Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
[I'm mentoring two of your apprentices, so we're doing a joint training thread, deal with it c; or yell at me, ya know how this goes]
The Senator waited patiently for the morning prayer to finish so they could begin training for the day. He had his doubts about how capable he was as a mentor - Ebonygold was not a young cat anymore, and he had never been a warrior, only a medicine cat. He wanted Amberpaw to learn the absolute most he could teach, so he had asked one of the other mentors to help him out, and Ghostcrown had agreed. Now he just hoped his apprentice wouldn't be upset that both of the mentors were former EarthClan cats.
Ghostcrown was grinning jauntily as he leaned against the older tom, his tail tip flicking in the dust as he waited for Shadowpaw to join them. He'd been looking for some new fun for a while now, and training apprentices was the perfect opportunity to show off a little. "Ohh Shadowpaw, Amberpaw, ready for training~?"
{Bring on the dual-training! you've got an fun pair here, so i wish you luck cx}
Amberpaws whiskers twitched as she paused in her grooming, she had known she would be training today but when the voice of another cat called out not only her name, but the name of one of her half brothers as well a wave of distaste rippled down her spine causing her fur to spike. While she had been adopted into a loving family and raised by Autumngossamer and Lovesmitten, the young she-cat could not escape the fact that she was descended from Honeysplash, in truth she was a mirror image of the cream tom in every aspect except for her personality; Shadowpaw was another of his children and although she did not know the black tom well, having made it a point not to interact with him or his littermates since being brought back to camp, he was still carrying the same blood she did, blood she wished she could rid herself of. Narrowing her powder blue eyes, the small she-cat got to her paws, the state of her pelt forgotten and joined her mentor as he waited. "Good day Ebonygold, I wasn't expecting to have company during training today." Her voice was almost a growl as she tried to hold back the feelings raging within her.
Shadowpaw had been up for some time, waiting for the others to wake and start the day, he wouldn't exactly say he was excited but he was looking forward to the small amount of freedom he gained with becoming an apprentice. As he padded up to his mentor and Ebonygold, his head lowering in a respectful greeting to each, his ears twitched as he caught the back end of Amberpaws words. "I'm looking forward to training together, they do say two heads are better than one." There was a smile spread across his lips, the gesture only solidifying the genuine statement.
(I don't need luck, I've got Ghostcrown! You need luck cx)
"Good day, Amberpaw," Ebonygold greeted. If he noticed her tone, he didn't comment on it. "I thought it would be a good experience for you to learn alongside another apprentice, and Ghostcrown has generously offered to help support you during your training. He'll teach you anything I can't. You don't mind a little healthy competition, do you?" The old tom smiled at her genially. He was a gentle old soul, and he wanted to finish her training right, but there was more to it than that. Ebonygold had suffered a crisis of confidence lately: most cats had not lost respect for the Senator, but he had lost faith in himself. Two of his sons had been executed by the clan, one of them for committing terrible crimes, and he struggled to trust his own judgment in their wake.
"You're absolutely right, Shadowpaw!" Ghostcrown applauded, not missing a beat. "And the two of us are going to know their heads together! Ready to show that old man what you've got?" His signature cocky grim dominated his expression as the mostly ink-black tom leaned forward to study the little cat.
Amberpaw let out a sigh, knowing that questioning the older toms decision further wouldnt change the situation she was now stuck in. "I trust you, Ebonygold, if you think this is for the best then I'll work hard to make you proud." She respected him, he knew so much and had been around so long that it was hard to keep the glimmer of hope from fluttering in her belly.
Shadowpaw nodded at Ghostcrown, his eyes drifting to the pair they would be training with as Amberpaw submitted to the fate of her training that day. "So what will we be starting with?"
Ebonygold was greatly relieved his apprentice was so respectful and understanding. He was lucky to have such a good cat to work with; it would be easy to make a good warrior out of her if she was already a kind and wonderful spirit.
"Well, we're going to start by talking about some of the clan's rules and traditions and make sure you understand them," Ebonygold began, ignoring the other warrior rolling his eyes behind his back. "We'll do that on the way to the river. There's been a lot of rain recently, and I don't want anyone to drown, so we're going to learn some basic swimming and rescue techniques."
"And water fighting," Ghostcrown chirped in, eager to have a chance to brag a bit already. "Don't worry 'paws, you're in good - well - paws. Ebonygold here used to be a medicine cat, he knows all about saving lives, and I used to be a Mudlark. Do you know what that means? My whole job was rescuing cats from drowning and the like."
