Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Since my AC is broken and I’m suffering in 95 degree heat! I thought I would make some of my characters suffer as well and use it as inspiration for this thread! The season was still spring and it was about a moon away from turn into summer. Even though it was still spring the suffocating heat was beginning to set in. Most recent days had been decent cloudy or sunny skies with a nice breeze, but that morning when Dovecaper woke up. The middle aged tom could tell something was different. There was little breeze and the air felt thick and heavy. He cursed himself for having long fur, because when he left the elder’s den that morning. The heat from sunny skies was bearing down on the camp. The tom’s partially blind eyes narrowed against the sunlight. Searching for a blob of color that might be one of his clanmates. Hoping to convince a warrior or apprentice to go with him to a local water source to get some water.
The weather was a stark difference from the previous clan that Glaniur was in, Winterclan, but he had been around to enough places that the heat wasn't too much of a shock. Still, it did make it difficult to relax, and despite the fact that many others were probably seeking out water at this point, he wanted to do the same. Perhaps he would be able to find a quieter spot near the waterfall, or maybe something interesting would happen to make it worthwhile. So, the moment that the tom finished eating his prey, he decided to do just that, and turned to leave the camp.
Some movement in Dovecaper’s peripheral vision caused the elder to turn his head and look in the direction of the movement. He saw a shape moving towards the entrance. Perfect! he thought to himself as he hurried towards the cat. “Wait up!” He called after the other cat.
The voice caused Glaniur to pause, glancing over his shoulder to see Dovecaper rushing towards him. If Glaniur had been an expressive cat, perhaps he would have been shocked or confused, instead he merely raised a brow. "Oh? Rather bad at stalking, aren't we?" he said, tilting his head slightly. "Or did you just require an escort somewhere?"
Dovecaper halted behind Glaniur careful not to run into the other tom. He could barely make out the other tom’s face. “I wouldn’t call it stalking. More like taking the opportunity of a warrior leaving camp. I would leave myself, but I cannot see.” The elder paused and squinted his eyes to get a better look at the other tom’s face. “ It’s rather hot out today and I don’t feel like bothering the apprentices by forcing them to fetch me water. So I was wondering if you were going anywhere near the waterfall or a nearby river perhaps and if so could I tag along?” He confessed.
Of course, it seemed Glaniur was no better than an errand boy to the elder. Still, it did no good to pick a fight with Dovecaper at the moment, and he was, in fact, going to find a quiet place by the water to cool down. Seems he would just have to forfeit the 'quiet' part. So, the speckled tom bowed mockingly, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he said, "Why of course. Right this way, Your Majesty." With that, he turned, leading the way out of camp and closer to the waterfall. Despite his cold shoulder, he still made sure to stay close, aware of Dovecaper's bad vision.
Ravendagger was lying by the waterfall, enjoying the splash of the water on his coat. Steam rose up around the water. Ugh it was terribly hot. The dark tabby sighed, noticing the water was misting a bit more to his right. He shifted to get closer to it. It was so nice being alone out here. His mind briefly wandered to Airtempest, wondering what she was doing at the moment. He was too lazy to leave this cool spot though, so his mind began to drift off into a pleasant emptiness.
Dovecaper kept pace with the warrior. Carefully placing his paws with every paw step. The closer they got to the waterfall the more damp the air felt against Dovecaper's face. The roar of the waterfall could be heard off in the distance. "Are we getting closer?" He asked the other warrior as he attempted to make out what was in front of them.
This time, the warrior bit back another sarcastic remark. "Just a little further," he said. It was just another short minute later that the sight of the waterfall greeted them - or, rather, just Glaniur, and along with it, Ravendagger. There went his peaceful afternoon. Though, he supposed, it could be a lot worse. Neither of the others were especially known for being annoying. He paused his steps once they were close enough, sweeping his tail out in front of Dovecaper, "One waterfall, just for you."
