Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
I cant speak on your past experiences with online messaging but I personally haven't had any bad encounters as of yet. Skype, to me, is just another messenger to use without having to put your personal information out there. It's not required that you have to use the cam/microphone function. Heck, I don't. But I will say this - using Skype does make it alot easier to communicate with a small group of people all at once rather than manually adding people to message group on classic. And not everyone is on classic all the time so some messages that may be urgent may not be seen until the next time they're online. But your concerns are respectable. I agree it shouldn't be an absolute necessity but the app makes it alot easier.
If you don't want to be on the Skype/Discord chats, that's completely fine! Even if you choose to join, you aren't required to join calls, use a camera/microphone, or even actively participate on the chat itself. It's there so that people have the option to talk in real-time if they want because it can be easier to plot that way then through messages or threads, but it isn't a requirement that you join ^^
As for staff chats - I don't think any clan requires Skype, just prefers it, but I could be wrong there. We can definitely be more clear about our expectations during tryouts - do you think it would be better if we just leave a note in the thread about whether or not Skype is required, or would it be better if we also explained what we used the staff chat for so you're more prepared?

I understand your concern but I think most leaders are willing to work around not having a Skype and if you feel this way you should tell them personally your feelings. I don’t know anyone here that wouldn’t try and work something out. A lot of them also don’t consider not having a Skype as a reason to not have a position. They will often choose that person anyways and come to them asking. At that point, if you have concerns then let them know because 99% of the time they are willing to work it out. It’s a bit unfair to the person your assuming wouldn’t work around it not to tell them your concerns and assume they won’t budge. People here are good people a majority of the time.

This is a very valid concern, and thank you for gathering the courage to bring it up! For the majority of my time on Classic, I actually had not been able to use Skype at all, and it was very troublesome, so I understand where you're coming from. Because of this, I had a lot of problems when I became a deputy, and especially when I was made layout manager. I felt like I was being left out of important discussions, and only being informed of the aftermath of them. Luckily, both parties had started working with my lack of Skype. I had made a fake email account to give to the leader of the clan so they could notify me if something happened while I wasn't online, and they had moved to Chatzy instead of Skype so I could be included.
Most people will be willing to work with you despite a lack of Skype, but I understand that you feel like you will be passed up for a position because of it. Classic does seem to rely on Skype for a lot, whether it be for clans or telling everyone about important things happening on the site. We do often forget that not everyone has a Skype, or is in the chat. I'm really sorry about that, and hopefully it's something that we can work on fixing.
I understand where you are coming from but Skype is actually great. Like everyone else said, you can keep yourself completely private. It's just a better chat place for people who aren't online all the time. And I personally think it's amazing because I can chat with my Nightclan staff about upcoming plots without waiting a day or so for them to reply back! It's almost immediate because the app will send you notifications when someone has sent a message. Sort of like Messenger App for Facebook. It's super helpful! But I don't require people to have Skype. Luckily, all my staff has Skype! But Whitemuzzle didn't have Skype when I made her my deputy! I had to message her on here to keep her updated on the chats going on Skype. She eventually got a Skype and I was able to add her to the group and now she sees everything that I talk about and all the announcements I give.
Like everyone else said, most people will work with you. And the leaders don't choose someone for a position over another just because one doesn't have Skype. When choosing a position, they look at everything. Overall activity, great demeanor, positivity, and an overall qualification for the position. It's not just ONE thing. Heck, there have been times where I had to choose between 2 or more fantastic people that were more than qualified for the position but unfortunately, we can only choose one person! So how can you be sure that you weren't one of the last people chosen? They might have highly considered you but chose the other person because they may have felt they had more experience or something! If you have concerns, you should privately message the person doing the tryouts. But remember, we can only choose one for a position
I'm sorry you're feeling this way creative <3 I understand being wary of using Skype - I was the same way. I hope that you feel more comfortable on the Discord (I'm still learning it too!) and decide to join us on that, but obviously no pressure. Classic PM works fine for me honestly too. c:

I am sorry about the drama. I let the stress of life cloud my judgement on how I should act or react on something not important. <3 Forgiveness is not requested. I will gladly accept any restrictions, warnings or a ban on my poor behavior. I really wish there was something like a vacuum or something to remove anxiety from the brain. Nonetheless, not an excuses and I am extremely embarrassed.
Hey, it's all cool, Creative! You won't get a warning or a ban for stating your concerns lol! Only if you are being disrespectful toward other users and upsetting others but you were polite and respectful in your responses so we have no reason to give you a warning nor a ban! Frustration happens to the best of us! I'm glad you stated your concerns because then we can improve the site by learning what people's concerns are! It's okay to feel frustrated. It's a normal emotion! But the most important thing is that you remain respectful to other users <3 but we appreciate the apology! If you have anymore questions, thoughts, or concerns, please feel free to message the staff and we will do what we can to help you!
The funny thing about texting, messaging and forums is perspective. I technically was rude to someone. I should have taken my concern to the people I had a concern with.. By not doing so, I was rude to them.
Well, at least you apologized we appreciate that! If you want, you could send that person a personal message and apologize? It might make you and that other person feel better!
