Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Frostpaw had woken up early that morning for her check up. A forgotten mouse which was supposed to be her breakfast laid between her paws. Her appetite had diminished the more she looked at the mouse. The thought of eating made her nauseous. She didn’t know if it was due to her nerves caused by seeing and talking to her brother Amberbird for the first time in so long, or if it was from the litter of kittens she was expecting. She also wondered what she would say to him after missing all of this time. She wondered what he thought about her current predicament showing up in their new home with a strange tom in toe and announcing they were expecting a litter of kittens. She had done her best to avoid her family sticking close to Bogslide, but she knew she couldn’t avoid them forever. Especially Amberbird who had became Fallclan Medicine Cat Apprentice and Medicine Cat in her absence. She worked up her courage and gifted the forgotten mouse to another Queen. Leaving the safety of the nursery she padded quickly across the camp only to stop in front of the Medicine Cat Den. She knew there wasn’t any turning back now. She took a step closer to the entrance and poked her head in. “Amberbird? Are you in? I’m here for my appointment.” She called out into the den.
This would be Amberbird's first pregnancy check up as a full medicine cat, and it was on his sister at that. She'd recently found her way back to the family, it seemed to be a trend lately starting with Crownglass and moving on to Applecrisp and Frostpaw. What amazed him was that there were kits every time one of them came home. Seablossom had hers when Crownglass returned, Applecrisp brought his daughters with him, and Frostpaw showed up pregnant. It was becoming a theme. Maybe Greypaw or Wildpaw would show up next with little ones in tow. He just hoped they we're there's. It wasn't the best for an apprentice to have kits, he'd heard how hard it'd been for Seablossom. At least now they were all coming together and could help with the kits, and the cousins would all be able to grow up together!
Startled by her sudden appearance, the tom whipped around nearly dropping the herbs he'd collected. Setting them down gently, he spoke up, "I was just on my way to the nursery. Most check ups are done there, but I guess we can do it in here." The tom had been amazed to hear that his sister was alive and well, even if she had brought a strange tom home with her. It was good to see that he wasn't the last of his litter. Where was Greypaw and Wildpaw? Had they survived the Great Flood as well? He hoped, and part of him wanted to go find out. But he couldn't leave camp, not as long as he was there sole medicine cat.
Frostpaw awkwardly stood there when she realized she startled her brother. She stepped more out into the opening of the den revealing more of her pregnant stomach. “Oh, I came here because I thought it would be quieter. Also give us some space to catch up brother I haven’t seen you in so long.” She offered his a soft smile, and felt slightly emotional being able to speak with her littermate once again. The emotions she blamed on her children. “I heard from the other queens that you recently became a full fledged medicine cat. I have to say I’m so proud of you.” Her smile growing bigger and her eyes lighting up in awe.
"Uh..thanks?" He hadn't really wanted to be a medicine cat, nor did he want to be a warrior. To be honest, he still didn't want to be either and just wanted to go be a kittypet. That life seemed like the best option for a tom like him. Ah, what he wouldn't give to just be able to lounge around all day instead of doing work. "Yea, it..happened a few days ago. I go by Amberbird now if you haven't heard." Things felt a little awkward talking with his sister again since it'd been so long since he'd last seen her. But maybe they could find a new normal while she was here. They'd be spending a lot of time together with him being the clan's medicine cat and her being pregnant and all. "Um..so should we get started?"
“No fair my little brother already has a warrior name before me.” She dramatically let out a gasp grinning from ear to ear. “No matter how much bigger you’ve gotten and now sporting that fancy warrior name. Your still my little brother and I’m only a few moments older.” She commented her trail swishing from side to side. A purr rumbled in her chest. “Yes we can get started. Bogslide would be interested to hear about this check up when I see him.” She replied as her tail curled closed to her body in a protective manner.
It was so weird doing a check up on his sister of all cats. It’d probably be terrifying to deliver her kits! Or deal with any of their family when they get sick. How did cats do this!! With shakey paws, the tom conducted his exam. Three, no...two...could the list just stop moving already so he could figure it out.
