It was a strange situation, for sure. Calamitystar--no, shrine-- had left his home behind to return home. He knew he left Fallclan in capable paws. Hystericstar would take care of them, in his own weird way. It still felt like a piece of him left with him. It would always linger and annoy the cats he had just started to love and trust. Wildkit, Firekit, and the others... he wondered silently if they would be alright. Leaving them behind nearly broke him right then and there. However, he couldn't escape the gnawing feeling that he should leave Fallclan. Perhaps it was self-sabotaging, or maybe the guiding of Starclan themselves. The pressure had been on his chest for a while, so he knew, somehow, it had to be done. Calamityshrine had always been a wanderer before meeting Waterclan, the clan that took him in and grew him. Maybe that's the string that slowly pulled him away from Fallclan and over to Swiftclan where many of them now lived. The feeling of being among members of his original family did warm his heart and ease the pain of confusion, but was it really only that? He had no concept of a loving family so he couldn't be sure if that was what put such a heavy weight on his heart and unrest on his mind.
He rose from his nest, feeling odd being surrounded by so many warriors again, and padded out into the morning sun. It took a few blinks before his eyes were adjusted and the forms of Swiftclan cats getting ready for a dawn patrol met his vision. Should he join in? The clan accepted him willingly, but for probably one of the first times in Cal's life, he felt strangely...shy.

Mistralpaw was an early riser, as she always had been, yet this morning seemed determined to keep her in her nest until the sun was high in the sky. Her eyelids seemed weighted down, and she absently wondered if she'd been slipped some poppyseeds by Firetooth so he wouldn't have to deal with her today. Slowly sitting up, she stretched and began to make her nest back up, adding the various bits of fluff and moss back until she was satisfied. Though it was still morning and others were also only just rising, she felt that she'd already wasted part of her day and hurried out of the medicine cat den to find Firetooth for the day's instruction. She was in such a rush, however, that she missed the tom standing in front of her and instead rammed into his flank head-first.
"Why am I always the one hitting other cats," she grumbled to herself, backing up and rubbing her head with her paw she she looked at the unfortunate cat. She started when she realized it was the FallClan leader, no - had been the FallClan leader. Unsure of proper protocol in this situation, she half-dipped her head and mewed, "Calamity...shrine, right? Sorry about that, I wasn't paying attention. Are you hurt?"

"Woah, woah." Calamityshrine placed his slender black paw on her head and tilted his own in curiosity. "Yes, I think you may have broken my whole chest! Like the whole thing. Every bone!" His eyes twinkled with humor and after a moment of letting the cheery sarcasm linger he shook his head. "Kidding, I'm perfectly fine." He moved his paw and rose to his paws. "The real question is, are you alright? Need a walk to clear your head or something? I've been told I'm THE BEST company for these kinds of things." Lies. Those were lies. He often talked way too much and got too distracted. However, she didn't know him so it was like a new slate, yeah?

Mistralpaw narrowed her eyes at the tom, unsure if he was mocking her or just having a bit of fun. The genuine playfulness in his eyes suggested the latter so she relaxed a bit, a wry grin slowly appearing on her muzzle. "Every bone, you say? I might have some herbs that'll make you feel better, though I've been told they taste like, what was it? Oh yeah, death." She laughed, unable to keep up the charade for long, and shook her head. "I don't think I need a walk, but I'm going to take one anyway. It'll give me a good chance to gather some herbs so Firetooth doesn't take my tail when I get back too."

"Mmm...death, my favorite flavor." Cal joked in return, inwardly wincing how at one point in his life that wouldn't have been as much of a joke than a threat. Those days were long behind him and he had chosen not to dwell on it. That was one of the reasons he came to Swiftclan, right? Realizing he lost focus already, he gave a nod and swished his tail towards the wilderness. Swiftclan didn't have much of a "camp entrance" and "territory" but it felt more natural for him. "Well, you know this area better than I do probably. Or maybe you're just as lost? Who knows, but we'll figure it out, so lead the way herb-cat."

"Herb-cat?" The question came out in a sharp laugh, as though it caught her unaware, before transforming into a full belly-laugh. "Then what does that make you?" she asked after she recovered her breath enough to speak. "Old-cat? Leader-cat?" She shook her head mirthfully before heading out into the territory, being sure to head south towards WaterClan territory rather than north the Regime. She didn't know the strange tunnel cats and had a weird dislike of them and their digging ways. "I don't know the territory too well, to be honest," she explained, not mentioning she knew the path to WinterClan's border quite well after her meetings with Earlybloom to train. "Though I suppose with a strong tom like yourself, I'll be safe?"

Cal deflated for a moment. Old-cat?! I'm an old cat?! Surely not! As they were walking, he glanced down into a puddle and flashed a smile. Not only that, but her 'strong tom' comment of course went straight to his head and made his chin raise a little higher. No, I'm as young and handsome as ever. Old cat, puh. "Correction, I am not Old-cat or Leader-cat. I am Dashing-cat, or Handsome-cat. Of course you'll be safe." He purred with a wink in her direction, padding forward a little bit as the excitement of seeing Waterclan's old territory again quickened his paws. He turned to look back at Mistralpaw with a smirk. "You know, you're kind of fun, small fry. What's your name again? Monkeypaw? Mistypaw? No, Mistralpaw! I GOT IT!"

"Small fry? Excuse me, Stinky-Ancient-One, I resent that," she mewed, a bite of laughter in her voice. She trotted to keep up with his much longer stride, huffing slightly at the exertion. She was mostly used to it, having to keep up with Firetooth when he took her out into the territory, but her endurance was not great and she grew tired quite rapidly. "Mistralpaw is right, and since you seem nice, you may address me as such. Others must call me by title: The Wondrous Healer of the Heavens." She was lying and came up with the name on the spot, but she was curious if Calamityshrine would fall for it.

Stinky-Ancient-One?! If his jaw could touch the ground it probably would have in that moment. He shook his head quickly and gave her a humorous look through narrowed ice blue eyes. "Alright, Wondrous Healer of the Heavens, you better not change your mind on your name because now you're stuck with it." Calamityshrine was already beginning to feel more comfortable with the idea of living in Swiftclan. Although he knew most of the cats from Waterclan and she was only an apprentice, he found that most of them were relatively interesting. "Alrighty now, what in the world are we looking for oh Wondrous Healer of the Heavens?"

"Some patience, if I'm to gather herbs with you," she retorted dryly, though her expression grew more serious as she considered what they were running low on. "I'll need some comfrey and dock leaves, if the apprentices are going to continue with their roughhousing the way they have been." She recalled the number of minor sprains and sore scratches and wounds from overly zealous shenanigans she'd seen in the last moon and couldn't resist a very Firetooth-esque grumble. "Comfrey grows best in damp places, so I was hoping to head over to WaterClan's old territory and see if there's any growing there. Will your old bones be able to survive the journey?"

A bit of grief struck him as she mentioned the old territory. It had been some time before he ventured out there and it always made him feel slightly nervous. His memory was suddenly filled with the waves and wails of his clanmates as they were swept away. Luckily most of them survived the flood. In fact, all of them did, but some passed from complications after. It was relieving to see many of them living in Swiftclan after all this time.
Realizing he had zoned out for a moment, Cal shook himself and gave her a boyish grin. "Of course these old bones can make it. I just hope you can keep up when the territory starts to get all muddy." He gave her a wink and bounded ahead, calling over his shoulder flippantly, "Well, come on slow majestic healer!"
