We have recently been informed that there is a very high possibility of wikifoundry shutting down for soon in the coming months. On WCC2 we have always tried to keep our rich history alive, and the thought of losing all of the work that we as a community put into WCC2 while on wikifoundry is very sad. As such, the off site team would like to preserve as much of our history as possible before it becomes inaccessible to us. On Wikifoundry Central, it sounds like that we might have until next April to complete this, but with the site being so unstable it is important for us to get as much done as possible as quickly as possible. In order to do this, we need your help!

On our revamp site, a template has already been created to record some of the most important information to our clans. It is divided up into four sections.

Staff - the staff section of the revamp site will list leaders, deputies, medicine cats, and medicine cat apprentices from the beginning of the clan. It will ideally have the character’s name, bio, and dates that they served in their position(month, year - month,year).

Information - this section of the layout should host important information about the clan such as creation date, deletion date, important traditions and religious beliefs over the year(and when they were established if possible)

History - The history section should serve as a rough timeline of the clan. It will be IMPOSSIBLE to record every small detail, however this will give us a section to record clan-changing plots and when they happened. (For example, when SunClan switched over to worshipping the sun god)

Clan maps - over the years the clan’s territories have changed drastically, if you come across any clan maps while going over the pages for other information they should be recorded here. It is possible that we will miss some versions of the maps, but this will give users some idea of how the clan’s territories have changed over time.

As you can see, this is a lot of information to record, and a major undertaking for the offsite team. Here is how you can help:

1.Help us gather staff information. Many of the clans already have a list of staff  members and their time in the role under the archive boards on the revamp site. I would like gather the bios of these character’s bios , otherwise it will be difficult to know what those characters were like. These can be copied/pasted directly from the clan page’s history. If you would like to help with this comment below on what clan you are working on so that we are not working over one another. I will be doing weekly check In to see how far you have gotten to make sure that we are moving forward at a good pace. It took me almost three hours to do all of SunClan’s staff and bios up until we moved to proboards. IF we get time, then we will go back and record rp positions, but the main focus should be on the core staff members. We are not sure how much time that we will have to get all of this information recorded.


Deleted Clans-
Do these clans after current clans are finished. These are important to our history, but it is more imperative to get current clans done. All info we have on hand will be copied over to revamp site so that it will not be completely lost.(I know not all are listed yet, more coming soon)




2. Clan information/history - I will be creating a submission thread, where any member of classic can submit clan information or history. It is IMPOSSIBLE for us to record every detail of the clans, but I want to gather as much as possible. I'm reaching out to ALL current and previous leaders/staff members in particular to give a run down of any major clan plots, traditions, ext that happened along with dates while they held their position. (For example I once lead WinterClan, so I plan on presenting the important things that happened under Goldenstar) Once we get some information down and placed into the general timeline, we will be able to go back and fill in gaps. Having previous staff members give us a list of important things that happened while they held the position will greatly help us reduce our workload, and narrow our focus to times where rpers who have left the site were leading the clan.

3. Next steps? - Once steps one and two have been completed for all the clans, we should have a good idea of where we need to focus our attention. As the offsite team receives this information from the users of classic, we will be recording it onto the current clan archive template so that everyone is on the same page. I am currently working on adding the official archive pages to the revamp site so that everyone can see what we have finished. We will be able to narrow our focus down to certain time periods, where there are gaps in our knowledge and assign them to our project volunteers to look through. If you would like to volunteer to help do some research comment on this thread so that I know who all is willing to do some digging.
