Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
She hadn't been in SwiftClan very long but, it was a good thing she arrived when she did. It hardly been two weeks since Indigo had joined their clan and her kits had decided that tonight was the night they would also join SwiftClan's ranks. She had barely drifted off to sleep before her kitting started, and while the pain wasn't too bad yet, she was scared, the only kitting she had ever been in attendance for had ended in a bloody horror show, that left two cats injured including herself. The mother hadn't made it and only two of the three kits had survived. It was only natural that she would want the only cat she really knew in the clan to be with her, so she had sent someone to wake Beastrefrain in the warrior's den. The only issue with that was he refused to come inside the nursery and instead had stationed himself outside like a guard.

He knew this was coming.
Knew Bloody had enough tricks up his sleeve to see Satin when he shouldn't. When she shouldn't. At the time, Beastsrefrain stopped caring. Not that he stopped worrying. When she threw herself into the river, he was worried. Even when Indigo came, he had a sinking feeling the kits were killed in the fall. Or the walk. Or anything. Now they were coming, and just the thought of being in there made his stomach turned.
When he was sent for, he immediately went to the medicine cat den to find Firetooth on his way. There were also plenty of other queens that could help. That's how Beastsrefrain justified sitting here, outside of the nursery and trying to keep his dinner in him. Kits and him never mixed. Hell, he led a bunch to take over a carnival at one point. Some died that day and he was dubbed the kit killer. Which was admittedly fine. It kept kits away from him. And him away from kits. Newborns were the worse, not as bad as watching them get born. He should be in there, he knew. Supporting his friend. Instead, he sat out here. "You're doing great, Indigopastels. I know it." The cream point yelled back, his words really only giving himself some comfort.
It was a good thing Bloodyrondo wasn't here with her now, the only thing bringing her mild comfort in the moment was envisioning raking her claws through his golden fur. Unfortunately her day dream wasn't enough to fully block out the pain. She wished she had listened to her mom now more than ever, she even wished her mom was here to help her. Even just a familiar face would be welcome at this point. She hadn't forgotten that Beastrefrain sat dutifully outside, earning suspicious looks from others. She didn't respond until the wave of pain subsided, taking a deep breath and relaxing into her nest.
"How would you know? You're not even in here." She did her best to keep the annoyance out of her voice. It wasn't his fault she was in pain, and it would be unfair to hold him accountable for the situation. "I'm sorry" she sighed after a moment. "I just wasn't expecting it to hurt this much."

Beastsrefrain felt a pang in his heart. He knew he should have been in there. But he also knew the one time he had to help Little with a birth went as awfully as expected. Really, it was far less painful for both of them if he wasn't in there. But there was no easy way to say that. Even thinking about it sent a shiver down his spine. Her apology seemed like proof enough it was going okay, most of the time they didn't have the wits to apologize like that. When he peaked out from under his paws and saw the strange looks everyone was giving him, his fur puffed up on instinct.
"Ugh, fine." Beastsrefrain stood up and took a deep breath before forcing his paws to walk into the nursery. That last birth flashed behind his eyes, all the blood and the screaming making him pause briefly before pushing through. He made a point of not looking at Indigopastels, stomach testing his resolve as he laid next to her, gaze more interested in the small space separating them than her. "It'll be okay." He purred, for her sake and his own to keep himself from rocking out of anxiety.
