Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The dark gray and black striped tom moved through the camp comfortably, nodding at his new clanmates as he went along. Beestripe was born a clan cat and he was comfortable already in the group. While he knew his mate felt nervous in a clan environment, he was sure she would warm up eventually as he had done. After all, he should have gone back to SpringClan when they decided to rejoin a group. Perhaps it was strange that he would pick a nomadic group over his old home. But he wanted to place himself somewhere that he didn't have an advantage over Lamb, and it just so happened that SwiftClan was openly accepting new cats into the fold.
As he reached the nursery, Beestripe noticed one of the queens not speaking with anyone else at the moment. He approached her with a friendly demeanor. "Hello, Ophelia," he purred. "How are you and the kits today?"
Ophelia, who'd been watching and mesmerized by the clan life go by, was startled by someone speaking to her. It wasn't as though no one had, no the clan had been more than welcoming to her, but this kind of life was still new to her. She'd been lucky to find it when she had, or she may have died out in the woods while pregnant with her two little ones. Lucky was on her side though when a cat from SwiftClan found her, feed her, and brought her home. "Oh! Quite well. The little ones are down for a nap at the moment so I figured I'd come out and enjoy then sunlight. It's so nice here, everyone's so nice here." It kind of amazed her, especially after all the stuff that she'd heard her neighbor ay about forest cats. Starmie wasn't kind with her talk about cats that lived in the forest and it'd lead the young mother to believe that they were all evil, ruthless, murders.
The deputy chuckled. "Then I'd say you're having quite the relaxing day so far." Beestripe didn't actually know whether he or Ophelia was newer to the clan, but regardless, he wanted to make sure his clanmate felt welcome. "And I am so happy that SwiftClan is treating you well. Can I get you a piece of prey? Are you hungry?"
Ophelia smiled, "that would be lovely! Care to sit with me and enjoy it?" The queen motioned to the space beside her for the tom to claim after he came back with their meal. The company was good to have, especially to a she-cat like her that craved conversation.

In walked a grey and silver tabby, grey eyes shining in the sunlight and some prey in his mouth from his mornings hunt. Walking over to the prey pile Intrepidsoul walked over and dropped the few pieces of prey he had caught, pleased to see some felines up and enjoying the daylight as well. With a polite nod the tom gave a warm welcome. "Good morning Ophelia, good morning Beestripe. I see your both having a good conversation and will not interrupt you. Feel free to have some of that prey, the fresher the better!"
The tom knew of Beestripe as the deputy but they hadn't interacted all too much, and he had heard of Ophelia from Brownie. The tom had spotted the she cat once or twice in the nursery during his visits with his friend but didn't wish to bother Ophelia when she had her kits to take care of.
"That would be great," Beestripe said to Ophelia, turning to grab them both some food. He noticed another clanmate bringing in prey to the camp and waved back at the warrior with his tail as he was greeted. The dark gray tabby padded up to the prey pile and accepted the fresh piece for Ophelia and something small from the bottom for himself, but instead of turning to leave, he asked Intrepidsoul, "Would you care to join us? I promise you are not interrupting anything." Beestripe strongly desired to get to know his clanmates, especially if he was able to command them. It was only fair to them, and plus he just genuinely cared.

Intrepidsoul paused in his pawsteps when he heard the offer and turned around. "I wouldn't mind joining you guys, as long as I am not bothering you two." Walking over the tom grabbed himself a small mouse and sat next to the queen.
"Of course not! The more the merrier! Besides you can all tell me more about 'clan life'. I'm afraid I don't really know much about it or what it's all about, besides that I'm now apart of it." Ophelia had arrived in SwiftClan only about a week before her kits were born and in that time, she'd stayed confined to the nursery. Partially because she was scared of this new life, overwhelmed by it all, and lastly, that she had no idea what she was doing. It was a completely different world than where she came from, or even what she'd heard about clan life from her twoleg nest. To think, these wonders existed!

"Well I wouldn't say I am a natrual born warrior here but I've been around her long enough to hopefully answer some questions ag the very least." Intrepidsoul gave a small chuckle at this,"But I will say this is one of the best and safest places I've ever lived in most definitely. Plus it helps you have other cats to help rely on and they can rely on you in return." Indeed the clan life wasnt too bad, the tom had no regrets about joinging this place.
Beestripe's tail thrashed back in forth with happiness. He loved seeing his clanmates interact like this. So clan-like. So loving. The striped tom grabbed two pieces of prey from the top of the pile - fresh was best! - and placed the larger of the two in front of Ophelia. Beestripe kept quiet as they spoke, just listening to them for the moment as he began his meal. He only joined in the conversation after Intrepidsoul had mentioned how safe he felt in SwiftClan. "I am so pleased to hear that you feel that way about the clan," he purred at the tom before turning to the queen. "And Ophelia, I've lived in a clan almost my whole life. My mate hasn't. She's just as nervous as you are, I'm sure! Anything you need at all, please don't hesitate to talk to me about it. I'm here to help."
"Thank you, thank you both!" Ophelia smiled at them, please to hear that such kind cats lived in her clan. "Would you tell me about how clan life works? Tasks? Roles? All of that? I'm afraid the information I received before this is false, as I've learned since living here." The queen had learned all she knew about the forest and its companions from her neighbor, Starmie. Nowthat she-cat hated the forest with a passion and wouldn't even leave her yard! But to see the wonders out here in her new life, just made Ophelia want to see more.

"Hmmm...well before this I was a traveler. Uh the clan is very intimate in the fact that we all work together to survive. Like the queens and elders rely on us warriors. We rely on the medicine cat for healing and we rely on the leader to guide us. The leader relys on all of us to work together to make this clan as a family. This isn't like a rouge or loner pack. Never be afraid to ask help if needed. As far as warrior roles go I know we hunt, we gather if needed, we fight to protect those we love, and we work together to make friends and families. I don't know much about the medicine cat or leadership but thats what I've learned from my short time here." Intrepidsoul gave a small lick to his paw and wiped his face, calm as usual as ever.
Beestripe was curious. "Intrepidsoul gave a very accurate description of life here. But what did you learn about clans before you lived here?" he asked Ophelia. There was no hint of edge nor offense to his voice, merely honest wonder.
Before she'd gotten here? "Well I learned much from my neighbor Starmie, but..what she had to say wasn't very kind about the cats of the forest. She said all of you were murders and thieves. That you'd kill me before you would even ask my name!" Ophelia could remember growing up next door to the other she-cat and had only ever heard of the bad stories. But since living here in the clans she could honestly say she loved it and didn't believe a single one of the calico's stories.

Intrepidsoul paused before speaking. "While we are a safe clan and she is partially wrong about us that isn't to say she was entirely wrong. There are cats, loners and rouges, that are like that. Of course not all of them are but felines out here by themselves will do what they think is right. Don't feel like you should ever be on edge here in the clan but always be cautious about the world around you. I've met all kinds of cats and seen many things. I don't blame a lot of the cats being suspicious or wary of others...it's not an easy life out here for sure." The tom didn't want to scare the queen or make her feel worried, however he also didn't want the she cat to be hurt or taken advantage by others that wouldn't have a problem doing so.
Beestripe nodded along with what Intrepidsoul was saying. "That's true, not every cat is kind or trustworthy." Beestripe would use both of those words to describe himself and he liked to give others the benefit of the doubt, but he wasn't delusional. There were definitely some mean felines out there.
"That makes sense. Part of me wonders what drove the ol' she-cat to hate the forest. It's so lovely out here. The fresh air, the cool breezes, the wonderful clan life. I just don't understand. But I'd heard the stories since I was a kit from her and knew nothing else, she told everyone those stories that would listen and even the ones who wouldn't." Ophelia thought kindly on the she-cat as she'd practically raised her and shown her the ropes. But...it there must have been something that drove the she-cat off to hate the forest so much.

"Could be she had a run in with another clan cat or rouge pretending to be one. Maybe she got hurt from them, maybe not even physically but then I wouldn't know. Some cats are just too scared to want to venture past what they know, so they try to keep others from venturing out themselves. Without knowing her I cannot say the true reason." However it did leave him to wonder what could have happened...
