Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Today was a GIRLS NIGHT OUT! Only when Autumngossamer arrived in DayClan it was pouring out which meant staying inside and likely a sleepover if it didn’t let up. Because there was no way she was going back to SunClan with her makeup running smelling like a wet dog. She just couldn’t do that to herself.
“I guess it’s a girls night in,” Autumngossamer purred lightly to Windchaser with a bit of amusement, “So your kiddos are apprentices now right? Mine just got promoted to apprentice a moon ago,” She said with a bit of discomfort. Windchaser would know when her kits were born and would know they were far too young to be apprentices. This wasn’t uncommon in SunClan, many kits could just decide to be promoted early and SunClan was all too happy to oblige. In her kits case they were pressured to become apprentices. It still broke her heart, they were four moons when they were promoted, but thus far their mentors were understanding and very slow.
Windchaser shot Autumngossamer a surprised look. "Your kits are already apprentices? That would have only made them...what? Four moons?" The ginger and white warrior was settled snug in her nest, keeping warm and dry from the rain outside but was taken by surprise when Autumn mentioned her kits already being apprentices. She didn't like the idea of kits starting their training any sooner than six moons. It was far too dangerous. She was glad Dayclan wasn't like that. She would have a heart attack if her kits had to begin their training so early.
"We don't have the warrior code, but Littlestar is a good leader, but more importantly a mother too. Some kits just like to start early and so the mentors will make them feel like they're training when really they're just helping around the clan and getting to go outside of camp as a reward for helping. I would have never allowed it if Sweet and Harv didn't want this, they're so much different than my first litter," She admitted.
Her first litter were all girls, happy to spend time with her, do crafts and other activities. That was the kind of motherhood she expected and loved, but when Sweet and Harv they both grew up so fast. "They act so much older than Ginger, Scarlet, Sienna, and Amber did. But when I left DayClan again Littlestar had my friend Flawedperspective nurse my litter so maybe they were more independent from it." She said thoughtfully. It had hurt to not be able to mother her own litter, but Littlestar was right, she wasn't mentally prepared. Not that it had been her fault when the Sun God went against her wishes and "blessed her" with fertility. If it had been her choice she would have been more prepared to take on a second litter so close in age with her first.
"Mmm...perhaps but going out of camp is still plenty dangerous. I'm always concerned they will run into a fox or something. Being that young and small, they couldn't possibly go up against one." Windchaser responded. Even though she didn't want to make Autumn worry more about her kits, it was one of Windchaser's actual fears and it kept her babies safe. "But I'm glad to hear that your kits are doing well. I'm proud of all of my kits. Buttercuppaw is doing so well learning about animals and Lilacpaw...well...she's going to be a great leader some day. I can tell."
"Aww, but Windchaser, Sun God protects our kits when they walk out of camp," Autumngossamer said sarcastically with a fat grin as she listened and laughed, "Is that code for, Lilacpaw becoming a foxheart? I mean I've seen her around Littlestar's girls so she doesn't seem that bad."
"Dayclan isn't guarded by the Sun God, remember? And nor will we ever want to be." Windchaser meowed, a hint of a warning tone in her voice before going on like she hadn't just hinted a warning. Her whiskers twitched in amusement as she thought about Lilacpaw. "She's not bad, no. But she doesn't take nothing from no one. She'll tell you how it is and she won't think twice about it. Not sure where she gets it." Windchaser laughed, knowing full well that Lilacpaw gets it all from her mother.
She backed off seeing Windchaser's hostility, yikes, sore spot. No doubt from Bloodyrondo, he revealed his true form while she was still in DayClan with Sweet and Harv. She wondered what Windchaser would say if she knew she had cursed the Sun God.
Autumngossamer snickered, "Yeah, real mystery there. My girls mirror me completely except for Gingersnap, she's in that boy crazy phase. She told me that she heard a story of a tom named Fangpaw who could turn into a bat at night and drink other cats blood. She hopes he'll sweep her off her feet." She seemed to marvel at the insanity before looking briefly at Windchaser, "I still remember when we were apprentices you were much more into boys than I was. You had goo goo eyes for your mate even back then."
Windchaser's whiskers twitched in amusement once more as she remembered the days when everything was sweet and innocent. "Those days were good." She purred. "I remember when I first fell for Illuminatedpath, too. It was the day we found that ghost cat in the tunnels." She shuddered. "That day still gives me the creeps. But Illuminatedpath was so brave!"
"Maybe he got his warrior name from that," Autumngossamer laughed lightly, "I always wondered what my warrior name would have been if I stuck with Heather, hopefully something pretty."
She stared up at the den ceiling, listening to the rain outside, "Would it be okay if I one day moved back to here with my family, do you think?" She asked suddenly, "Just wondering is all," She smirked reassuringly, but inside she knew she wanted to move much sooner. For most of her life she wondered if she could survive living in SunClan, always afraid that the answer would come to her one dreadful day. Now she knew she could survive SunClan, much better than she ever anticipated. However every day was a battle she fought to live, fighting against an immortal enemy. She wasn't leaving because it was a losing battle, but one not worth fighting for. Because this battle wasn't her fight anymore, that would belong to someone after her. At the end of her battle, she could finally understand the appeal of a peaceful life in DayClan.
"You know Glowstar would never turn down a cat wanting to join Dayclan. Especially a previous member." Windchaser responded. Though, she wasn't sure how she felt about Autumn rejoining. They had amended their friendship but the trust between them was still unstable. She had forgiven Autumn but she hasn't forgotten anything. As much as she wished things could go back to the way it was when they were apprentices, it just didn't seem like it ever would be the same. The trust and friendship had been broken. It was going to take time to rebuild and even then, it may never be the same again.
