Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(I'd like him to be discovered and taken prisoner, but he will fight back until Wintrystar appears)
The cold buried deep into his skin like ticks. He had come in from the wrong side of the mountain, it was far more treacherous coming around from the back. When he had started his journey it had been day, but now he was in the thick of night. The winds howled all around him like the cold were a pack of wolves piling onto him, ready to take him down. Alvah Faris wasn't of ordinary cat stature, he towered above the snow where other felines would sink deep. His muscular build and long furred aided him as he began to scale down the last slope towards the flattened barren land of WinterClan territory.
He let out a huff as he hit the bottom, he could no longer see his breath as much as he had. If it wasn't for the white landscape he probably could have faded into the darkness thanks to his black as night pelt. He walked forward, feeling his paws ache. His legs wanted to go limp, to crumble, but he easily powered through like he had walked past pain more heinous than this. Possibly the most distinctive feature about the tom were the unique pair of silver streak fur that came out from his shoulder blades down his back like angel wings.
Tasked with strengthening the border's scent markers by Wintrystar, Snakefang set out across the blank landscape. As usual, it was a boring landscape, nothing but a grayish white canvas with a few large trees to break the cycle. It was the place he called home; he couldn't imagine living anywhere else. It was peaceful and provided just enough for WinterClan cats to live comfortably. He couldn't complain. However, there was one thing he didn't quite agree with - the allowance of prisoners to enter their ranks. The incident with the Regime cats and the underground tunnels has long since been resolved, but that was another matter. He had gained something from that. But who was to say that the others weren't there for far more nefarious intent?
As he approached the border, something dark moved out of the corner of his eye, catching his attention and breaking him of his thoughts. Pausing mid-step, he turned his attention towards what it was. Black fur. Feline features. Judging from that, they aren't from around here. He crouched quickly and stared at the intruder. They must not be aware of his presence, so he had the element of surprise. From the looks of it, they were slightly larger than he was but he was confident that, if it came to it, he would win in a confrontation. Besides, what would they know about combat in this terrain. Smirking, he inched closer toward the stranger.
Alvah Faris tasted the air, but it was cold, brittle, the wind stung frost onto his tongue making him scrape at it between his teeth. Suddenly the wind changed, calmed, the air dying down to something of a faint whisper and the night fell into silence. He arched his head, this time listening as the scent of another cat spilled onto his tongue. When he couldn't pick up on any sounds he continued none to warily through WinterClan's territory. At this point he recognize he wasn't just on their land, he was deep into it. Having taken the windy mountain route he had never picked up that he had invaded their land and missed their border. At this point he was cold, there was no way he was going to pick up frostbite attempting to find the border.
Whoever was out there was clearly watching him, possibly waiting for the right moment, but to Alvah Faris it pleased him. There was nothing that energized him more than combat. So he kept his senses low, not attempting to find where the nearby scent was coming from, preferring the first move to be a surprise. Back home he was considerably strong, he had made his way into the ranks of the Bright Brigade, only the strongest cats could get such a title. His ears pricked once before continuing his walk, the crunch of snow loud like thunder in the silent night.
The tom followed a few tail lengths away from the intruder, reluctant to make the first strike. Judging from his reaction, Snakefang realized that his scent must have been caught. He cursed himself. How could forget something like that? The soft sound of snow crunching filled his ears in the silence that filled the void that the wind left. Maybe he could reposition himself or...maybe not. Although he had the advantage in this terrain, it was just him after all. He had to be careful. On the other hand, he could just reveal himself right and eliminate trying to surprise them. Right now, that seemed like the better option. Standing up to his full height he announced his presence.
"Hello there. You must be lost," he said with a slight grin on his face; he didn't want to come off as too friendly or risk appearing weak.
"And you must be trouble," Alvah Faris retorted, his grim reaper soulless gaze seemed to stare right through the toms anatomy. He returned back a crooked grin, his head angling to the side a little too far for comfort, "I'm actually on my way to pronounce my affections towards a particular she-cat in WinterClan so maybe you can help me out before I freeze alive out here in the open?"
He rolled his shoulders back, there was no games being played. He was literally asking Snakefang to take him to camp and expecting him him to do so. He must have had some manners though as with a forced kind smile he added, "Please."
He ignored the first response, choosing to let it pass through one ear and out the other. The tom returned his gaze, unbothered by it. He had seen and experienced far worse than some unsettling body language. He titled his head, unsure of what he meant. There were a number of she-cats in WinterClan. What would any of them have to do with him. "A she-cat huh? Hmm...what's their name?" he questioned. "And where did you come from?"
Just like Snakefang he ignored the first question and answered the second, "I came from DayClan, but I must have made a wrong turn because I came from the choppy side of the mountains," He said, but when he saw that Snakefang wasn't moving anywhere he walked up closer to the tom, sniffing him at a distance. If he could pick up on his scent he could just follow it back to his home. It was faint, but more information than he had before. He shouldered past the tom and tried to continue on his way to find their camp, although a faint scent meant next to nothing if the winds decided not to stay calm.
"Hey, hold on a minute there, stranger." he said turning around. "Answer the question. "What business do you have with the female?" He narrowed his eyes at the tom's backside. Why is he being so difficult? And did he say he was from DayClan? He's bit a ways off from that territory, isn't he? "If you answer, I might help you."
Alvah Faris didn't openly cringe, but internally his heart felt like it was being strangled, he had lost a few beats at the question. Glancing away from Snakefang he turned his head back to him reluctantly getting the words out, "I met her on the blind date and I want to let her know that I'm committed to her. That I would like to join WinterClan and-" His paw stirred awkwardly in the ground, "Have a life with her," He growled the rest out under his breath. He felt stupid saying it out loud, it was why he only told his sister and foster mother. Now saying it to this stranger everything about it felt wrong, but he knew in his heart that he wanted to be with her. He never wanted anything, everything in life was dull, boring, but she wasn't.
"She's very reserved, I don't want to embarrass her if she does not reciprocate my feelings so I would rather keep this private," Alvah Faris explained, which was probably the nicest communication he ever had with anyone.
"Hmm...," he grumbled looking the tom over. Seeing as to how he was reacting, he had to be telling the truth or else he was a pretty good liar.Another one from the blind date, huh? That reminded him of his first date with Bluejay and how she wanted to live a life with him. He relaxed a bit, feeling sympathy for him. "What's her name? I might be able to help you find her," he meowed, willing to offer his help in uniting the two of them if what he said was true. "But, before that, what's your name, stranger?"
"Oh my name is Alvah Faris, but you can just call me Faris," He said absent mindedly, still trying to decide if he should tell Snakefang, "Listen, this blind date I was on, she was pretty high in superiority and like I said, I'm getting the feeling that she comes off as hating outsiders and wouldn't want to be called a hypocrite. So if I tell you I really need your word to not tell anyone else in your clan," He said, for once being vulnerable. At least if it meant that he could have one more conversation with her just to know for certain what their relationship was or could be.
Alvah Faris. "Well you'd be surprised who we're letting in nowadays," he muttered under his breath. "I have nothing to gain or lose from you telling me that information so why not. You showing up would be enough cause for concern though, especially if you're coming all that way from DayClan, but you have my word; I will not tell anyone else," he assured.
Wintrystar had come out to enjoy the night air, drawn by the storm that was surely approaching if the wind was anything to go by. She'd sent out Snakefang earlier, to strengthen the borders before the storm hit, but he'd yet to return. She wasn't worried, but she preferred that all cats were accounted for when a storm hit, least they have to go searching for bodies after it was over. Her pace was quick, she'd only get close enough to the border to catch his scent, anything more and she risked the clan losing their leader to a storm. There weren't very many caves out this way that would be large enough for her to squeeze into and wait out the storm, especially if more than one cat was in there.
(Pao you should have Wintrystar jump in cause Alvah's going to reveal the truth xD)
"Well, I went on this blind date in DayClan and I met this girl of upper class," Alvah Faris began to retell because it was still hard to spit the words out, he didn't want to betray her trust, but he also needed to see her again, "Basically it's your clan le-"
