Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Summershadow was in a sticky situation. He'd been hunting when he tripped and fell into a nest of thorns and they were still stuck in his fur and wrapped hopelessly around his forelegs. He couldn't unravel them; his paw was too stuck to move and when he tried to pull it free he only ended up tangling another leg. The dark-furred tom had no choice but to wait, only that wasn't an option either... because he could hear the tremble in the undergrowth of something large coming. A fox, perhaps?
Panic set in. He started to bite down into the brambles, wincing as his mouth was cut open on the spikes, and was nearly free when the predator showed itself. A rabbit. He'd been spooked by a rabbit that took one look at him and fled the other way.
Frostwing had the scent and she followed it as carefully as possible. This was her first hunt in MoonClan and the silver tabby was thrilled that her first catch would be such a good one. The rabbit had no idea she was there. It hopped its way through the territory, but Frostwing was waiting for it to stop and eat, let its guard down a little bit. Then a sound came from a little ways off and the rabbit got spooked, rushing the opposite way from the noise. Not long after, another rabbit went the same direction. What in Selene's name was going on? Irritated, the she-cat crept forward, trying to scent what was there. A clanmate, evidently. "Need some help?" she asked, words drawing out nice and slow. Her orange eyes were trained on the tom all tangled in a nest of thorns. She didn't know his name yet - she hadn't been around that long.
Summershadow looked up to see one of their newer warriors, Frostwing. "Please," he admitted, spitting out the bloody brambles between his teeth. "It's a bit embarrassing to first meet you like this, but it can't be helped. You're one of the new warriors, right?" He studied her carefully as he stilled his movements so she could get a better look at the natural trap he had found himself in.
Frostwing dipped her head in acknowledgement, looking around for a good place to grab the plant. "I am sure there was a reason for it," she replied, deciding on one of the barer tendrils. Gingerly, the she-cat leaned in her head and bit down, only exerting more pressure in her bite when she felt safe enough. This was a sticky situation and she didn't envy the tom. Bits of thorn dug into her cheeks but she pulled anyway. It had to be done.
"I wish there was a better one," he chuckled, "but I'm afraid this was just a case of not looking where I was going. I was chasing prey." He watched her carefully, grateful she was helping out, though he was worried she was going to tear up the inside of her mouth like he did when he was rushing to get free. "I'm glad you came around when you did."
She mumbled around the mouthful of plant, "Selene puts us exactly where we need to be." With a firmer tug, a little bit slipped away from her clanmate. Frostwing wondered if he had room to wiggle and reach any of his own branches now. She pulled away, barely noticing a tiny ooze of blood coming from her muzzle. It would heal very easily so she wasn't worried.
"She does." Summershadow smiled widely. When he felt the branches slacken around him, he tentatively lifted one forepaw out of the mess, then set to work untangling his other leg. Between both of their efforts, he was being freed much faster.
Summershadow's smile made Frostwing smile in response. As he managed to work on releasing himself from the tangles, the silver tabby stepped back to allow him to work alone. "See? That was not so bad," she said, voice its usual smooth tone.
"Not with your help. You don't want to know how long I've been there," he chuckled. Summershadow worked on the last few tangles until he was finally able to step free of his prison. He arched his back in a long stretch. "Ahh, that feels nice. Thank you."
He looked over his coat quickly as well, feeling the looseness in his muscles. "I don't think so, just a few scratches. My mouth is a little beaten up." Chewing on the thorns had rendered his tongue and the inside of his cheeks a bloody mess.
