Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The dark tabby could barely see where he was going as he ran through the cool nighttime air. The new moon hanging above his head left the landscape in almost complete darkness, save for the human city's glimmering skyline on the far eastern horizon. The smells of the last Gathering still lingered in the air, with a mix of some other cats thrown in. It was a perfect meeting place, for now. The blend of scents would make it impossible for anyone to track him or his coworkers, and the clearing was easy to find. He wanted to find some other place, but the Clan's gathering place had all the things he needed. The tom slowed to stop beneath the trees where he himself once sat as an equal with the rest of the leaders. Maybe that time would return. Omega just needed some luck to make it happen. His eyes turned to the darkness surrounding the clearing. All that was left was to wait for the recruits.
"Are we really the first ones here?" Discordantmeldoy's sing-song voice preceded her as the beautiful calico she-cat shouldered her was through the sparse undergrowth. At her side was the DayClan apprentice Sootpaw, whom she had recruited to join Fire Gang one way or another, "Your soldiers are strong but will never conquer the forest if they cannot learn time management. Of course, I am one to speak, as I am late myself." She padded up to Omega and bowed her head to her leader, sitting down at his right side. She carried herself with confidence befitting of royalty but wore a cheshire smile, "I hope the summer has been treating you well."
Sootpaw followed Discordantmelody but said nothing. She wasn't sold on being here, but she'd better make her decision quick because she knew these cats weren't playing around. The black apprentice let her gaze land on the cat who was obviously in charge here and copied the other she-cat, bowing her head. Instead of sitting by either of them, she sat a bit off to the side. Sootpaw wondered if the cat she'd met recently would come tonight, but before her thoughts went fully down that track, a ruddy red tom burst through the underbrush, fluffy tail swaying back and forth. "Hey!" he called, purring and bounding forward, pressing his nose to her in greeting. "I'm ready for that meeting you mentioned!" Then he turned to the other two cats sitting there and introduced himself cheerfully. "Evening! I'm Oak, some call me Oakie." Sootpaw raised a brow but remained quiet. She wasn't going to call him that cutsie name, that was for sure.
Siren walked quietly into the gathering area, an air about her that spoke of death. Her voice and beauty captured many, and her claws did the dirty work. They were practically stained with cat's blood by this point. Pausing below the place Omega had claimed as his own, she smiled up at him her sickly sweet smile that captured many hearts. "These are the cats you've recruited? Really my dear? They're merely apprentices in their clans!" She was annoyed to find that she'd be working with such young, inexpeirnced cats, but hopefully, dear sweet Omega would prove her wrong.
Oak looked over at the newcomer and quickly moved toward her, interest all over his face. "Oh, I'm not an apprentice," he said, voice holding a hint of attitude. "I don't live in those clans! They're so strict about their naming rules, there's no individuality, they don't let you be yourself. I'm my own cat." Then Oak looked back at Sootpaw and explained a bit further, this time shifting his gaze to directly meet that of the cat in charge. "Sootpaw said the cats I'd meet tonight would let me keep my individuality if I met with them. Is that the truth?"
He never asked for a bow, but he liked it. It suited his whole thing this time around. He tolerated dissent in Toxicity. That would not fly again. He acknowledged Discordantmelody's bow with a short nod before setting his eyes on Sootpaw. Who was this tom? He looked... weak. He just stared at the tom while he bowed, refusing to give him the same acknowledgement he gave Discordantmelody. Whoever he was had to prove himself first. Just as he was about to address Sootpaw, the other one decided to show up.
He flattened his ears as Oak's voice hit his ears. He cast Discordant a quick glare before returning his gaze to Oak. That one really needed some shaping up. A few days training with him or Siren would work wonders. He smiled at Siren as she emerged from the surrounding undergrowth. She wasn't wrong. The pair were the oldest by a large margin, but he liked that. He leaned into Siren's ear and said "They're easier to turn when they're young. Besides, I doubt we'll see any direct combat. We don't have the numbers."
He fired a glare at Oak this time. He already didn't like this tom. "Yes, I suppose. We want loyalty. I couldn't care less what you call yourself." He scanned over the cats there were present before rising to his paws. "Unfortunately, we're missing some friends here, but we can start. All of you look around. These cats now mean more to you than your family." He paused. "If you can't handle that, leave now."
Arcticsong was about to walk in when she heard Omega's words and instead turned and walked right back out. This was the second time someone was telling her someone was family when they weren't. She didn't appreciate liars.
Harvestpaw turned to watch Arcticsong leave as he padded in. For as much as he wanted to impress Omega, sit where Discordantmelody was sitting he didn't want to draw attention to himself. He was late and on top of everything he was certain that half the people here knew about what happened. He just wanted to blend into the background.
Discordantmelody followed Omega's growl to the poor little Oakie. She wasn't sure what a soft-hearted cat like him was doing here, but it didn't matter, Omega could make any cat into a fearsome Warrior, sometimes they just took a little more... creative persuasion. She opened her mouth to spout some clever insult the rogue's way when she scented a familiar cat and turned to see Harvestpaw of all cats approaching the group. She hadn't pegged him to actually show up here. It was impressive... but she didn't like the whole, lay low and pretend I'm a background character kind of vibes he was giving, "Harvestpaw, my dear, come over here. You've met Omega, I presume?"
"No, not really," Harvestpaw said, almost stiffly. He wasn't entirely trusting in Discordantmelody, but at the same time no one else had approached him, "Why did you actually meet Fire Gang's leader?"
Sootpaw's eyes landed on the tom who had just spoken. Somewhere in her heart, something stirred. She leaned forward slightly, almost imperceptibly, to see where this conversation would go.
Beside her, Oakie beamed and lashed his fluffy tail in excitement. It had been quite a while since he had been a part of something.
"I know lots of cats." Was all the explanation that Discordantmelody was willing to offer Harvestpaw at the moment. She went to lean into Omega's shoulder then stopped herself, knowing this tom was likely to cuff her over the ears if she tried, then cleared her throat, "Omega, this is the apprentice I was telling you about, the one with a curse. Apparently he can't die. Isn't that right, Harv?"
