Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Sweetiepeach pressed her white bengal paw up to her chin, “Maybe here?”
She stuck another sharp pine needle into Fairytalepaw’s cheek, “Feel anything?”
Fairytalepaw clicked his tongue, “Nope, just disappointment.”
“Hmm…” Sweetiepeach replied in deep thought. Fairytalepaw had the unique condition where he couldn’t feel anything, not pain, not touch, nothing, his world was numb. She had felt sorry for the newly made apprentice. Brakewings replaced him with Darkpaw, probably because he didn’t have the ability to understand pain. But now that Fairytalepaw would be training to be a warrior it was dangerous because he would never be able to feel his limit. How would he know how badly wounded he was on a battlefield? She had thought using acupuncture would help, but so far nothing was assisting the tom.
Out of the corner of her eye she caught Mysteryleaf and purred, “Hey Mysteryleaf! Congratulations on getting your warrior name.”
She always felt a connection to Mysteryleaf, they both could have had destinities in Primal Instinct, but through one way or another wound up in DayClan.
Mysteryleaf purred. "Thank you Sweetiepeach, glad to finally join the club at last." She said as she walked over to them. It was nice to finally have reached warrior rank and no longer bear the rank of Maverick. Though it had been hard, she also felt the experience had overall toughened her up a little more. When she'd first arrived in DayClan she'd been an angry moody young apprentice who's mother had left her behind so supposed Mysteryleaf wasn't held back by Crimsonrose. Though Mysteryleaf had to wonder if it was really the other way around and her mother was just lying to herself.
The large black she cat tilted her head. "What are you trying to do?" She asked, she hadn't spent too much time with Fairytalepaw, too busy getting bossed around by other cats for the past few months to really process anything but 'do this thing, or do that thing'
"He doesn't have feeling in any of his limbs, but he does have complete control of his anatomy, walking wise. So I'm trying to reconnect his nerves, but I also have no clue what I'm doing so I'm really just poking him in the hope that he'll eventually say ow," Sweetiepeach explained, "In Primal Instinct I experimented all the time, so it's not too different here."
Fairytalepaw looked up at Mysteryleaf, she had been a Maverick, but she wasn't one anymore, which comforted him. He was a Maverick right now, but he was worried he would never graduate into a class above it. Right now he felt like a failure, he knew he was awkward, he knew he only got passes because he was young and pitied. Maverick class was expected to follow orders, but so far he sucked at doing anything perfectly.
Sweetiepeach stuck another needle into Fairytalepaw, but once again, no reaction, "Have any better ideas to pass the time besides stabbing nerveless cats with pine needles?" She smirked.
Mysteryleaf tilted her head thoughtfully. "Well if we still want to help Fairytalepaw... we want him to be able to know his limits when he can't feel pain right?" She asked, frowning softly mulling it over. "That's really tough since in the heat of battle it'll be hard for him to keep track of blood loss and knowing if he's lost too much blood, or if he's been wounded."
Her tail flicked behind her as she narrowed her eyes. "Maybe if you can't feel pain we just teach him how to avoid getting hurt. If he avoids severe injuries he could become a fearsome fighter," Mysteryleaf meowed. "It is dangerous he doesn't feel pain... but in a fight to the death being unable to discern pain might not be a bad thing, means he wouldn't get slowed down during a fight, he could be brutal." She noted, tail twitching faster as tried to think.
Fairytalepaw offered up a shy smile, it was like Brakewings and Yellowmoon said, he was meant to be a warrior first. He hated it, he knew he was meant to be a medicine cat, but he also recognized that Brakewing's had to go through the same thing before becoming a medicine cat so he shouldn't whine about it. Maybe being a brutal warrior would help him be a better medicine cat and if that was the case it was worth doing his best. "Let's do it! I would love to be untouchable on the battle field."
Mysteryleaf nodded. "Then you can't find better teachers than myself and Sweetiepeach," She said with a purr glancing at her friend.
Now the question was how to begin teaching him. They could do basic sparring but she wanted to get him pumped and encouraged right at the start. So they'd need a challenge he could easily overcome.
Then an idea occurred.
"Sweetiepeach and I just need a moment to discuss the best way to get your training underway," Mysteryleaf said taking Sweetiepeach aside.
"I think the best way to get him motivated to be a great warrior is he needs to get a win under his belt," Mysteryleaf meowed keeping her voice down. "So what if... we find something challenging and soften it up a bit and give him a chance to finish it off?" She suggested. "I keep thinking of fox, my mom used to go on about how league cats could take them, but I feel that's a bit much for a first try."
Sweetiepeach shook her head, "Foxes are smaller over here unless we go deeper into the woods. Even though he's small being an apprentice I think he can do it. He's been trained by Goldenphantom enough to at least know the basics, he's ready."
Fairytalepaw sat back, eagerly waiting. He felt excited knowing he had more mentors in his life, he even got to train with a SunClan apprentice recently. He was more than ready for this!
