Lovesmitted nervously adjusted the painted vines, as he waited on the rest of his family to arrive. With the celebration of life going on, family seemed to be at the for front of everyone's mind. This would be the first time in a while that they had all been together, at least since Harvestpaw and Sweetpaw had been promoted, so he wanted it to be special. He had invited their children and his mate to a special place, it was where he had taken Autumngossamer on their first real date... Where he decided to devote his life to her. He had been their all morning preparing the feast for them, and decorating the area to perfection. His family deserved the best and intended on delivering. Sure they had their share of grief over the past few moons, but it was time to celebrate what time they had left together in this life
"Hey hot stuff!" Autumngossamer called out to Lovesmitten.
Her tongue swept across her her lips, a voluptuous smile left in its wake. She looked gorgeous, deep auburn and strawberry blond highlights cascaded through her ginger tabby pelt like rivulets of shining magma. Her brown gaze was lined in black as usual, but this time the color surrounding her eyes were like a vibrant comet straight out of the galaxy. Crashing hues of dark amethysts, midnight purples, lightning gold, and phoenix fire reds rippled like unearthly fire. For the first time in a long time she looked like a Goddess again.
She came up beside him, their kits in tow. Leaning forward she nuzzled into him breathing in his scent before sitting beside him, "Like it? I did it myself, no help from Dusky this time. Scarletpaw's been a good advocate for me not to rely on toms to do things for me."
Gingersnap walked beside Amberpaw and Scarletpaw, it felt weird knowing that they weren't going to train together. She always pictured them being apprentices together and convincing their mentors to team up to train the three of them. Now that she was made a janus she was instead spending a lot more time with her mom rather than her littermates.
Harvestpaw walked farther behind, the death of his sister Siennakit still weighing on his heart. The Sun God had blamed him and Sweetpaw for Siennakit's death. If the Sun God blamed them then so did the rest of the family.
"Cheer up, Boringpaw," she huffed, bumping her brother with her shoulder. "We just got promoted, and we're celebrating! If you keep looking so down in the mud, everyone's going to make a big deal of it," she hissed quietly in Harvestpaw's ear and pushed him again. Sweetpaw couldn't understand why her brother was acting this way. What happened to Siennakit wasn't their fault, their sister should have known better and should've tried harder to stay alive. She missed her, but they have to move on, and being grumpy wasn't going to help anyone.
Harvestpaw's distressed expression melted away at the sound of his sisters voice. She was like a rock that could shield you from stampedes and raging waters. Every danger just had a way of moving around him like water when he was with her. He smiled deviously, bumping into her hip his tail curled around hers, "Yeah, you're right though, we need to focus on what we've been given. You always know what to say. Sun God will see by the time we're warriors that he made a huge mistake cursing us like that." He rubbed his paw around his throat remembering the initial curse. To be unable to die, to not have a release from a pain that should warrant death. He was choking to near death on water for a week leaving his throat feeling raw. Even though the pain was gone he still lied awake some nights, replaying the pain in his mind.
His tail tightened firmly against his sisters. He was determined to make sure Sweetpaw never felt that again.

Lovesmitten's jaw almost hit the ground when his mate rounded the corner looking even more stunning than usual. It took his breathe away, only remembering to breathe in when she touched him "I love it beautiful" he purred pulling her into a warm embrace are their children came filtering in "Scarletpaw is right, you and all of our daughters and strong independent she-cats, that don't need a tom to provide for them" he leaned in an whispered in her ear "I'm just lucky that you allowed me to be yours"
“You allowed me to be yours too,” Autumngossamer purred rubbing up against him. Although it made her proud to hear from him that he felt their girls were independent. She worked hard to try to be a good role model, it was hard working past postpartum depression to raise them on top of her job. But hearing that they didn’t need a tom was reassuring. SunClan was a strong clan, but they weren’t good to their she-cats. To have almost all daughters living here, it crushed her heart imagining them going through what she had to. It was why... Images of bright light, shadows, and flames swirled past her mind before refocusing. She did what she had to that day.
"I'm glad to hear you say that" he purred nuzzling up against her "because I have a question for you, but I wanted to make sure that our family was here when I did" he looked at their children and nodded as Scarletpaw beamed ducking down behind a bush and pulling out a painted vine carrying it over to where her father sat, its tendrils training behind her until she handed it over and resumed her position. He had already informed all of their older children of his plans for tonight, and had asked them to tell Harvestpaw and Sweetpaw as well
Lovesmitten seemed to beam, taking a step backwards to receive the painted vine that he had been working on for moons, ever since they had brought their kits home from DayClan "Autumngossamer, my love, my stars, my goddess. Would you do me the honor of marrying me? W heather it be here in SunClan, in the fields of DayClan, or in some far off land, it matters not" he fell into a deep bow "What matters is that I want to worship you for all of my days, to treat you with the love and respect that you deserve, let me show you just how much you really mean to me"
Autumngossamer gasped at the sight of the vine, her heart losing a beat as her thoughts slowed in excited realization at what was going on. If she could feel the love Lovesmitten was feeling right now she was, it was like she was weightless. Like not even gravity could hold her away from her mate. "Love, of course, I would love to go on a trip with you and dress up and have fun with our friends, but I'm not really the type that's interested in marriage. For you marriage is life changing, but for me it's restraining."
She looked into loving gaze and realized that this was one of those moments. It didn't matter that she didn't find the bond sacred or that she felt it was restraining. Did she really believe that powerfully that it was so restraining sh would turn down a moment that to Lovesmitten was clearly important to him. She couldn't be supportive of him with the kits out of fear, but this time she could actually be excited with him.
"It's reasons like those that I know we're perfect," She smiled, "I almost gotchyah thinking I was going to say no right?" She giggled, "Kits, marriage, they were concepts to me, but when I fell in love with you, everything had meaning and weight and love. I never used to care about marriage or think it was anything more than an over hyped display of love. But being with you, I get it, it's a time to focus on us, to cement what we have and build upon it. I can't think of anything better, let's do it, let's get married. ON, the condition that before you make any announcements, I test your faithfulness towards me. If you pass the test, I'm yours."
Sweetpaw was glad for Harvestpaw's support at her side when they rounded the corner and their father focused on his mate. She knew what they were here to do, but still, he couldn't even say hello to them?
She sat down with a heavy huff and watched the proposal. It was so sweet and soft and full of love; her father, smiling so brilliantly as he spoke such lovely words, her mother returning them so sweetly. Ugh, it made her sick to watch. It was a big moment for them for some reason, but couldn't they just act normal about it? She thought Autumngossamer had the right idea about it sounding restraining and terrible, so why would she ever agree?
"Can't they take it down a notch?" she muttered in Harvestpaw's ear. "I think my teeth are starting to rot from standing so close to them."

Lovesmitten felt like he was on the edge of a claw, butterflies fluttering in his tummy as he waited on her answer. For a moment he felt his heart stop half believing believing that she was going to turn him down. When she said just he just beamed, even with her wanting to test him. He knew he would pass, so it didn't give him even a moments pause
"Of course my love, I'll pass any test you throw at me, jump through any hopes. So long as you wait for me on the other side, I will not falter"
Autumngossamer looked out in the distance at SunClan before looking back at Lovesmitten, "Let's do it now then, but to do the test we need to go beyond the western borders."
The tone had changed, she was serious, but more than that distracted by every little thing in her surroundings. Her senses were peaked higher than they ever had, everything felt loud, every step had a vibrant feel. It was like the volume in all her senses were turned up and she was all too aware of the dangers.
He snickered and opened his mouth to reply to Sweetpaw, but fell silent as he listened to his parents. Harvestpaw exchanged a look with Sweetpaw and followed after Autumngossammer. The last time she was this serious was when they were very young and she had told them that the Sun God wanted him and Sweetpaw dead. He hadn't believed her, but after being cursed he realized that nothing around SunClan was as nice as it seemed.
Sweetpaw frowned. She didn't quite understand what was happening - one moment they were all gross-sweet and the next her mother was grim and serious - but she knew it wasn't a good thing. "What just happening?" she muttered to Harvestpaw, sticking closer to his side so their pelts brushed as they walked.

"As you wish" he moved foreward wrapping his tail around her, not afraid to face the unknown with her at his side. He could feel the mood shift, but it seemed to have done little to dampen his mood as the family began to follow Autumnngossamer
Harvestpaw exchanged the same look Sweetpaw gave to him, "Something serious," He guessed, or maybe something to psyche them out... Hopefully. But Autumngossamer didn't play that way, not with her family. He had never been tricked by her, she was always forward with them, honest, direct. He could feel his stomach tightening into knots the more they walked, what if their dad failed the test? Or what if the test was something horrible! He knew a lot of people had circulated his moms dark past, that she was traitorous. He always felt Sweetpaw and him were an exception to that because Autumngossamer had helped save their lives, that she had been right that the Sun God would be watching them. She hadn't lied to them, but still, he felt doubt creeping up.
Autumngossamer turned around to look at her family, they were deep in the rogue lands, SunClan was nowhere in sight any longer.
"The Sun God killed you two when you were kits," She said to Harvestpaw and Sweetpaw before turning to Lovesmitten, "he traumatized you, used me. He should have left me alone when he cursed me on the battlefield, should have called it even when I was pregnant. But you know how the saying goes, looks fade, but stupidity lasts forever. I cursed him, forcing him to have consequences for his actions, to be kind to me, to actually respect the members of SunClan who worship him. In history SunClan will know me as a traitor, but I know I did the right thing. If you want to marry me you'll be a traitor too, if you want to stay with me I'm leaving and I encourage everyone to. Before I erased his memory he vowed to kill all of you. I have no regrets and that night I cursed him, I consider that me being merciful. So, do you still want to marry me or have you changed your mind?"

"Autumngossamer" his tail drooped for a moment, before a more determined look came upon his face "Do you really have so little faith in me? You have faced your worst fear for me, and you think I would just abandon you because of this? I may have worshiped then Sun God but they day you took me to your mate, I promised to worship you like a Goddess" he moved forward firmly wrapping his tail around hers "I intend to keep that promise, where ever you go so do I"
