Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
From behind Smokepaw he could hear a small rustle from the undergrowth where Gingersnap laid. It was so easy to watch him when his clan allowed anyone inside their borders. He was so pretty with this ethereal black fur and snowy patches of white. She let out a deep sigh, he was so perfect, she wanted him so badly. Although despite her having a warrior name he was older than her, maybe that was a turn off for him? Or maybe her kittypet heritage was too obvious, she was clearly a purebred flame point siamese, but she was also adopted by the soothsayer who was once a DayClan cat. So like, that had to count for something!
Smokepaw had been dragged along on a patrol but at the threat of foxes, he had obviously bolted. After running back toward the camp, the tom was exhausted. He hadn't been an apprentice long enough to really develop his lungs for running great distances, so he was now laying on the ground panting, still shaking with fear and adrenaline. He remained on the ground until his breathing slowed. Smokepaw was still feeling uneasy at being away from the camp though, even more so because there were no others around to protect him if a fox suddenly appeared. To make matters worse, the sound of his soft breathing was now so quiet that he could hear every rustle and sound around him in the forest. It was terrifying. A particular rustle and sigh alerted him that he was definitely not alone, and the tom jumped to his feet in alarm. He wanted to ask who was there, but his voice came out as only a squeak. He was embarrassing himself in front of whatever clanmate was there, but honestly oh well. Smokepaw turned around and started running again, desperate to be back at camp where there was a cloak of safety.
Gingersnap peaked her head through the bush in time to watch Smokepaw run off. His warrior name should really be smokebomb on account of all the times he could just run off spontaneously...
"Hey, wait up cutie!" Gingersnap called after him before giving chase. If there was anything she loved to do it was racing another cat. SunClan and DayClan's lands were great at that, she could run around for hours never needing to swerve out of the way of too many trees. She gained on him before trying to tackle pounce on him, "It's Gingersnap!!" She called out to him, her giggling spiraling behind her as it was caught and thrown back in the wind. She had big dreams for the two of them, she could see it now. She would sneak over the borders in the dead of night to see him and they would kiss a lot. But then she wouldn't come back to DayClan and suddenly Smokepaw would work up the nerve to visit her in SunClan, but he would be captured and meet her again in SunClan's prison. And oh the tragedy! But their love would conquer all and she would help teach him the ways of SunClan. Then he would grow up brave and stronger than he ever was in DayClan and they would become mates and have lots of kittens. Such a tragic yet stunningly happily romance they would have.
Smokepaw didn't register the name or voice until a small body barely landed on his back. He was going to die! The tom completely stopped moving and dropped to the ground, feeling whatever had jumped on him roll off. He panted with his ears back in fear, breathing in sharp little breaths that brought in a very familiar scent. Then he perked up and felt the fear begin to subside. Gingersnap! Smokepaw sat up quickly and turned in one fluid motion, nosing at the tiny she-cat to make sure he hadn't accidentally hurt her. "You're in DayClan!" he cried after a moment, pulling his nose away from Gingersnap. "Why are you here? I just ran away from a patrol hunting foxes! You could have gotten eaten." The idea deeply frightened him. He imagined the red jaws of an angry fox picking up his friend and biting down like he did on a piece of prey and the thought made him sick. He added, "And if you get eaten then who will protect me at gatherings? I'll have to stay in DayClan's camp forever."
Gingersnap rolled off of Smokepaw before stumbling back onto her paws, "SMOKEY!" She shouted out gleefully as she stood awkwardly on one leg that she sprained. Her aquamarine eyes lit up in surprise, stay in camp? Forever! "You're such a mouse brain some days! You can't stay in camp cause there might be a fox. Like once I was just sitting down at home and my den caught on fire, but then it turned out that the fire was to lead me outside so I could be promoted to be a Janus and get my warrior name! Sometimes disasters mean great things! Oh. Um... Don't tell anyone I told you that though, we're not supposed to share secret information, I don't want my parents to get mad at me."
He smiled at the nickname and felt already more at ease now that his friend was here. Gingersnap's story about the fire confused him a bit so he chose not to inquire further, deciding he'd probably find out more about it later. Smokepaw hesitantly prodded at her with one paw, trying to get into the swing of having a cat that he could actually be friendly with. The movement was foreign but nice. He hoped Gingersnap wouldn't bite his paw off in retaliation. "Are your parents as scary as you are Ginger?" Then his eyes flew open as her previous statement registered into his brain. He let out a little cry. "You shouldn't tell me secret information! What if someone takes me prisoner and rips out all my claws?? I'd tell them everything!"
Gingersnap giggled, "Teheheheh, yeah! You would squeal hard if they tore your cute little claws out. I bet the Janus could make you tell anything just by stubbing your toe." The danger her clan poised to others hadn't really sank in because she never thought closely about it. SunClan treated violence as no big deal so there was hardly any reason for her to wonder if they were the bad guys.
"Oh yeah, my mom is super scary, but my dads really nice like me. My mom could make anyone cry if she wanted to, I think I could make anyone laugh if I wanted to," She purred.
(We could fas forward time to the day Gingersnap joins DayClan? And then I'll start the rp of Gingersnap's last day in SunClan ^-^)
(Awesome, we'll fas forward time to when Gingersnap joins DC then!)
Gingersnap took a breath before moving from SunClan's hot stones into DayClan's tall wheat fields. DayClan was her home now, she had come to terms with the fact that SunClan betrayed her, she wasn't betraying them by leaving. They didn't believe in her mom that the Sun God was out of control, she kept SunClan safe by standing up for their rights to the bitter end. Now her family deserved peace from SunClan including herself even if it meant leaving Dapplebreeze. She looked back one more time wishing to see the she-cat still standing there, but it would be fine. DayClan's borders were always open, she could come visit. She hoped she would visit anyways...
Turning back around she continued on her way into DayClan. This was good though, she could finally be with Smokepaw! The flame point siamese peered around the wheat fields. If her Smokepaw senses were correct he should be trying to hide somewhere...
Sootpaw stood behind her brother, shaking her head in annoyance. Smokepaw had been sent out to catch some prey since he had never caught anything before, but the lousy tom was screwing up the task royally. Sootpaw didn't care for her brother but it made her look bad to have such a coward share her blood. She kept trying to give him tips but it was like he was too frightened to even use his claws.
Suddenly, the wind changed direction and there was a scent wafting in the air toward the two DayClan cats. Sootpaw recognized the smell of SunClan, mainly from her interactions with Discordantmelody. Instantly she tensed up, claws sliding out and stance ready for a battle. From the corner of her eye, she saw Smokepaw stand with one paw curled up near his belly and his nose pointing like some kind of hound. Oh, here we go, she thought, eyes rolling. Now she had to deal with this problem all by herself. But to her surprise, Smokepaw suddenly took off in a cloud of smoke and dust toward the SunClan scent and not away from it.
Her eyes widened immensely and she bounded after him, tail straight as a stick. Smokepaw stopped ahead of her where a tiny she-cat was standing, the size of a large kit. Sootpaw opened her mouth to say something - what exactly she wasn't sure - when Smokepaw spoke instead. "Ginger!" he cried ecstatically, lurching forward to brush against Gingersnap, size probably about to knock her over.
Gingersnap leaned up on the tips of her toes nuzzling into him, "Smokey!" She purred before leaning away, her aquamarine eyes shining like light against water, "I've come to join DayClan! Isn't that great, I can protect you all the time now, you don't have to be afraid anymore. Oh! And then when we get older we can get married together without SunClan getting in the way" She said with a romantic sigh, "Wouldn't that be wonderful?"
She patted the side of his cheek comfortingly before noticing Sootpaw and dryly asked, "Who's that?" Gingerpaw was never delighted by another she-cat in Smokepaw's presence.
Smokepaw's eyes widened further than he thought possible. "You're coming to DayClan? Forever?" Her words about marriage shocked him and he chose to ignore them for now. What would Banepaw think? That was a bridge he would cross when he came to it and not a moment before then.
At Gingersnap's words, Sootpaw rolled her eyes up into her head. The apprentice turned around, tail relaxed now. Whatever was going on here, she wasn't interested. "I'm leaving," was all she said, a dull tone to her voice. Then she walked away.
Smokepaw didn't even notice her go. His eyes were still on his best friend. "My sister," he replied quickly, mind already thinking about all the possibilities of having Gingersnap here. "She was going to teach me to hunt today but you can instead! Or I guess you want to go back to the camp? I can show you my nest and you can stay there or I can help you make a new one!" His words came tumbling out in excitement. She was going to always be around now! He'd always have a protector!
Her judgmental expression burst into a look of pure overjoyed excitement, "Your sister! Wow! I love her already," She giggled.
Her head bobbed up in down in rapid glee as Smokepaw began to list all the things they could do, they were going to have the bestest time together! She squealed with anticipation, her paws stomping on the ground as her joy increased before springing into the air, "YES! Let's do it all! We can go back to camp and we can make a nest and then we'll hangout, but if we get bored I can teach you how to hunt. Did you know you can learn even more from hunting than just hunting? Like you like to hide, you can learn a lot about how to hide when hunting prey, it'll help keep you safe."
His head bobbed up and down as she talked. "I want to be really good at hiding," Smokepaw said solemnly. He turned to head back to camp, shoulders raised a little bit with Gingersnap by his side. "Let's go take care of the nest first then!"
When they got into camp there were plenty of nesting materials laid out by the den repairers who commonly collected supplies for the clan.
"Oooh! Sun God or.. Hmm. I don't know anymore, destiny gave us a convenient pile of leaves!" She chirped excitedly. Gingersnap had spent so long in SunClan with everything revolving around a God that she hardly knew how to react normally to anything anymore. Any miracle was immediately spoken as being blessed by the Sun God. Anytime something bad happened cats would say the Sun God must be mad. It was easy to bond over a common almighty being in the sky who disciplined his clan like sinful children. Now that there wasn't a god and said god was exposed as being a vile tom who abused her mother and killed her siblings she wasn't too sure what to say aloud anymore.
"How do you make a nest?" She asked, which was surprising since that was the first thing any apprentice learned was making their nest when they became apprentices, "Actually could you make mine for me? I bet you're great it!"
Smokepaw nodded solemnly. "Of course I can make your nest for you, but you have to tell me if it's comfy enough." Every cat had specific likes and dislikes in a den. Smokepaw preferred his nest to be closed off and small - a place where he could hide away. But Gingersnap deserved something showy and open. He looked at the leaf pile and began rummaging through it, searching for the perfect ones. Finally, he hooked his claw into a particularly large leaf and whipped around to smile brightly at Gingersnap.
"I want to decorate your nest with this color leaf," he explained, tail swaying back and forth with excitement. "They match your fur! Everyone will know the prettiest nest belongs to the prettiest she-cat."
"Ohhh!" Gingersnap cooed with intrigue at the leaf presented to her. Her entire faced flushed with color at the compliment, "EEEEEE!! That's so CUTE!" She said as her front paws tapped against one another, "Yes! I love you Smokepaw, I mean I love the nest, but I also love you too. Do you want to be boyfriend and girlfriend?" It was possibly the most childish proposal ever on account of how plain and simple she presented it, but at the same time it didn't beat around the bush either. Plus she clearly had pure confidence in his nest making skills that she was willing to ask him out without even seeing how capable he was at making a nest for her.
Smokepaw's ears went back at the shrill shriek, but then they perked right back up. His tail shot out in a straight line behind him. "You want to date ... me??" The tom was shocked. There was no way such a brave and beautiful she-cat would be interested in him like that.
He took a hesitant step back away from her and his voice lowered to a whisper. "Gingersnap ... it isn't nice to joke around like that." Her joking was hurting his feelings. "You know there are a billion other DayClan cats you could be with instead. I can't - I can't even hunt for you. Or protect you. I'll be the worst warrior ever."
Smokepaw was wasting his breath. She knew all of that already. Her question had obviously just been a joke. Defeated, the black and white apprentice gently set the leaf down in front of her and turned, walking away with his tail dragging along the ground. He would go back to his own nest and hide there for the next moon.
Gingersnap's tail drooped, but she still followed after him, "You can't? Well, maybe I can help! Besides I like being your protector," She blushed, "I was brought up that my purpose was to be the best at everything, protecting was one of those. Maybe we're the perfect pair because I'm talented at dozens of things so I can make up for anything you don't know and I can teach you everything you want to do. Smokepaw I think about us all the time, I imagine us sharing a nest, attending events together with our tails curled around one anothers, raising a billion kits. Just lots and lots, but when I dream of the future you're always in it. I want you in it, Smokepaw," She said with a shy smile, this time twirling him around to look at her, "Please be my boyfriend Smokepaw?" her begging blue gaze sparkled just staring into his, it was like light bouncing against water staring into her eyes.
Boyfriend? Smokepaw's jaw dropped as he looked at Gingersnap. She really wasn't joking. The fiercest, most beautiful she-cat he had ever laid eyes on wanted to date him. It may have been mere puppy love, but Smokepaw was absolutely sold. He wouldn't complain.
"Gingersnap, I would be honored to be with a she-cat like you." He took a deep breath, looking away before looking back and making a promise he was sure he could not keep. Her eyes were just too beautiful and he did not want to let her down. "And if the time ever comes, maybe I could even protect you, too. I- I will learn how to hunt. And I'll practice fighting. I promise!" Faith
