Mousepaw smiled sweetly up at her grandmother as she was given her new name and mentor, surprising everyone that she was being promoted along side her brother. She had always been very sickly, having only recently recovered from an upper respiratory infection that almost had taken her life. Even now she looked far more like a young kit than an apprentice, but she tried standing on her tiptoes to make herself look just a bit bigger.
"Hi there little one! It looks like I get to be your mentor!" Caramelcream purred, her face so low to the crowd that her whiskers touched the sandstone. As a result she was making a sort of funny face, her lip raising slightly on one side. She swished her tail from side to side as she finally made up her mid and pressed her massive paw - larger than Mousepaw's head, honestly - gently on top of the little she-cat's brow, "I'm Caramelcream, what's your name?"

Mousepaw squeaked with surprised as the large paw came down upon her head, even though there was no force behind it. She wiggled out from underneathe it "Mousepaw!" she replied nervously shuffling her paws "How did you grow so big?" she asked eyes wide in wonderment
"I was born in WinterClan and all cats there are big and strong!" Caramelcream purred, sitting her paw down on the ground where Mousepaw once was, "Although Littlestar is confusing, since she's so small, but still full blood WinterClan like me. Maybe it's cuz she's lived in SunClan for so long. Our kind aren't meant to spend so much time in the sun."

"Grandma said that when she was little she was sick like me" he added thoughtfully "she always tells me that one day I'll be as strong and pretty as her!"
"Well, with me as your mentor, you'll surely achieve your dreams! You are just so cute OMG I don't even want to teach you how to fight, I'll just protect you instead, you precious little gem!" Caramelcream nuzzled Mousepaw again then pulled away reluctantly, "How about for our first training session I take you somewhere fun?! Is there any place you want to go that you haven't gone before?"

"I want to see WinterClan!" she mewed excitedly, not really understanding that she wouldn't be allowed to just walk in there "Grandma says that its really cold there, and frozen water falls from the sky like rain, and that my great grandparents, and their parents, and their parents before them are all buried there!"
"I was born in WinterClan!!!! It's always covered in this white stuff called snow or clear stuff call ice almost year round. When it gets really cold the waterfalls even freeze, it's really beautiful! One time I even saw a fish frozen right in the air in the waterfall. It was so cool!! But I... I don't really know the way," Caramelcream was seriously entertaining the question. She didn't understand that SunClan would think she was deserting and that WinterClan probably wouldn't welcome her back because she had deserted. The big she-cat simply had a one tract mind and did what suited her when it suited her without considering the consequences. In fact, she may not even be able to do that, "But my sister Applecrumble does! If we as her nicely, I'm sure she can take us there, but I promised your dad I'd have you back in time for supper this evening so I'm not sure if we have the time. So we better find her quick."

"But if you are from WinterClan, why don't you know the way there?" she asked curiously staring up at her tall mentor "I thought you said that you lived there?"
"I'm not very good at directions. I've only ever traveled from WinterClan to SunClan one single time and never the other way around," Caramelcream explained in earnest as always, "But I mean, I know it's directly south east of here, and to get there you gotta cross NightClan, MoonClan or DayClan. MoonClan is fastest but you're better off going through DayClan since they have open borders. It'll spit you out near the League border but after that all you gotta do is walk directly west. It's a straight shot. You'll see the snow-capped mountain peeks from the Gathering location and that's how you know you're on the right track! It's so beautiful! But once you get there, there's a few different ways to climb the mountain, and the path you take depends on the time of year, the weather, stuff like that..." She trailed off, then shook herself, "See? I only know bits and pieces of the way, so we need an expert!"
