Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Thistlestar made his way from the leader's den, his head pounding with unexpected pain. It had been ongoing now, for two days, but the Springclan leader remained silent on the issue. He glanced around at his clanmates in an attempt to distract himself. He saw how strong the apprentices had begun to look and marveled at the kits, who were playing in the clearing they called camp. The sun had begun to rise, lighting up the Springclan camp. He had overslept today, leaving him one of the last cats to wake for the day. It was uncharacteristic and he hoped to Starclan no one would notice.
"The patrol should be back soon," He mumbled to himself, licking a paw and drawing it over his ear, applying pressure to his head as he did in vain hope of relieving some of the tension. It would ahve been easier to just go to the medicine cats and ask for some herbal remedy, but the leader never cared much to take herbs. Reminded him too much of his mother when she was fatally sick...
Thistlestar shook his pelt roughly and walked towards the entrance of camp. Staying in camp would have helped but it would also give the leader leeway to remain distracted by the throbbing pain in his head. Maybe a morning walk would help clear away the pains, even for a few moments.
"Dad!" Came the familiar voice of Juniperkit as she bounded toward his father. "Are you going out to the forest? Can I come with you?" He perked his ears and looked up at his father with high hopes that Thistlestar would say yes.
The familiar voice of Juniperkit made the leader stop immediately in his tracks and turn. He looked back to face his son, a near perfect replicate of the leader himself. Thistlestar found himself instinctively smiling, but it turned forced as a small sharp pain shot through his head. His jaws clenched tightly in attempt to remain still as the pain passed.
"Your mother wouldn't like the idea, especially since I know you did not ask her permission before leaving the nursery just now, am I correct?" He ask teasingly, his spring green eyes softened as he playfully scorned the kit before him.
Juniperkit looked away from his father and lowered his ears. "no...I didn't" he mumbled. "But she would have said no." He looked up at Thistlestar once again, his eyes round and pleading.
Thistlestar stared for a few quiet moment, slowly sighing as he took in the young kit. It took everything in the Leader not to melt completely to the whim of the kit just at the sight of his pleading orbs alone. He could already mentally hear Beedust's loving chides against him being too lenient.
A movement behind the kit caught the leader's attention and he turned his gaze fully towards the blinding white figure. "Yarrowsong, would you mind doing me a favor?" The leader spoke up, his tone firm yet gentle as he called forth the pretty white she-cat who was just on her way towards the warrior's den. Yarrowsong abruptly stopped, her expression revealing a momentary lapse of surprise before brightening up as she skipped over to Juniperkit's side, nodding to him cheerfully before turning back to Thistlestar who spoke up before she could "Please let Beedust know that Juniperkit is joining me for a walk right outside of camp."
"Of course! No problem! I will let her know right away Thistlestar!" She quipped happily, turning down to look at Juniperkit, nudging him gently "Have fun!" She whispered loudly, winking with her pair of mismatched eyes before skipping away in content.
Thistlestar chuckled under his breath "Follow closely and quickly. We have to escape before your mom comes out charging in opposition." He half-teased, picking up the pace as he made his way out of the camp.
At Thistlestar's command to Yarrowsong, a bright and excited look appeared on his face. He gave a small bounce, anxious to begin their exploration. He purred when Yarrowsong nudged him and told him to have fun. He watched the white warrior leave and then bounded after his father. "I like Yarrowsong! She's really nice!"
Thistlestar chuckled out loud, looking down at his son with a small smile "Yarrowsong is very kind indeed." He agreed with ease, his gaze staring ahead as he thought of where to take Juniperkit. In the few, short moments of consideration, his mind was set on a destination and his paws began to take him there. "This must be your first time leaving camp isn't it?" He asked curiously, turning down to take in his son as the two made their way through the forest.
"Well, this would be a grand adventure for you." Thistlestar purred, his words bordered on excitement. Surprisingly, it didn't take long for the cats to find their way out of the forest and in clear sight of a flower field, which was bright with seas of color. "This is the flower field." He spoke up, his tail pointing out to the lush field. "This time of year is the best to see the various plants and flowers that grow here."
(This response sent me back to the Bambi two movie when the two are flocking in a field and there is butterflies and the dad actually starts playing around with Bambi for the first time! ;O;)
"Whoa..." He whispered under his breath, looking out into the open. Suddenly, a grasshopper leaped in front of him. Juniperkit crouched, wriggled his haunches, and leaped at the grasshopper. When he landed, a few sprung up out of the tall grass. The kit leaped again and when he landed, a few more grasshoppers sprung up. He gave a delighted laugh.
Thistlestar stared out with content wonder, though his stern expression kept his true emotions hidden well. Things shifted though as Juniperkit began his attack on a stray grasshopper. He stepped forward cautiously, scanning the field for any signs of danger "Junierpaw you have to be careful out her-" He started sternly, but in that moment, the kit hopped onto a new spring of tall grass causing a swarm of grasshoppers to fly out, some landing on the Leader's snout. He jumped slightly with shock, shaking his head free of the grasshopper's clutches before breaking out in laughter, forgetting all about chiding his kit in that cheerful moment.
(your not dumb! You probably got the scene confused with the one where Bambi dreams of his mother and is frollicking through the meadow with all the butterflies!)
Juniperkit burst into laughter as the grasshopper landed on Thistlestar's muzzle and he continued to stomp the ground, making grasshoppers exploded from the ground. "Woohoo!" He cried as he bounced around.
Thistlestar stared on for just a brief moment, enjoy the sight of the pure and innocent joy of kithood before finding inspiration to follow the kit's lead. He bent over to a patch of tall grass and stomped into it only to receive a face full of crickets himself. "Woah!" He called out in happy surprise, his green gaze wide with kit-like excitement and wonder. Even as a kit, he never felt the kind of happiness he felt in that moment.
Juniperkit laughed and bounced around with his dad. It felt amazing to have this much fun with him. He looked at his father with wide eyes and a big grin.
The laughter was infectious, forcing Thistlestar to remain in a storm of laughter and giddiness. He jumped again, stomping at a new patch of tall grass just as a spray of crickets jumped from their hiding spot. Just as Thistlestar turned to catch the happy expression of his son, a sudden wave of nausea hit him. Suddenly, his world had begun to sway and the floor below him shake and sway powerfully, enough to knock the leader off of his feet and to the grassy patch.
"Dad!" Juniperkit's happy expression melted into horror as he saw his father fall into the tall grass. He took both his front paws and began shaking him. "Dad! Are you okay?" Tears formed in his eyes. He turned, looking for anyone that may be out hunting or patrolling. "Help! Anyone!" His voice shook with grief and fear for his father.
(Wow. We went from Bambi to the Lion King in one post XD)
Thistlestar's brows furrowed tightly as he tried to stop his world from spinning. Juniperpaw's words were slightly muffled in the leader's shaky vision of the world, but it was just clear enough to understand. "Juniper-" He meowed in a low and surprisingly calm voice. Despite the fear and confusion that pulsed through his veins, the grief that filled his son's voice was enough for him to force down his own concerns for the sake of the kit. "Do you remember the trail back home?" He asked quietly, his breathing now heavy.
