Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. Not long ago, Flamingstar had found an single egg abandoned in the forest. She had decided to take it back to camp despite her better judgement. She made a nest for it in her den and kept it warm. There, it sat until one night, just before the Nightclan leader was to wake for her duties, she heard a light peck followed by cracking. Her ears twitched before her eyes shot open. She quickly rose to her paws and over to the nest. "The egg! It's hatching!" She exclaimed, her voice echoing through the main cavern. She leaned in, the anticipation clawing at her as she waited to see what was inside the egg she had been caring for.

Rainfrost heard Flamingstar's loud exclamation and pricked her ears. She had been napping and now was roused from her pleasant sleep. "All I can say is that it better not be a snake's egg," she meowed to no one in particular.
Umbrahound came up beside Rainfrost, twitching his whiskers in amusement. "I'd love see Flamingstar's expression if a snake popped out of there." He whispered in her ear so Flamingstar wouldn't hear.
"I hope it's not a snake," Beetleflight meowed coming up beside Umbrahound as well, the smaller black tom swallowing down his nerves. The last thing the clan needed was for a snake even a baby one to emerge from that egg and get loose. And given the size of the egg that snake would be big too.
Flamingstar watched carefully when the first thing she saw was a beak. Then, the top of the egg crumbled and revealed an owlet. "I-its a baby owl!" Flamingstar announced, turning to the gathering cats.
"That's worse then a snake!" Beetleflight cried drawing back.
The gathered crowd drew in Squirrelleap who moved to stand by his son Umbrahound a curious look on the tabby tom's face. He glanced towards the source of everyone's attention his ear twitching when he saw the baby owl. "Huh, a baby owl." He meowed. "Those aren't very common," He noted, he gently nudged Umbrahound, "Easy Umbrahound, it's only a baby, we're bigger than it right now." He assured his son, though he hoped Flamingstar had a plan.

"She's going to keep it?" Rainfrost asked in surprise to Umbrahound. "If it were me I'd kill it now while it's still little." Now she wished it was a snake instead. No cat in their right mind would keep a snake, not even Flamingstar. At least she hoped she wouldn't keep a snake. But what would stop her from going out and finding another egg? The gray she cat gave an involuntary shutter.
Umbrahound shook his head. "I think she's officially lost her mind" he whispered in Rainfrost's ear.
"She's probably hungry!" Flamingstar decided, pushing passed her subjects to the fresh-kill pile and bringing back a mouse for the owlet. She began pulling off pieces of meat and feeding it to the baby owl. "She will make a great pet and be so helpful."

"You know, I think you're right," Rainfrost replied as she watched Flamingstar act as if she had actually given birth to the evil little creature. Looking around to make sure no one else could hear their conversation, she asked, "Why would any cat in their right mind want to keep a predator like that around?"
"Well, no one ever said Flamingstar was in her right mind." Umbrahound responded with an amusing twitch of his whiskers. It was true, it seemed Flamingstar was losing her mind more and more each day. She wasn't the same leader she was when she first came into position. Perhaps it must have been the stress of being leader. She was still plenty harsh but something about her had also softened and now she was keeping predators as pets. "At least it's not an alligator. I've heard about those. They live in ponds and small lakes and are like giant lizards with sharp teeth! But, then again, I wouldn't put it passed Flamingstar to bring one home."

"Alligator?" Rainfrost meowed. "I don't think I'd ever want to meet up with one of those." In her mind she pictured the small lizards she had seen in the forest many times bigger than they actually are. "I certainly hope she doesn't ever bring one of those things into camp. I think I'd rather face a snake. At least they're not usually bigger than a cat."
