Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Can you believe it? This mouse walked right on up to me with a leaf in its mouth!" Yuccablossom gushed, her fresh-kill sitting on the ground in front of her. She'd lived in DayClan for only a few days and knew very little about its culture. No one had explained to her that Animal Whisperers existed much less that they had tamed an elite species of mouse, the lli, to do various tasks for them. Her poor meal had just tried to offer its cat overlord an herb as its ancestors had done for generations upon generations. Unfortunately, it had approached the wrong cat, "No wonder DayClan cats are always so well-fed, the prey is practically begging to be eaten!" She batted at the little body as if it were a toy. In her excitement she tended to act like a kit at times, "You want to share it with me?"

There was absolutely no way in StarClan that young Spring, a relatively new prey specialist animal whisperer, could have looked more horrified. For as young as she was, the golden feline was scarred from who knew what means. Matching gold eyes were wide as could be, though her head suddenly jerked, tilting itself to the side at an angle that could only be painful as the apprentice just barely managed to keep her balance from the muscle spasm. "D-do you know wh-what you've just DONE!?" The she-cat questioned, her voice high and tight, body tense as if waiting for Yuccablossom to hurt her for merely daring to speak up.
"I caught a really dope mouse, duh! Oh, don't look so upset, I'll let you have the first bite. Spring, right?," Yuccablossom gave the young animal whisperer a megawatt smile and gently batted the fresh-kill to her paws. Or, that was her intention, but she misjudged her own strength, causing the mouse to go mid-air and pelt Spring just below her neck. Yuccablossom burst out laughing and dug her claws into the ground to keep herself from falling over, cutting into the earth as effortlessly as a stick of butter, "Sorry, sorry! I should have said 'catch!'"

"That's an.. i-ili pika!" Spring stated it as if she expected the she-cat to simply know what in the world she was actually talking about. Even still, she scooped up the poor creature with her paw, cradling it close to her chest like a beloved pet. "We've got to get it back to it's kind! We can't lose them like this! We need them!" Throughout all this, she didn't actually explain why these mice were important, though it would likely become increasingly clear to Yuccablossom that these weren't any ordinary mice.
"Are you... okay?" Yuccablossom looked truly concerned as Spring picked up a piece of food and started holding it like a baby. She noticed now that the she-cat was heavily scarred and sort of scrawny, so she wondered if perhaps she had suffered some sort of head injury when she acquired all those wounds. She hated to assume and certianly was not going to say anything, "Look, sweetie, it's just a mouse. We can go put it with the rest of them in the fresh-kill pile if you want? Or...?"

"Did NO ONE tell you about the ili pika!?" The apprentice stared at Yuccablossom with wide eyes, waiting for a spark of realization, of something other than the other cat looking at her like she was insane. Treating her like she was insane. She wasn't, wasn't, WASN'T insane. No. Spring's face flickered with something hard to describe, anger and fear and sadness all rolled into one, her expression falling into something almost blank, as though just... shutting down. "They're domesticated, they bring us herbs. We can't lose this relationship. WE PROMISED NOT TO HUNT THEM! You may as well have killed a kit who was just bringing a piece of prey to their friend!"
"I guess that explains why it tried to give me a leaf..." Yuccablossom's concerned look faded to one of mild regret. She now viewed the plump little rodent with a renewed curiosity and reached for its corpse, "I'm sorry. I didn't know. I'm sure they will forgive me for the mistake." Noticing how upset Spring was, Yuccablossom began to wonder just how big of a mistake she had made. Spring sure was acting as if she'd murdered the leader's kit or something. She couldn't help but thing that the apprentice was overreacting just a tad, "How do you tell them apart from other mice? Surely I'm not the first to hunt one."

"Is a mouse coming up to you without fear, carrying a leaf not a sign that 'maybe it's a bit more important than a meal' or something? It doesn't even look like a normal field mouse!" Spring looked utterly terrified. "No, no, you're coming with me, we have to make this right. Come on, we have to go grab some of their favorites as a peace offering." She stumbled forward as her leg spasmed, rushing forward with a nervous energy to go grab food for the little creatures. The ili pika might have been trained, but despite them not being predators, losing their favor would be a huge blow to DayClan, at the very least.
"Uh..." Yuccablossom was all about apologizing when one was wrong, but she still wasn't convinced that she had made a mistake. The mouse had some unique coloration now that she looked closely but that didn't mean anything, she'd see mice with big white spots on them scurrying around in the League. Mice also ate, well, anything, and the idea that it was snaking on a leaf wasn't outside the box. The only odd happeing was that it approached her directly but there were infinite explanations for that too if she wanted to get technical. That being said, quite often those who are considered 'bad guys' act out of ignorance. She knew that very well. While Yuccablossom was not quite ready to admit that she was wrong, she was willing to accept whatever lesson Spring wanted to give to her, "... Okay. Mouse funeral. Let's do it." Noticing the apprentice's leg spasm, the tortoiseshell Warrior offered her a shoulder, "I can carry it if you want. I promised I won't eat it."
