Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Ruinedportrait paced along the riverbank that separated SunClan from the gathering place. This late at night the young janus knew she should be sleeping, or at the very least back at the janus camp but ever since she had brought back Satinlights’ body to be buried she found it harder and harder to sleep. Even more so now that she had essentially taken the she-cat’s place as janus. She just couldn’t shake the feeling that she was cursed.
Another set of eyes watched her from deeper within SunClan territory. The new initiate knew very few of the cats in this place, but he quickly learned who the Janus were. Ghazen arrived merely days ago, and his old habits had not broken. He still wandered the night rather than the day under the guidance of the moon. He normally stayed hidden in the night, but the she-cat seemed too stressed to lecture him about not working in the day. His pitch-black form was only disturbed by his icy blue eyes as he silently padded up to her. "Strange. Awake."
The flame point jumped slight, startled by her sudden companion. She turned to look at Ghazen, she knew who the new initiate was of course. It was her job to know all the cats trying to initiate into SunClan. She was more disappointed in herself that she hadn't noticed him, or even scented him when she came out here. "Speak for yourself." she snapped, just because she was feeling off didn't mean she was going to start being nice to strangers. Even if he was somewhat her clan mate. "You're awake too so clearly it's not that strange." Her pacing had slowed to a stop with her tail still flicked restlessly behind her.
He couldn't help himself from laughing under his breath when she jumped ever so slightly. He hadn't lost his touch after all, but he couldn't blame her. SunClan cats never stayed out after dark, and here the two of them were. One of them teaching how to follow the Sun, the other learning how to abandon his old ways.
He chuckled and shook his head after she spoke. His eyes glimmered with playfulness when he locked eyes with her again. He turned his gaze to the moon rising high in the sky for a moment. One could almost see longing in his eyes as he turned his gaze back to the Janus. He flicked his tail to MoonClan, then back to SunClan. "Devout. No moon." His tail waved just above the ground as he waited to see if the Janus would get his message.
She waited patiently, or as patiently as only she could for the tom's response. The fact that he laughed at her wasn't lost on her, however the playful gleam in his eyes saved him from another sharp retort. Instead a small smirk settled on her expression as she watched him gesture between the two age old rival clans. The look her gave the moon worried her only for a moment but when he looked back at her he might recognize the look of understanding that shown in her dark blue eyes. "Okay, fine. I'll admit it is strange for me" She shook her head with a small chuckle. Where she imagined most cats would be annoyed with his minimalist way of communicating but she actually preferred it.
"You know, we really do need to work on your nocturnal habits" she joked in a mock seriousness. "What brings you to the river tonight anyway?" she asked lightly, her tone still playful.
He enjoyed the company of cats like her, the ones with a claw at their tongue's tip. He never would respond to any of the blades she threw at him, but it was fun to see them fly around like leaves in the wind. He saw the retort load up as he did his gestures, but was surprised when the comment never surfaced. Disappointment flashed through his eyes as he turned away. He caught a glimpse of the understanding look in her gaze, and didn't comprehend it. Maybe it was something else...
He looked between the river and the Janus and shrugged. The fact that he ended up at the river was more or less irrelevant. Their meet up was purely from chance. In his past, his groups lived in the night, which served more as a convenience. Since birth he just enjoyed the night. He had no reason to live in the night, he just did. The pitch-black pushed past the she-cat and into the swirling, dark river waters, beckoning with his tail for her to follow.
She tilted her head at the tom as he turned away from her, and strolled to the edge of the riverbank. Was it something she said? Clearly this cat wasn't going to be easy to figure out, not that it put her off in anyway. If anything it only piqued her curiosity further. As he beckoned her with his tail she found herself following without question. Until her paws touched the chilly water and she momentarily recoiled from it. Giving the dark water a wary glance before just biting the bullet and wading into the river after him. Following a cat she barely knew across the river into another's territory had to be one of the stupidest things she'd done lately, and there were many to choose from but it definitely beat tossing and turning in her nest evaded by sleep.
"I'm digging the mysterious vibes, I really am but, where exactly are we going?"
The tom looked back at the she-cat with a steely calm look in his eyes as he pulled himself from the warm summer waters. Moisture clung to his fur like flies to rotting meat, revealing his rather decrepit figure. He had begun eating better since he arrived in SunClan, but his days as a rogue took their toll. He shook himself out before pushing forward into the Gathering space itself. He felt a tingling in his paws now that he entered the island, but didn't think much of it.
Silver fire fueled by crisp moonlight illuminated the space as a dark shadow wandered into its sacred territory. His icy gaze wandered between the different places where the leaders sat before walking over to the one where MoonClan's leader typically made announcements. He didn't climb onto it, rather he just stayed at the base. He looked from where he was to the Moon, then to the territories outside the Gathering area, then back to the Janus. Worry ignited his gaze as he drew a single claw from its sheath.
He cut open his own leg with a sharp wince, and from the wound oozed dark, shadowy blood, the sign of a demon elemental. His gaze returned to the Janus and said "Explain." The tom thought he was cursed, but maybe she had something else to say.
The she-cat seemed to accept the fact that she wasn't getting an answer, as much as she wanted to trust Ghazen she couldn't shake the feeling that he was possibly leading her out of SunClan territory to kill her. That's how she would do it anyway. Lure some poor unsuspecting cat out to neutral territory then strike before their survival instincts kicked. She shook her head and forced her fur to lay flat as she followed him to the base of the tree, her own wet fur stuck out in spikes in all directions after she shook the water from her pelt.
She had been about to try to groom out her fur when the black tom sliced his own leg right in front of her. She immediately jumped to her paws blue eyes scanning the area for any nearby cobwebs but when she looked back at his wound it wasn't bleeding, at least not the way she was expecting it to. She inwardly hissed through her teeth at the sight of his shadowy blood. "Explain" She gave a curt nod still in shock as she looked up to meet his eyes.
"I Will but, first you have to tell me, have you always bled like this or did it start recently?" Of course the janus knew what it meant, it was her job, and even though it was probably redundant she walked over to a nearby cobweb and brought it back over to Ghazen before pressing it firmly into his self inflicted wound exactly how Littlestar taught her to.
Her shocked expression did not escape the tom as she went rushing for cobwebs. He didn't blame her. This was all very sudden, but he couldn't help but chuckle at it. Maybe he should do this to all the Janus and some of the real leadership in the Clan. His attention snapped back into reality when he felt her press the cobwebs into his open wound. He wasn't gonna say no, but his time as rogue taught him to disinfect the wound first. Whatever. He'd take it off when she wasn't looking.
He shook his head when after she finished speaking. "After returning." He then made the same set of motions with his eyes: first to MoonClan, then to the rogue lands, then finally to SunClan. He tilted his head to the side and took a step back from the Janus. She had to understand that time. It was clear enough before, but she-cat was too distracted to listen to what he had to say. He opened his mouth to speak again. "Cursed. Lunar Captain." Maybe she wouldn't be too fond to hear that, but it needed to be said. It wasn't often there was a defector like that anyway.
