Frecklednose dashed out of camp, running a short ways to warm up her muscles for a day of hunting. She had decided on a full day of hunting and steered towards the river, intending to cross the log bridge to get to rabbit meadows. The tabby warrior was fast and rabbits were much more her speed than those slow mice.
Dawnbreak was wandering around the banks of the river hoping to find something to catch though the season wasn't helping with an early cold snap. He wasn't fast enough to try and catch a rabbit in the meadows so he had hoped to find something that had ventured out into the cold along the river banks.

On her way there, Frecklednose stopped near a low and steady part of the river lowering her head and drinking the cold water slowly. Nothing was better than a cool drink of water in the middle of a run. Her ears perked up as she heard movement nearby and she swung around, stalking through the dead grass careful until another cat came into view. Oh, it was just Dawnbreak. "Afternoon." The tortoiseshell stood and greeted her fellow warrior.
the sound of another voice greeting him startled the tom a little bit. He spun around to find Frecklednose not far behind him and he smiled in greeting. "Hi." he greeted the she-cat.
"The time of year hasn't helped much with prey running." Dawnbreak said. It had been an early start to the cold season especially for SummerClan and that meant that prey was running lower than usual though the clan wasn't starving by any stretch of the imagination.

She nodded. "That's true, but at least the prey isn't sick anymore. In a way I feel like that starvation prepared us for the lower amount of prey this feels like a feast compared to greenleaf." Frecklednose noted. Certainly all of their stomachs had shrunk and many of the kits and apprentices did not know what bountiful prey looked or felt like. They would be in for a pleasant surprise come newleaf.

She nodded with understanding. Frecklednose's mother had come to Summerclan before she kitted so clanlife was all the young warrior had ever known. "It was a truly awful thing. I've seen cats die in battle and sickness before but... I've never seen anything take so many cats so quickly." it was a quiet mew as she remembered it with a chill. "You have come during a better time." She told the tom cheerfully.
"I can't really imagine what that must have been like. Before we joined SummerClan it was just my parents and my sister and I living in an old long abandoned two-leg den where we were born and raised. Then one day a fire appeared during the middle of the night and my dad was able to get me Whisperedbreeze and I out safely but our mom got trapped by the roof collapsing and dad got badly burned trying to save her." Dawnbreak said.

"I'm sorry to hear that." The brown tabby said sadly. It was always hard to lose a family member and she was the only one out of her four littermates that was still alive and her mother grew older with every passing day.
