Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
He couldn’t keep doing this, There was just too much on the line to handle, his heart torn in pieces, bleeding from a wound no one would ever see. There was just something about the broken cats that surrounded himself that made him love them despite his better judgement. He already had a mate he loved dearly, and he would never do anything that would prompt him to be disloyal to Constantine, that still didn’t stop him from feeling the way he did about the others. Avette drove him crazy with everything she was down to her annoying lavender scent that he could never rid himself of. Now he found his thoughts constantly drifting to his new Medium and those haunted yellow-green eyes of his. The look he gave the cardinal the night they met still burned into his memory.
Maybe that’s why the cardinal spent so little time in camp lately and spent nearly every night out wandering the moor as if Selene herself would come down and clear his frazzled mind. Tonight was no different, when he finally flopped over into the tall grass with a sigh. At least here he was alone.
He was acutely aware of the perilous situation he was placing himself in by venturing this far from his clanmates. What had started off as a simple adventure - he wanted to explore around the lake further and see the land above it - had turned into a mistake when he ended up quite lost. Somewhere east of the gathering place he had realized he was headed in the wrong direction, but it wasn't until he found fresh scent markers that he realized just how badly he had screwed up to find himself by MoonClan land. A rational cat would have waited at the border for guidance back home, but he was too embarrassed to admit what had happened. He still had some pride, or rather he simply didn't want the enemy clan to know how incompetent and vulnerable he was.
So he turned his mistake into purpose: he was here to seek out the leader and speak with him. It was a half-baked plan but it was all he had, so the ginger tom proceeded cautiously across the border and wandered through the maze of scents until he found Leviathan's, still familiar in his mind from the last gathering they had both attended. Chimerastar followed after it until he spotted a cat laying down in the grasses and cleared his throat.
The black and white tom sat up quickly, mostly startled by his sudden company, and was even more startled by the fact he hadn't heard the tom approach. He looked at the nomadic leader quizically. Of all the leaders he had expected to see here, Chimerastar was definitely the last. "It must be really important if you came all the way here by yourself, in the middle of the night just to tell me." As if he words had sparked his own alarm in regards to the situation he stood up quickly as he looked around, his amber eyes wide even though his tone remained calm.
"I heard you're only awake at night," he responded with a shrug. "Did I disturb something important?" He swept his half-gaze slowly over the tom, lying prone on the moor until his arrival, and suspected not.
"Our newest hunting grounds are near yours, down below the lake," Chim explained, drifting closer. "I don't expect we'll have any problems with border clashes, but just in case, I wanted to assure you our cats will not be crossing the border. We're having some new apprentices stay with us soon, and if some of them stray too far, you have my full permission to chase them off, and after I will deal with them accordingly." He paused. "Of course, if you're willing . . . SwiftClan likes to get to know our neighbors. Share prey and stories at feasts."
Chim didn't know the MoonClan Cardinal well enough to guess his answer, and that made him nervous. His offer of a feast had been turned down more than once and it was no water off his back if Levee didn't want to share a meal, but he had to have some excuse to come all this way, and his clan did enjoy feasts.
"That is very considerate of you to come all this way just to warn me about possible misunderstandings." he dipped his head politely, noticing just how weirdly he had worded that statement, even for him. "No you didn't I was just taking a moment to collect myself, You have my word we'll see to it your apprentices are dealt with unharmed." His ears perked up at the mention of a feast, a genuine smile spreading across his his features. "We would be delighted to join you for a feast, we have our own coming up as well. If you decide you would like to get away from the gathering this full moon you're more than welcome to join us as well."
"I'm glad to hear it," he responded politely, "all of it. SwiftClan would be pleased to join you in a feast sometime. We like to get to know our neighbors and assure you we are no threat to your lives." Chim bowed his head, a sign of respect, and a chance to reassemble his thoughts while his face was hidden. The awkward formality of the situation was weighing on him, and he was starting to think he should just be honest.
"There was another reason I came here to meet you," he admitted eventually, sneaking a glance up at the other leader again. "I'm afraid I don't know which way my camp is from here."
Leviathan dipped his head politely in response, he could tell that the other cat was bothered by something but decided to wait patiently for the other tom to decide when he wanted to share it with him. When he did a small smile graced the cardinal's lips and amusement shone in his eyes, but he did not openly laugh or even chuckle at the ginger leader.
"That is a predicament" he purred. "Where did you last set up camp? I'll walk you back." he added already rising to his feet.
"That won't be necessary," Chim assured him swiftly, his eyes widening. "I don't mean to waste any more of your time. If you can just point me in the right direction, I can find my way there." He swished his tail as the leader stood up and looked at him helplessly. He could use a guide back, certainly, but he didn't expect Leviathan himself to take him there.
"We're living between SpringClan and the League, closer to the mountain clans."
