Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Soaringbird's ears were lowered, heart heavy and she could feel it getting heavier with every pawstep as she neared the DayClan border. She hesitated, her paw raised moments from crossing into DayClan territory. Her belly was too swollen now for her to continue on her own. But would DayClan toss her out? After all Glowstar had been close to Deal, hadn't they been mates? What if Glowstar would look down on her for messing up the Pride by falling as she had. Throat tight, Soaringbird stepped over the border and began making the slow trek into the heart of DayClan, tail low almost dragging in the ground as she walked. Nonthreatening, but she could already imagine the dark and wary gazes that would fall upon her, but she swallowed down the lump and forced herself to continue, tail and ears still low, but head still lifted as she glanced around.
Windchaser leaped out of the tall grasses and cut off Soaringbird's path, fur bristling and claws extended. "Hold it right th-" she cut off and flattened her fur, looking more surprised than hostile, when she realized who she was staring at. "Soaringstar! Er...I mean..." She cleared her throat, ignoring her mistake a moment ago. "What brings you to Dayclan?" Windchaser stared at the previous Nightclan leader with suspicion. She didn't hate Soaringbird but she didn't fully trust her either. By nature, they were suppose to be enemies.
Soaringbird winced at the title. "Just Soaringbird now," She said softly. "And... well," She glanced back towards her plump pregnant belly. "i'm afraid I've come back seeking asylum. As you probably know I was thrown out of NightClan and Flamingstar took my place unseating both me and Burningstar in the process since Burningstar was raising her kits at the time..." Her ears lowered.
"Yes...I recall that..." She responded, uncertainly. However, glancing at Soaringbird's swollen belly, she knew she couldn't turn her away. Windchaser let out a sigh. "Alright. I'll take you to Glowstar. I'm sure she wouldn't mind you staying." Windchaser turned and flicked her tail for Soaringbird to follow.
Soaringbird let out a breath of relief. "I hope so," She said softly. "I can't... I know I've made terrible mistakes but these kits are innocent, I couldn't afford to try and have them all on my own. IF Glowstar wants me thrown out after they're born that's fine, as long as they're safe."
"Glowstar wouldn't do that." Windchaser explained. "I usually don't allow anyone over the border even if our borders are open. I don't trust too many cats so I usually watch the borders. However, I'd never turn down an expecting queen. Especially one in need of shelter. And neither would Glowstar. It doesn't matter your mistakes. Glowstar allows Foxbane and Autumngossomer to come and go as they please. You wouldn't be a problem."
Soaringbird grimaced. "Well, I suppose I should get it out of the way. I um... my kits. Deal's the father," She admitted. "I know I've been away a while but... would Glowstar be upset that I was with the cat she's mates with." She asked ears lowered.
Windchaser halted and turned to look at Soaringbird with surprise. "Glowstar is a forgiving cat but I can't say what her reaction would be if she found out who the kits' father is."
Soaringbird winced. "I know... before Rasputin and I broke up I would've felt the same way," She murmured, "But it was just a one night stand, we're not like... together, me and Deal." She added. "Just..." Her gaze dropped to the ground. "Trying to get some comfort one lonely night and it resulted in kits."
Windchaser nodded. "I don't know what that's like. I've been with the same tom for all my life, quite literally. But I understand. Hopefully Glowstar will as well. Even if she gets jealous over this, perhaps I could have a word with her." She continued to walk again, leading Soaringstar to the Dayclan camp.
Soaringbird sighed. "I thought my life would be the same," She murmured. Perhaps it wasn't just Rasputin not wanting kits but him being outraged she'd laid with another tom just because he wasn't around. But Rasputin had never been interested in that, and though Soaringbird had always been fine with that... it had been something she'd wanted badly and in that moment needed so keenly.
She shook it off as they neared DayClan camp, a sad smile crossing her face. "I never imagined I'd have to return to DayClan for asylum," She murmured. "I thought once I left for NightClan that was it. Oh how naive I was."
Windchaser halted at the entrance to Dayclan, turning to face Soaringbird with a serious expression. "Life changes, Soaringbird. You of all cats should know that. Look at life as a river. You never step in the same river twice for it is always flowing and changing. That's the thing about life. It never stays the same. And once you accept that and embrace every new change in your life, good or bad, the happier you will be. There's a saying that I've always told my kits. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. But today is a gift. That is why it is called the present." She then turned and headed through the camp entrance. "Now, let's find Glowstar and hopefully get you settled."
(We can time skip or tag Faith but I think Faith's computer is in the shop so I'm not sure if she will be role playing very often of at all)
