He settled down beside Unseenlights setting the shrew down between them. He licked her comfortingly across her face. Damek-tyke still wasn't doing too well, but he didn't worry... Too much. It did worry him that there weren't many experienced healers like there were in SunClan. But Renegade Regime still had plenty of healers.
To him this was a good life, but he wasn't settling for the Regime either. He wanted Unseenlight's to feel comfortable and he knew she could have had kits in SunClan with medical professionals she knew and family she loved. He was never going to forget for a minute the sacrifice she put for him by staying in the Regime for his comforts first before her own. But deep down he knew what he did was right, he was willing to devote his time, heart, and life to SunClan, but it wasn't right that SunClan forced cult members youth to follow the same path. That if the younger generations refused to be a part of it they would be forced to obey or be demolished the moment they reached warriorhood. He wanted their kits to have freedom, a moral code, and a chance to discover who they were without someone telling them what they were supposed to be. So although he put Unseenlight's in an uncomfortable position it was for his kits. Still he felt guilty inside, all of his friends were in SunClan, even Littlestar he considered to be a friend. He knew they would all love their kits, shower Unseenlight's with gifts, want to be a part of their lives. He was taking that from them... He wished they could see them without immediately wanting to steal them back to SunClan.
"I'm glad fate has brought you to this moment mumsy," Dusky purred to Commander Shule. Glowstar was mom, Innocentia was reluctantly called mother, which meant Shule had the title of mumsy. "Well all of us to this moment. I never saw myself being able to join the Regime with all of you and Kaisra because Lex was still in SunClan, but now that he's here everything feels complete. Sort of too complete like I'm a dad that's about to die in act one of the story because the dads kids are going to grow up super cool and can't have a trustworthy adult around to weigh on their story development," He said thoughtfully.

Unseenlights purred lifting her muzzle as she awaited his gentle touch as soon as his warm scent filled the den "You better not die on me" she teased gently, lifting until her nose bopped his "We still have a lot of places we haven't been to yet, and they are going to need you to guide them through your complicated family ties"
Unseenlights scooted over, making room for Duskslayer to join them in the nest if he wanted to.
That's exactly how stories went, any kind hearted nurturing father was killed off so the child would have to face a magical quest on their own. Or taken out of the picture so the child could fulfill a life changing journey without parents giving them rules. In short parents being included in a child's perfect narrative made for a boring story. He wondered if that was why he couldn't have Sean and Shule in his life. Because he would have lived a peaceful, bland life. When he was younger he would always look at things in terms of how things would work in a story. There were plot devices, red herrings, foreshadowing, he would try to look for those things in real life. But Glowstar was always quick to dissuade him, that life was chaos, unpredictable, that he should depend on childish nonsense like fate to pacify the cruel reality that the world was wild. Whatever story his family had he wanted it to have a happy ending so maybe if it got a bit wild he would have to break some of the story rules.
"I think that's a good idea, not dying," He agreed.

Shule nodded gravely. "Not dying would certainly be my preference as well." She added in. "Though I would never let anything bad happen to either of you, not if I can help it, anyway." The Commander smiled at Unseenlights gently despite the other not being able to see it. "An you're family Unseenlights. You will always be welcome here."
