The Underestimated
"SunClan tries it’s best to be great, but some cats need some extra help from great cats like you. Look around camp and find someone who could be improved personality, behavior, attitude, or skill wise and help perfect them."
Tinymutiny scoffed at the idea that Autumngossamer had presented her with. Instead of a prediction, it seemed like the Soothsayer had saddled her with some useless cryptic task. f course there were cats in SunClan that needed to be improved, you didn't have to look far for that one. She tossed the idea around in her mind, with so many cats too choose from it was narrowing it down that made it difficult. She took in a deep breathe, and let it out slowly. They next cat who spoke with her. Yes the next cat that spoke with her would be this moon improvement project.Wait no, that was ridiculous. You shouldn't choose someone through such crude methods, not when she had so many issues of her own to deal with. Now there was an idea, she would work on her self. She had been so on edge lately with the hormones coursing through her system that some time alone for self reflection seemed just what she needed... if she could escape out from under the watchful eye of Oakshade.
"Out of all of Foxbane's daughters, the last one I expected to settle down and start a family was you," Discordantmelody meowed as she approached her older half-sister. She was from Foxbane's most recent litter, Funk's progeny. She didn't bear a striking resemblance to either of her parents, although if one had to pick, it would be with the Nemesis. She had his same short, water-resistant fur, same general build and that same deadly curiosity. Her indigo eyes, though, the color wasn't right but they were all Foxbane. Chaotic. Mischievous, "Mother was just terrible to you when you were a kit, wasn't she? Aren't you afraid that you'll be just like her?" She paused, a thoughtful look on her face, "Which tom do you think will sire your next litter? A nobody like Honeysplash? Or maybe you'll follow in big sister Flawedperspective's footsteps and settle for my father." Discordantmelody was silent for three full seconds then burst out laughing, "Oh, don't look at me like that, you know I'm just kidding. Let's go for a walk."

Tinymutiny had picked up a pebble, tossing it up into the air with her paw ready to hurl it at her sister, but when she started laughing so did she "You really should watch your tongue" she replied a little snappy, but no where near the hostility that she had probably been expecting "or who knows next time maybe i'll rip it out" even though she was laughing there was a certain edgyness to her words, leaving it up for interpretation as to if this had been a joke or a threat.
She clumsily rose to her paws "I have half a mind to tell you no, but some time away from camp sounds great right about now"
"If I had a mouse for every time I'd heard that, I'd be a very fat cat." Discordantmelody laughed, beckoning for Tinymutiny to follow her as they made their way toward SunCan's entrance tunnel. She could pick up on the edge to Tinymutiny's voice because it was the very same one she had in her own. Discordantmelody was more care-free than her older half-sister but otherwise they were very similar in terms of snappiness. Perhaps if Tinymutiny hadn't been so abused by Foxbane the two of them could have been like peas in a pod, "How are you feeling lately? Any pregnancy cravings you'd like to satisfy?"

They silver she-cat shook some of the moss loose from her coat as they left the nursery behind them along with the every watchful eyes. Since the big reveal of her pregnancy and collapsing, it had only caused most of the clan to want to caudle her more. Tinymutiny huffed "Another forbidden topic, don't mention the pregnancy" her tail lashed back and forth "Today is about us, not the kits i'm carrying, its all anyone wants to talk about. If that is what this is about then I might as well just turn around now"
"Most queens love to gush about their kits, talk about how many they want to have, what they want to name them... Oakshade's family seems to like traditional names but ours does not, I'm curious to see what you two are going to come up with. Especially since you don't like to compromise," Discordantmeldoy purred, then were weaving through the tunnels now, in was pitch black here but the groves of countless generations' pawprints made it easy enough to navigate, "But alright, I'll drop the topic. I want to talk about our afternoon, but I don't want to reveal too much, just that you've got to trust me a little, k? You're pretty tough so I know you've got it in you... kits or not. It'll be worth it, I promise."

"Now that sounds more like it" she nodded her head along. She didn't trust her half-sister as far as she could trow her, but a little adventure sounded like just the thing to cure her blues. No more coddling, cuddling, and 'be careful' at every turn. "What is it this time. Chasing away some rogues, exploring the unexplored, searching for treasure" she chuckled allowing the other she-cat to lead the way. Normally she prefered to take the lead, and probably would by then end of it, but for now she was content just to be out.
"Well, depending on who's there and what's available, it could be all three." Discordantmelody was now leading Tinymutiny toward DayClan territory on a well-worn footpath. She sticked pretty close to the border, though, it was clear that they were just passing through. Now that the two of them were far enough from camp, the tortoiseshell she-cat knew she could spill the beans, her sister would never back down if she presented this like a challenge, "We're going to the Black Market. It's in League territory but you'll find cats from all other opening shop or shopping themselves. Speaking of... we do need something to trade if we want to buy anything. Thankfully DayClan territory is full of wonders."

"Mmm" she purred, unphased by the danger that the two of them would be placed in. While being Foxbane's daughter would afford them some protection, the black market of Primal Instinct wasn't exactly a place that cats should tred lightly. Rumors abounded of deals gone bad, cats disappearing, and murders of course. "May I ask what you plan on trading for?" she smiled "Otherwise it will be hard to judge just how much we will need to bring"
"Services probably. Maybe items? Whatever you want, I go there all the time so you can take the lead." Discordantmelody replied and opened her mouth to taste the air. DayClan had so many unique herbs and animals compared to other Clans but she was specifically hunting for the elusive chinchilla, a unique prey with many uses. They usually sold very fast on the black market, "If you don't bring anything to trade it's not that big of a deal. Gossip is the hottest commodity there is. Some freaks will even buy your time. You just gotta know how to sell yourself. Now if you don't mind..." She lowered her voice as the chinchilla came into view, munching on a nut. Discordantmelody's paw-steps were deadly silent as she approached the rodent and then lunged; one carefully placed blow to the back of its neck was all it took for the creature to stop moving, but it wasn't dead.

Tinymutiny shrugged, side stepping letting her half-sister go after the creature she had he eye on. It wasn't the first time she had seen a Chinchilla, since DayClan and SunClan were so close. Trade between the two clans was rather common."Nice catch" she praised, glad to have the attention off of herself for now, and some sense of normalcy. Honestly she didn't have anything in particular in mind that she needed nor wanted from the black market, but one never knew what you might stumble upon in Primal Instinct.
"Thanks, now let's get out of here before a DayClan patrol finds us, they really don't like it when you take their chinchillas." Discordantmelody picked up her kill by the scruff and started running; the journey to the League was a touch lengthy and required them to traverse the entirety of DayClan territory.
