(huh, i feel... connected to this event somehow. oh well, must be nothing. anyway, this event is part of the Strawberry Moon Festival. You have someone you want to impress? Well, go pick a bunch of strawberries for them to show them how you really feel. the more you can bring them, the more impressed they'll be)
It was a ... different tradition. Even Nereus thought it was a bit different. But it was a quiet tradition, one that he carried for a long time before suggesting the event to Leviathan. An old custom he hadn't seen in a long time. Part of his heart ached just smelling them, thinking of the time he carried enough strawberries to break his back only to get his heart broken too. But the fields were bursting, a gift from Selene.
There were no rules to explain, he was far from a romantic these days anyway. So long as no one stole from the others, there should be no trouble. The gray tom had spent the last few days weaving baskets for the suitors. And he handed each out with a smile and a quiet 'good luck'. Like he didn't know what else to say but to hurry them along.

Cinderwraith had ignored her sister's grumbling leading up to the Strawberry Festival, and was finally glad to break off from Wisp and join the small procession leading to the berry patch. She was what one might call a romantic, and the idea of picking berries under the moon for her future sweetheart just filled her with twitterpated joy. Now, as to who her sweetheart was... She cast her mind back, trying and failing to think of a particular tom that really piqued her interested, but gave a shrug as she took the basket from Nereus and offered him a bright grin instead. "Wish me luck!" she purred, bounding away before he could really get a word in edgewise.
When Nereus came to him with this idea it wasn't hard to convince him to go along with it. It had been a long time since MoonClan had any fun celebrations to just wind down and have fun, and with how sudden this one was he was mildly they managed to pull it togethjer so quickly but, seeing his clan buzzing with excitement made him confident he had made the right choice. "Looks like everyone is enjoying themselves, good work." the black and white tom purred as he took his basket. "Wish me luck, I'm going to need it" he sighed. He had a long day ahead of him, not only was he inclined to pick berries for Constantine but, he was still jumping through hoops trying to make it up to Avette for letting Shae join.
Silverstreak hadn't been sent on another mission so he figured this would be a good opportunity for some rest and relaxation. The idea of a strawberry harvesting contest intrigued him though. It was a new but strange "tradition". From what he heard, it was more focused on impressing a significant other with how many you could gather but, unfortunately, Silverstreak was a lone ranger. Despite that though, that wasn't going to stop. Strawberries were more than enough sweetness to him. Grabbing a basket and nodding his thanks to Nereus, he set out for a treat.

No matter what he did, Hywel couldn't quite convince Rhiannon that the stawberry picking would be fun. The she-cat apparently 'didn't believe in love' and 'thought this was a stupid way to waste time' which frankly, Hywel didn't quite believe the moody she-cat, but hey, whatever. He had never been able to force her mind on anything, and well, if she didn't believe in love or attraction, he certainly thought it was plausible...or at least, he hadn't made up his mind yet about this. Still, this was an activity he didn't mind; it seemed kind of fun, actually.
He didn't have anyone to impress really, but if Rhiannon wasn't going to join in, he was going to at least bring her a couple, and maybe if he had spares, he'd share them with some of the others. He still felt like he didn't know enough of his clanmates to feel comfortable here, and it was always good to land on their good side for a first impression, at least.

"Who're you gonna try to impress?" Cinderwraith hadn't gotten far with her basket when Hywel caught up, his longer strides eating up the distance in a way her shorter legs couldn't. "Everyone out here is here for a reason, after all." The black-and-white she-cat fell into step beside Hywel and began to amiably chatter, mostly filling the silence and saying little of consequence. "You're pretty new, right? Have you ever had a strawberry? They're the best fruit, in my humble opinion. I'll take meat over fruit any day, but strawberries are the best out of all non-meat products."
Avette mostly felt the same way as her bishop did; this event was a waste of her time, and she had better things to do. Still, she was here. The event she had chaired was already over, which meant she had no other places to be other than a romantic event. Of course, she had no love interest, no crush to speak of, and she doubted that would change any time soon. Instead, she was going on the hunt for each of her bishops. They had all been working relatively hard lately, and the she-cat felt that she owed it to them to thank each of them somehow. This was her first try, even though it was clear that she wasn't in love with any of those just below her in the hierarchy. She let out a sigh, before finding herself located as far away from the others as possible.
Kawamura shifted his weight awkwardly. Was this too much? Was he being too forward? They'd only just gotten to know each other - maybe he shouldn't. Yet, he couldn't help but think that maybe this was what he needed to take the next step with Aquamarine. He twitched his tail in anticipation as he fought the urge to run back to camp. No, Kawamura, this would be good.
A little black cotton ball of a cat nosed her way to the front of the line so that she was standing in front of Nereus, eager to get her basket from the new medium. Though she was the size of an apprentice Loki was nearly full grown though no one would guess that by looking at her. Normally she wouldn't bother with these kind of events, or anything that forced any sort of social interaction with others. Something about the idea of leisurely picking berries was just appealing to her. "Where did you come up with this tradition?" she asked the gray tom, making a point not to look at him.

Hywel blinked at the cat that had joined him, and with a chuckle, he continued forward. "Not so much impress, more like appease," he spoke with a humour in his tone, "my sister's being a little brat so you know, maybe this'll cheer her up. Doubt it though. She's...not a believer in love, let's just say." He had never eaten a strawberry. Frankly, he had rarely eaten anything outside of the fish from the loch and the prey they caught in the forest or the occasional human food scraps. Fruit and berries? That was definitely new. He wasn't opposed to it, it was just...new.
"I've never had any fruit before," he admitted, "I'm curious though. I guess I'll trust your word on the strawberries. To be honest, I don't even know what they look like."

Nereus shifted from what foot to the other, handing out baskets with a nod. It was all he was here for. "Good luck then, sir." He said to Leviathan as the Cardinal took his basket. For the most part, it went about as he expected. Each at least offering the new Medium a smile or a nod. And that was fine, it let him keep playing with whatever he could get his paws on. To curb the restlessness. His flicking tailtip had caught his attention when someone spoke up to him. Snapped back to reality, he quickly noticed how much she was avoiding his gaze, maybe even him in general. He cared, but he wasn't gonna say anything. "Oh, this? It's just an old tradition from my last group." He answered, voice smooth but quiet.
