Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(We're just going to start this as if ceremonies already happened xD)
Fairytalepaw opened his eyes and fastened a tight grin, today was his first day as a true medicine cat apprentice. He walked past his parents and kicked up a mouse from the freshkill pile, catching it in his mouth. He muffled a good morning to his family before trotting up to the medicine cat den. The sun was shining on him today, he could feel adventure in the air, destiny stirring inside of him. Today everything was going to change, he couldn't be more ready!
Walking through the doors he brandished a new coat of fur. He had always been short furred from pulling out the hair along his body, but since working beside Yellowmoon and Brakewings he didn't feel anxious anymore. Now his fur was able to grow out crimson and long, he didn't look half sickly and ugly as he had before as a kit. Fairytalepaw placed down the mouse in front of Brakewings, "Good morning Brakewings! I brought you some breakfast for our first day as-"
Suddenly he was aware of another apprentice in the den, Darkpaw, his first patient no doubt. "Wow, our first patient too! Yikes, I'm sorry you got hurt on your first day of training already, Darkpaw."
Yellowmoon yawned, she was a fluffy ragdoll with narrowed menacing diva eyes that burned a brilliant yellow hue. Her transparent form thickened to reveal herself to the other apprentices, "Brakewings, why don't you tell Fairytalekit."
A deeply troubled expression creased his face as the medicine cat addressed his guardian. "He's been doing much better since we started working together," he murmured, "and I don't want to ruin that. I can't handle two apprentices at once, though, not if they're both full time." Brakewings sighed heavily. They had been over this before and he knew they were making the right choice, but that didn't make it easy. He liked the little tom and didn't want to hurt his feelings. He fell silent as Fairytalepaw entered the den, his heart already breaking at how eager he was.
"Thank you, Brakewings, that was very nice of you." The medicine cat drew the prey close with a paw. He wasn't feeling very hungry, not facing this decision, but he wouldn't waste prey. He remembered how difficult it was to catch. "Look, Fairytalepaw, we need to talk. You're a very smart young cat," he praised, "but we both know about your ... condition ... and I've been thinking. Darkpaw is going to be my apprentice for now, because I have a different - very special - job for you." The dark ginger tom smiled warmly, feeling sick to his stomach, but determined. He patted the tom gently on the back. "You're going to be a warrior apprentice now. You'll still be here to help Darkpaw learn, but your focus will be on warrior training. I used to be a warrior first too, and I think it'll help you. As soon as Darkpaw gets her full name, you'll get to be the medicine cat apprentice again," Brakewings promised. "Okay?"

OOp I'm even more late LOL
Darkpaw's golden eyes cut over to the tom, a sneer in their depths but an otherwise emotionless expression on her face. "I'm sorry you got hurt on your first day of training already, Darkpaw." A small smile slipped onto the corner of her mouth, and for a moment, the sneer finally met her other features before it quickly disappeared. She would remember that bold, overly giddy statement later on. Her gaze switched to Yellowmoon and lingered as she spoke for a moment before moving to Brakewings, her new mentor. Disgust at his pity for Fairytalekit swirled in her belly but she ignored it until the very last word. Hungrily, her eyes watched Fairytalekit's face to see how he would react.
Fairytalepaw stepped back from Brakewings, but lost his footing and collapsed onto the floor. Everything felt so wrong suddenly. Despite the momentary embarrassment he looked down at his paws and picked himself back up. "I don't understand, my condition is great though, I can't feel pain, it's a super power. A-And what does Darkpaw have that I don't, I'm four days older than her."
He felt comforted by the fact that Brakewings had been a warrior first, that wasn't a lie. He definitely believed that Brakewings saw a different medicine cat path for him, but he still didn't want it. He wanted to be a medicine cat now, he wanted to help others like Brakewing's helped him.
"Your super power, as you call it is why you're going down a different path. Darkpaw needs to advance now, she is perfect, but you are lacking in areas. She is now the most important person in your life, Fairytalepaw. You will be her warrior, loyal to her, and you will personally assist us. Darkpaw's success means the start of your dreams. We've all had to make sacrifices to be medicine cat, even I did when I was alive," Yellowmoon said. Her voice carried a kind of coldness that stung at the ears of any cat she spoke to, Fairytalepaw was no exception.
Fairytalepaw shrunk back at Yellowmoon's command, so he was important, but not as important as Darkpaw. He looked over to Darkpaw for the first real time, studying everything about her. "Okay..." He said quietly.
"You're going to be a great medicine cat someday," he repeated, his heart stinging at Fairytalepaw's reaction. "But we have to do it this way. Darkpaw has to start her training now because she could never be a warrior like you," he soothed. "You're special, you can be a fighter and then a healer. It'll give you a chance to learn how injuries really work since you can't feel pain. Then you'll be an even better healer."
He could only hope his words helped. Brakewings couldn't imagine how the young cat must be feeling. "Why don't we all start some training right now? It'll help you feel better."
Fairytalepaw didn't feel any comfort in his mentors words, but he nodded. Even if it wasn't comforting, it was fair, if Brakewing's had to be a warrior first then that's what he would have to do too. "Okay, let's start training," He said with a nod.
Yellowmoon was lounging leisurely across a large rock in the medicine cat den. Her yellow gaze flicking to Brakewing's, "You pity him too much, he has a greater purpose than any of us are capable of. Now when Darkpaw needs to learn a complex healing process Fairytalepaw can be injured without any suffering and Darkpaw can fix the damage while also gaining knowledge. Plus he doubles as a body guard for us and can clean up the medicine cat den without questioning whatever he finds," She said thoughtfully. "Just don't forget his place, not everyone is destined for greatness like you are, even if that truth hurts," She said soothingly to Brakewing's.
Brakewings headed over to stand beside Yellowmoon, busying himself with looking through his herb stores while they spoke. "Perhaps," he replied lowly. He felt a twinge of doubt at the thought of hurting the young apprentice. Even if Fairytalepaw wouldn't feel the procedure, Brakewings didn't have the heart to injury him just to learn more. It felt cruel. If it would help prepare his clan, though...
"I know, Yellowmoon." He blinked up at her. His sister's demise had been a hard reminder that not everyone shared his destiny. She was right, he couldn't let his sympathy blind him to reality. They needed the painless apprentice, and babying him wouldn't help. "I'll keep a better hold on myself."
He selected a few flowers and retreated to the pair of apprentices. He set down a yellow flower in front of Fairytalepaw and a purple one before Darkpaw. "Do you know what this is?"
Fairytalepaw raised his paw immediately, "MARIGOLD!" He cried out enthusiastically with the biggest smile on his face. He seemed excited just to be quizzed about anything medicine cat related.
