Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Why he returned to this border, he did not know. The desert sands pelted his fur from the strong easterly winds, and SunClan's sprawling territory lay in front of Omega. Not that he cared about the beautiful, perhaps desolate, scenery. He caught his first meal since a day ago: a white tom. Unfortunately, he was no SunClanner, but it was good enough for him. The tom was food. Maybe he could leave some bones at the border and freak the sorry clan cats out. He chuckled to himself. Omega had others things to deal with than some old grudge. Most importantly, his meal. His jaws locked in around the hind legs, and then snapped the bones with a loud crunch. With the bone useless, he tore away at the now accessible meat.
( oh I don't think it's short! never feel like you have to make a certain word count when you roleplay with me, I am not consistent lol. Anyways you have permission to powerplay Discordantmelody, Omega is much stronger than her right now, all I ask is you don't leave any physical wounds )
Lately the calico she-cat had been frequenting the SunClan borders - or crossing them entirely - in search of her missing brother, Moonlitnocturne. The white-furred tom had vanished without a trace and been marked for death by the High Priestess herself a moon ago. Discordantmelody's goal was to find him and bring him back before some other cat took his life. If she couldn't convince him to come back, at the very least she just wanted to make sure that mouse-brain was safe. He wasn't just her brother, but he was her mentor and best friend. She loved him more than any cat and felt betrayed that he would leave without telling her...
These were the type of thoughts she was having when she came upon Omega and his meal. Normally she wouldn't bat an eye at this, her League blood was strong and she'd seen cats cannibalized many times, but this one was different because the cat being consumed was... was it her brother? Discordantmeldoy couldn't be sure but she didn't waste any time. She launched herself across the border and aimed her first blow at the base of her opponent's neck. She was like a valkyrie, her indigo eyes ablaze and her claws outstretched, she meant business and was going to bring it.
Most of what Omega valued in life, his family, Clan, and morals, had long since washed away. Still, something remained, and it was very simple. He liked to eat in peace. Not necessarily without company every now and then, but peaceful company, not the kind that leaps over the border to attack. So rude of her, and so unintelligent. As much as he despised an interruption, he loved foes who telegraph their next move. He spun around in time to see her lunge. Narrowly avoiding the first strike, he let himself fall onto his back. Before Discordantmelody could ground herself, he kicked his hind legs into her stomach and knocking her off. He used the momentum to bring himself back to his feet. His icy optics bored a hole into her back. "Leave me alone."
Discordantmelody hadn't expected this rogue to be so prepared for such a sudden attack but, looking back, it did make sense. He'd just be in battle with this poor white tom - who she now recognized was not her brother - and must still have his guard up. She quickly got back to her feet and was visibly relaxed despite the gorey scene around her. She'd gotten some of that poor tom's blood on the white of one of her front paws and lifted it up to her mouth to clean it off. She was no cannibal but did not shy away from feline blood. She'd cleaned it off her own fur enough to have a bit of a taste for it.
"Oh please, you've got my attention. It's not everyday I run into a rogue with skills like yours." Her tell-tale bemused smile spread across her face, "Sorry to start off on the wrong foot like that, I assure you it was a case of mistaken identity. I'm Discordantmelody. Who are you?" She was hoping to recognize his name, she knew more secrets than most.
(Sorry for the late reply. I was not in a great state of mind for writing last week.)
Omega expected another strike from the she-cat, and almost looked forward to it. He had a meal already, so she got her one warning shot. He remained tense until he saw the tension in her muscles release as she rose to her paws. Curiosity flashed through his eyes until he saw Discordantmelody lick her paws clean from his kill. She didn't care about the cannibalism. It was the least of her concerns. She attacked him for something else. Maybe it was mistaken identity, maybe not. He could figure that out later. More importantly, she was a SunClan cat. Not that he despised SunClan, but he thought they were cowards, but a coward would not charge him like that, nor wave off cannibalism without a second thought.
His icy optics moved from her paw to meet Discordantmelody's, and his voice resonated with scathing fire. "Don't flatter yourself. I would hardly call you skilled. You're maybe better than the average trainee, but far from skilled." If he knew one thing, he knew combat. She violated or was prepared to violate about every principle in their quick encounter. His voice toned back a little bit. "Discordantmelody of SunClan, hmmm? I'm Omega. I can't say I'm pleased to meet you after your interrupted my meal."
(it's ok, lord knows I've made you wait longer xD)
"That's because I wasn't aiming to kill. If you really had made a meal of my dear brother, breaking your neck wouldn't be very satisfying, would it?," Discordantmelody replied, putting her paw back on the ground and shaking herself slightly. She was a rather pretty cat - as to be expected for most kits born of Foxbane - with a slim, muscled figure and long legs. She was clearly young, yes, but she had spent more time than most fine-tuning her physique, and the results were hard to miss. Her technique could use some work but the same could be said to any cat who spent more time sparring than actually fighting, "The Sun God does not like his kits to wander too far from his watchful eye, but I am the exception. While my home is SunClan, I have a paw in Primal Instinct, too. That's why I'm not more freaked out by your meal... Omega, huh... Never heard of you."
"Hmpf. Don't lie to me. You were aiming to kill. If you knew this wasn't your brother, then you wouldn't have attacked." Maybe he was wrong, maybe not. To him it didn't add up otherwise. She attacked him in a moment of rage. Discordantmelody had a point with the neck, but he knew rage pretty well. It was an impulsive creature, and only wanted to see results. The means never bothered it. The she-cat's attempt to save face amused him, but only any expression of disgust stayed on his face. He looked away from the SunClan she-cat and turned back to his meal. He grabbed a foreleg with his jaw halfway up the leg and placed his paws near the base. A pop echoed off the sand dunes as he pulled the leg from its socket with one quick motion.
He glanced back at the she-cat when she mentioned her paw in the League, and found her form oddly familiar. He loved a good puzzle. "Your pass is quite interesting. Now, how did you get it? Let's see..." He walked away from his meal to stand closer to the she-cat. "To be able to leave SunClan, you'd need a powerful parent. My knowledge on SunClan is rather outdated, but... we can suffice. There are so many Janus out there, so I'd reckon their child wouldn't get privileges like yours. In any case, a Janus wouldn't be allowed to leave SunClan unless on a hunt. That leaves only the Priestesses and the Soothsayers. I feel the Soothsayers don't get out much either, so I'm going to assume they're irrelevant. That leaves two Priestesses: Foxbane and Littlestar." That's where he saw the resemblance. It's impossible to forget the chaos he saw in those eyes, and he doubted any child of Littlestar would attack him like that. "From those two, I would guess Foxbane. Of course, now you need someone in the League. Any would do for that side, but, luckily for you, my knowledge on the League is up to date." He looked her over one more time and saw the auburn rosettes marking her pelt. "A parent was a Bengal or something like it, so that leaves Funk E'tan and Mirza." He paused. "Mirza's a snow Bengal, so I'd doubt that you'd have those colors from him. Let's go with Funk for your colors... and for other obvious reasons."
He chuckled as he turned back to his meal. He had less confidence in the father than the mother, but he convinced himself of his choices as he spoke. "As for me, I've been around. Both of your parents know of me. Funk may deny it, but we've had a few conversations."
(sorry I've been kind of on hiatus lately but am trying to get back into it. been going through a lot)
"Do you always explain your deductions like that? A nasty habit, maybe you would have gotten a rise out of me if you had edited yourself," Discordantmelody said although yeah, sure, she was a little unnerved. She assumed most cats were not as smart as she was but in this case even she could recognize that she had more than met her match. Omega was not just strong but also smart. She made a mental note not to underestimate him. The popping of bones and sinew further further supported her decision. While it didn't disgust her, it did leave a sour taste in her mouth. She didn't understand why some cats chose cannibalization when there was plenty of prey available. Seemed like a lot of extra work for such little pay off for her. But to each their own, she supposed.
"Yes, my parents are Foxbane and Funk. Easy targets, really, it seems the two of them have sired half the forest together and independently." She decided to let the did-she-try-to-kill-him-or-not topic go, to be honest she had lost control of herself in the heat of the moment and couldn't say for sure. Again, it seemed this Omega character was able to read her like a book. She couldn't name another cat that could do that, not even Moonlitnocturne, and this cat was a total stranger, "It's strange that you know me and my family so well yet I can't seem to recall ever hearing mention of you. That means you must be very good at what you do or someone easy to forget." Probably both, she thought, and purposefully, "So what are you really doing here? I don't buy that you're just... hunting. Feasting on a Clan cat is as good as a death sentence for a rogue like yourself. Not that I expect you to go down easily, of course, it just is curious to me that you're here and not somewhere in twolegplace or the outlands."
(don't worry about it. take all the time you need to sort things out.)
"Well, half the fun is explaining myself. How else would you know that I didn't learn this from some gossip or something like that?" The tom's words were barely audible as he tore through more of his prey, He ripped a chunk of meat from the tom's thigh. then his fangs shredded the meat in seconds as it disappeared down his gullet. Cannibalism unnerved him at first too, and he was in the League when he first encountered it. It seemed unnatural, and was unnecessarily cruel way to die for the prey, but he had forgotten those long ago. Now it was more of an addiction, and constant drive to push for the next meal, to fight stronger prey. Soon enough the habit would get him killed.
"I don't know your family well. I just know of them. They know of me, but I'm of little consequence to them." His interactions with Funk were never anything serious. It was mainly some passing conversations with the threat mixed in here and there. You know, typical League stuff. He knew Foxbane far better. The tom knew her chaos firsthand. He witnessed her at the peak of her power and authority in SunClan. "Foxbane... if you want a story ask her about me. I'm sure there will be a few surprises."
He looked up from his prey. "Well, I really was hunting. Forest cats taste far better than city ones. As for the outlands, they've been claimed." It all came down to food quality. The cats in the city ate scraps and garbage, while cats in the forest caught fresh prey. He could taste the difference, and he had no doubt the cats felt it. "As much as I would love to eat someone from your Clan, I haven't it a long time.
"I would ask Foxbane about you, but she has a couple new toys. She doesn't play with her kits as much as she does Glowstar and Funk these days," Discordantmelody said as she watched Omega take another bite of the poor tom. Her face was expressionless, "Why don't you just tell me? You're awfully chatty. I also can't help but assume that you are up to no good. You say you are here to hunt cats that eat better but I don't think I totally believe you."
Her indigo eyes blazed bright, a strange fire in them, giving off a very different aura that she had before. It was almost like she was looking for trouble. Like she wanted to be a part of it. Although she still turned her nose away from the corpse, while most of SunClan's indoctrination never really stuck she still managed to pick up their high standards, "I'm not like the rest of SunClan's cats. I keep secrets... mostly." She chuckled.
He didn't know that. A smile crept across his lips. "Hmm... so Glowstar's still doing her thing? Hmpf. She's been there for as long as I can remember." He had only met the she-cat once in person at a Gathering, and she made quite the first impression. She had a vision for DayClan that he would have fought to his dying breath, if he lived in DayClan. He had no interest in living in any of the clans. They stifled who he was, and molded it into something else.
"If you consider getting a meal 'no good', then I guess I am up to no good." He hissed through his teeth as he continued tearing through the meat until he got to the bone underneath. He lined it up in his jaw and gave it a good bite as a crack echoed SunClan territory. He slurped out the marrow in one shot before tossing the now-empty bone to the side. "I have my quarrels with SunClan, but none of them with you."
"The enemy of my enemy is my ally. So that must mean we're friends," Discordantmelody chuckled, her eyes trained on the bone he cast aside. She still had a long of kitten energy and it took more self-control than she was admit to sit still and not chase after it, "Oh, right right, yes Glowstar is still kicking. There are rumors that DayClan has a fountain of youth or something. Cats there don't seem to age much after they become Warriors. I haven't been able to prove the rumor, though, they are remarkably tight-lipped about it. My theory is that they simply eat better and live healthier lifestyles than you and I."
She finally gave in and padded up the the bone, batting it across the bare dirt ground, "But I like to believe that they really did find the secret to immortality. It's more exciting and not all that hard to believe given how many Gods and Goddesses have their claws in Glowstar's business."
