Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Omega wasn't there, but he heard how the Gathering of the previous night went. There was the usual banter and accusations, but the death of a deity was a sign to him. It meant change was coming. The Clans were once again destabilized with SunClan at its weakest, and DayClan probably holding them up. NightClan left unscathed from what he heard, save for the leader's pride. He didn't know exactly why, but he knew Flamingstar launched an accusation and got clawed in the face by Foxbane, another of his favorite felines, for it. If anything, the events drove a line deeper along the boundaries.
All that forced Omega to make a move. If not now, then when would he move forward? He was already hated by SunClan's leaders, and DayClan was too close. MoonClan seemed disinterested, leaving the obvious choice of Flamingstar's Clan. She already harbored animosity for the SunClan-DayClan group, and was put off at the last Gathering. He once joined the Shadow Era as well. He never met her personally, but he did fight in the battle for her new world. He saw this as the chance to do that again.
Like any good rogue, the boarders merely were a challenge to him, but for good reason. He could hear the roaring of a waterfall from the northwest boarder. The distant crashing reminded him of home, so he moved into NightClan territory until he arrived at the top of the waterfall. The dark tabby took a deep breath as the spray misted his fur. Now he waited.
"Who goes there?" Came a warning growl as a large black tom stepped out of the shadows. "You are too close to the borders, rogue. Turn around or I will be forced to make you." The large black tom's amber eyes burned into Omega's, giving the clear message that the rogue was not welcomed.
Now who was this? The rogue opened his eyes a glanced behind his shoulder to watch the tom approach. Though he was certainly NightClan, he didn't recognize him. "Too close to the borders, hmm? I've already crossed them." His face only revealed his boredom with the whole scenario. His gaze returned to the waterfall in front of him. He dipped his paw in the chilled water and did circles with it. "Seems like you've got to do something about it." He could beat someone up, but he wanted to talk with Flamingstar, not get thrown in prison for killing one of her soldiers.
He sighed again, and his paws ceased making circles in the swirling river. "Please, make a decision. Attack me, or leave me be. Or better yet, let me speak to your leader." His patience was running thin.
The dark tabby turned to face the NightClan tom and rose to his paws. He meticulously placed his paws in the fighting stance he learned as an apprentice in Toxicity: fur smoothed back, back paws offset and front paws roughly even. Omega loved the stance for two reasons: it played to his favorite type of fighting, and it was no longer well known in the Clans. A decent amount of former Toxicity cats still remained, but most assimilated into their Clans. He never did.
Umbrahound took the stance as a threat and got into his own fighting stance, readying himself for the attack. "Umbrahound." The sound of his name caught him off guard and he spun around to see Flamingstar approaching. "Flamingstar! Shouldn't you be with your newborn kits?"
Flamingstar rolled her eyes. "They're fine. Sometimes a mother just needs a break. Something you should learn quickly, Umbrahound. In case you decide to start a family. I decided to get some air when I heard voices and came to investigate. I could have stood by and let you two fight it out but I was quite interested in what this tom has to say to me." She looked at the rogue, looking at him closely. "Hm. You look very familiar. Have we met before?"
Of course she was watching the entire time. He played those same games himself when he was the Strategos, and it cost him one of his lives. His icy optics glared at this Umbrahound as he further made a fool of himself by questioning the new mother. "Umbrahound, don't you know not to question your leader?" He paused. "Go do something more suitable to your skills. Like, playing with the squirrels or something. Leave us."
His gaze returned to Flamingstar, and he dipped his head. "We've been acquainted. I was involved in your little stint with the Shadow Era." He chuckled. "Shame that didn't go as planned, but now we have a chance to avenge that due to... recent events."
Umbrahound turned and bristled, offended by the way the rogue was treating him as if Umbrahound was beneath him. "Excuse me. Your not my leader-"
Before he could say anything else, Flamingstar cut him off. "But I am. And I'm telling you to leave us." Her voice was cold but steady as she narrowed her eyes at her subject.
"But, Flamingstar. What if this is a trap?" Umbrahound questioned, his expression revealing concern rather than hostility at this point.
"I was made leader for a reason, Umbrahound. I can take care of myself just fine." She dismissed him with a wave of her tail and watched the large black tom disappear into the shadows. "Pardon my subject. They all seem to be stepping out of line lately." She responded to Omega, narrowing her eyes in the direction of where Umbrahound had disappeared to before turning to look back at the rogue. "Oh, yes. I do recall seeing you present. I should thank you for participating even if we did lose that battle. However, your correct again. Due to current events, it seems Nightclan and Sunclan are more enemies now than ever. Funny how a rogue knows so much that happens in the forest." Flamingstar raised a brow in suspicion.
He grinned as the warrior's anger boiled over only to have it stopped short by his leader. Clearly that tom was no leader of anything himself, and could only begin to imagine the annoyance and headache he cause. But whatever. The runt was gone now, and he was free to speak with his potential ally.
Omega returned his attention to Flamingstar. "Oh, don't worry. I've had my experiences with those types. I found it usually helped to throw one off a waterfall, but...". He took a quick look over the edge of the falls. "Mine was bigger, and much, much colder." He took a few steps back from they edge and looked back over to the leader. "No problem, it was my pleasure. I've lost enough because of the current system. It was enjoyable to fight in. Cathartic, almost. Or maybe that was the torture afterward... never mind." Maybe Kotori had mentioned that he had someone else in his stint with the Punishment District in the League.
He nodded at the last words she said. "Well, this rogue wants to discuss those happenings with you, from the death of a god to you getting smacked by Foxbane. They're all relevant in the scheme things, no?"
Flamingstar was shocked to hear that this tom had thrown one of his own subjects over a waterfall but did not reveal her surprise. She simply let it go. She didn't want to go into anymore detail about punishing their subjects. She didn't want him to think she was weak or couldn't control her clan. However, she did flinch at the mention of her embarrassing moment at the gathering. She should have stood up to Foxbane but Foxbane was known for murdering queens with kits and she was not about to put her kits' lives at risk over something as simple as getting her medicine cat back. She really didn't care if Littlestar had her medicine cat. He was too soft for her liking but she had kept him around because having two medicine cats were better than having just the one. However, now that Turbulentsea was potentially kidnapped, she could care less about getting him returned. She still had one good medicine cat and that was all she needed.
Unfortunately, she took into consideration that she might lose the loyalty of her subjects if she refused to search for their missing medicine cat. That was the only reason she intended on getting Turbulentsea back, and, that she was just sick of Sunclan practically ruling the forest and doing whatever they wished. If she could reveal how shadowy they truly are despite constantly being bathed in sun light, the forest would stop respecting them and they would eventually weaken. Though, now, it seemed that things were working out in Flamingstar's favor after all. Sunclan was now weakend and, with a little alliance, they would be able to take Sunclan down once and for all.
"Well, I suppose. But what's in it for you? Why are you so interested in all of this forest clan drama?" She questioned, still suspicious. "This doesn't involve you. You could just walk away and ignore it all. Why take such interest?"
The tom knew the pride she carried all too well. He wore it himself when he was a leader, and it backfired. His philosophy relied on a worldview he himself disproved. Omega fell apart for the first time then. In the end, the collapse was a good thing. The tabby now saw it as stabilizing, but he doubted Flamingstar's ability to do the same. Her stubbornness and drive to expand was beyond anything he had when he led Toxicity. Still, he never got smacked in the face by another leader at a Gathering.
He chuckled and waved his tail dismissively at her word. "I have my reasons. Private ones. I'm not here asking for your deepest secrets, am I?" The tom took a few steps towards the edge of the cliff. "Trust that my quarrel goes back to when Foxbane led SunClan, as I trust that you want to end them as badly as I do." His icy optics shimmered in the light. "Trust that I want to see the poison on Littlestar's claws stop her heart."
Flamingstar's suspicious expression melted into a relaxed and interested expression. The corner of her lips curved upward ever so slightly and her eye brows raised. She liked what she was hearing and it was clearly written well on her face. Someone wanted Littlestar dead as much as she did. "Alright. And I assume you've got a plan?"
He shook his head. "Calling it a 'plan' would be a little generous. I'm offering a start. My band of rogues is in SunClan and DayClan. They tell me everything. I'm willing to share that information with you, at small price." He paused. "We want a place to meet where no one will find us along with a share of the winnings. I will live at that meeting place, until the first Clan is brought down." While his group certainly had fewer numbers the NightClan, his Gang had the tools to cause an internal breakdown or some other mishap. "Do we have a deal?"
Flamingstar thought for a moment. Would she really allow a gang of rogues to live on her territory and take half of the winnings? She barely trusted her own clan. She didn't know these cats apart from them being part of the Shadow Era cats. For all she knew, he could double cross her. She shifted her weight, thinking hard on the matter. However, even with Sunclan being weakened right now, Nightclan was still outnumbered. Especially since Dayclan would always have Sunclan's back. It would strengthen their numbers and resources if she did agree to this proposition. It would make more sense to agree than to disagree. She hated to admit it but she needed their help to take down Sunclan. There was no way Nightclan would be able to take this alone. Besides, they had useful information she so desperately needed. "Very well." She agreed at last. "There is a cave behind this waterfall. You may stay there for now. You can take as much prey as you need, but, if anything is out of line, the deal is off."
He knew this decision was not an easy one to make. He was asking a lot for something she had no guaranteed return on, but he had no time constraints. His little band of rogues was growing every moon. If he had to guess he'd have a spy in every Clan by the end of the season, including NightClan, not that she needed to know that. Omega had no plans to give her any sort of names for a long time, at least until they both had a huge stake in the success in their mission.
Her uneasiness had him thinking of plan B, but to his relief she agreed. "You'll hardly know I'm here. I trust that I won't have to fight some warriors away?" While it wasn't particularly important, he wanted to be able to get some sleep without looking over his shoulder.
"I will let my clan know that I am allowing guests to stay behind the waterfall and that you are not to be disturbed or chased off." Flamingstar responded. "However, I believe we should come up with a password. If one of my warriors comes across you or one of your friends, they will need to know if it is truly one of your friends and not an intruder."
He smiled. He and his group no longer had to meet in the Gathering Place, and he had a place to stay that would be defended. "I couldn't agree more. I'd say this chance to take down SunClan is a gift from the universe... let's make our word providence." He didn't believe in any deities himself, but the Sun God's death was a chance he could have never imagine. Something wanted them to act, and act now.
"I think that's a perfect code word" Flamingstar nodded. "I'll be sure to pass it on to the rest of my clan. Do you happen to have any useful information for me now?"
He shook his head. "Nothing particularly interesting. To my knowledge, Littlestar is still unwell, and will probably remain so for awhile." He paused. "I think we should wait a bit to attack, even if their leader is weak. They're on high alert right now, so any invasion would stall in the fringes of the territory. We need to wait for the sweet spot when Littlestar has recovered enough for them to relax their patrols again."
This was true. They should wait to attack but a part of Flamingstar was just itching to burst into their camp and take back their medicine cat. "Very well" she breathed, knowing he was right. There was no point in risking it. They needed to be smart about this and wait until the time was right to attack. "Can I count on you to keep me updated on Littlestar's health? I am currently wanted in Sunclan. It's a bit harder for me and any of my other subjects to sneak onto Sunclan territory and get close enough to spy. However, I'm certain, by what you have told me, that keeping me updated should be pretty simple for you."
