Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Sunny had to make an effort to keep moving. The scent of so many other cats in the same place felt like it might carry off her paws. "Okay." she breathed. "I can do this."
Jokerclaw looked back at her when she stopped, "Are you doing alright?" he asked. "If you need a minute I can go get Frostcloud and you can meet her out here instead of inside the camp if all the cats are overwhelming you." he offered
For a moment, Sunny was tempted to take him up on the offer, but she shook the thought away. Cowardice would not make a good first impression. "I'll be alright. I'd have to face it eventually in any case, right? May as well get it out of the way." Forcing the trembling to cease, she pushed her posture up into a semi-convincing visage of a confident cat.
"Alright then." Jokerclaw said and pushed his way through the entrance and into camp. A few cats were sitting around camp, some eating, others lazing in the sun but there was no sign of Frostcloud. Jokerclaw had some serious doubts that she'd be in the warrior's den where she had continued to reside until she finally went through her lives ceremony. Looking around camp he spotted Reedleaf, Frostcloud's sister, over in a corner eating a small mouse.
He wandered over to the older black she-cat, "Hey Reedleaf do you know where your sister is? We've got a newcomer looking to join the clan." he asked.
"She went out hunting a couple of hours ago. Should be back soon." she responded looking up and smiling warmly at Sunpaw.
Jokerclaw lead the way over to a den made of branches intertwined with themselves as well as the roots of an old oak tree, that was just inside camp not far from the entrance. "This is the apprentice's den where you'll be staying while you go through training. After you become promoted to a warrior you'll live in the warrior's den over there." He said indicating a den constructed much in the same way as the apprentice's den but considerably larger just across the camp. Both were positioned the closest to the entrance so that the inhabitants could more easily defend the more vulnerable cats further in.
He then lead the way to a small cave tucked into the side of the camp where it ran into the hill at the back of camp, it smelled strongly of herbs as they approached. "This is the Medicine Cat's den. If you ever get sick or injured come here and Graythorn our Medicine Cat will take care of you. He's a bit of a grouch but he knows what he's doing and will make sure you get better."
A little ways away from the medicine cat den was another den made of interwoven branches that smelled faintly of milk and also backed against the hill at the back of camp. "That's the nursery where the kits and queens live." Next he indicated a pile of rocks that lead up to another small cave and then further up to a small platform, "That's the leader's den where Frostcloud sleeps, or rather will after she goes through her lives ceremony. Right now she's staying in the warrior's den until then."
Lastly he indicated a fallen trunk that was cocooned in branches and ferns, "And finally that's the elder's den. Though right now with the death of Sootwhisker last moon we don't have any elders right now, but if we did a big part of an apprentice's duties are caring for the elders by changing out their bedding for them."
Jokerclaw grinned at that. “That’s what I thought as well when I first came here with my siblings.”
“Ah Jokerclaw there you are. I was told someone was looking to join the clan.” Came a female voice from behind the pair. Frostcloud had approached without making much noise and startled the ginger Tom at her voice. Turning around he smiled at the white furred she-cat.
“This is Sunny. She’s the one looking to join. Sunny this is Frostcloud our leader.” He said indicating Sunny.
(do you want to have her go with them for Frostcloud’s lives ceremony. We could use more people in the roleplay and apprentices are free to go with and it might be interesting for a former kitteypet)
Sunny took a moment to find her voice, but soon dipped her head in respect. "It's an honor to meet you." she mewed quietly. Her voice sounded calm, but her tail twitched nervously. (I'd love to!)
Sunny's eyes ceased their nervous flicker, momentarily replaced with a distant haze, swimming with sorrow and regret. "Brick told me that a warrior's first duty is to their clan..."
"Sounds like he might have been a former clan cat." Frostcloud said with a soft smile. "But he was right, our first duty is to the clan and one of the biggest parts of that duty is to train the next generation of warriors so they can be prepared to help the clan as well."
"There aren't any tests, I already said you're welcome to join the clan and if you so which you are now a member." Frostcloud said.
"Is there a name you prefer to go by? Apprentices in clans have the suffix of "paw" added to their name and then when you become a warrior you will gain a new suffix that fits with your personality or something you've done for the clan." Frostcloud explained. "You could be Sunnypaw or something similar. It's honestly up to you."
