The humidity made her pelt itch as she wove through the long grass, scenting the air for prey every so often. The weather was getting warmer and wetter and prey was becoming more abundant than it was (which isn't saying much, but oh well), yet Pygmyprawn found herself already missing leafbare a little. She wouldn't dare say it out loud, though. There were too many cats that might claw her ear off if she did so, and she couldn't say that she would blame them. Leafbare had been rough on Swiftclan, but maybe it brought them closer together? Yuck. That cheesy made her cringe. She halted in her tracks as the scent of vole met her tongue. It didn't take long before it was in her line of sight. It was a sad, scrappy thing for this time of season, but better than nothing. Knowing she didn't need to make a full effort to catch it, the mottled warrior bounded forward and pounced before it had the energy to whisk away. "You make hunting easy but no fun, you poor excuse of meat." She grumbled and began her journey back to 'camp.'
Lamb sniffed around, hoping to catch the scent of prey in the air. There was no trail for her to follow here, so she kept walking. Beestripe had told her that clan cats caught prey for the whole clan instead of just themselves, so the former loner was trying to catch something. But it was a bit frustrating because she was used to just hunting for herself when she became hungry enough. Now, she had to keep trying even when she couldn't find anything or else she felt bad. The fluffy white she-cat shook her head in annoyance. A crackle made her head shoot up, and she saw a she-cat walking toward her, vole in jaws. Lamb wasn't sure what her name was since she was so new, so she just meowed a standard greeting. "Hello."

Pygmyprawn's eyes narrowed as the figure of Lamb entered her site. She had seen brief moments of the former loner joining their clan, but honestly didn't give it much thought. She was once a loner too and knew what it felt like to have to get used to a clan and their codes. The last thing this poor soul needed was a bunch of meowing bee-brains yapping at her about clan life. At least Swiftclan wasn't as rigid as the others. The mottled she-cat gave a brisk nod of greeting and with an inward groan at the idea of being social, placed down her vole. "Hello. Lamb, right? Hows, uh, clan life?"
The she-cat nodded her head when her name was said. "Yes, right. But forgive me - I don't know your name." Lamb avoided the clan life question for a moment, trying to think of what to say without giving away too much. She finally settled on a brief reply. "And clan life is good. Thanks."
The two stood there for a moment, and Lamb felt like an awkward silence was settling over them. Perhaps she should let this she-cat head back to camp or continue hunting. "Are you...going back to camp? Or..."

The mottled warrior let out a huff and glanced away for a moment, letting the awkward silence fill the area before finally speaking. "Pygmyprawn. Don't worry about it, my name isn't the most easy to remember." She gave a shrug. "I was going on a hunt, but it seems like there's nothing out. What a sorry scrap of land this is, huh?" Her eyes landed back on Lamb, curiosity in their depths. This loner seemed a bit different than others she had come across.
Lamb shrugged at the comment about the land. True, it wasn't great. But she had hunted on worse before. "At least you caught the vole," she commented, eyeing it with a little bit of jealousy. "I was trying to find something to bring back to camp, but all of the scent trails I picked up on were dead." If she didn't start proving she could pull her weight in the clan, Lamb was half tempted to pick up and leave it. There was too much unspoken pressure to provide for others that she didn't even know. With a soft sigh, she turned back to head the direction of camp empty-pawed. "I'll walk back with you, Pygmyprawn. And really, all clan names are tough for me to learn. I'll try to remember yours."

"Hmph." She grunted at the comment before shrugging, picking up the prey, and starting the trek back to camp. "Did you get a lot of hunting training growing up? I know some loners have to learn on their own, which makes it a bit frustrating after joining a clan with all their rules and such."
"Um..no I..I had Beestripe to-to teach me." Lamb rubbed her one paw against the other leg, a little embarrassed that she wasn't that great of a hunter. "I guess you-you learned in the clan?" She was trying be more social, to talk to more of the cats she now lived with, and hopefully come to a point where she trusted them.

"Hmph, no." Pygmyprawn responded with a dismissive flick of her skinny tail. "Between you and I, these clan cats wouldn't last a day outside their forests and mountains. Their style of hunting is so specific, it's no wonder they go hungry so often." She gave a smirk and shook her head, although her words weren't unkind. They almost seemed enduring, but she would never admit to liking them. "I learned from being on my own. I was a loner before also."
