Littlestar waited until the crowd had calmed down after all of the normal promotions. Since Moonlitnocturne had disappeared, they were in need of a new janus "Cats of SunClan, the day has come for our Great Protector to choose his new servants. For what we currently lack, he will provide. As you all know, we are in need for a new Janus. Some of our sharpest minds and strongest paws have been chosen to serve the Sun, and have nominated those who they believe to be worthy in their own right for future leadership. Let us not forget, however, that all in the clan are subject to consideration, for it is our mighty ruler who decides all. Janus, please step forward from the crowd with your nominee, so that your hearts and commitment may be judged." @samiam, Honeystorm, Faith, Spot, Jetclaw, cookie -
This procession of oh's lasted for a little longer than it should have as her voice only got louder making it harder for her to hear anyone, but herself.
"OKAY! So, I think that our new Janus should absolutely be Dappledkit! I don't know too much about her," Gingersnap said innocently, stirring circles into the ground with her paw before spring all four of her paws out in a playful poise, "Butt!" She giggled, "I have a great feeling about Dappledkit! Cause she's super serious," She said in a silly gruff voice before reverting back to her normal tone, "And! I think Dappledkit and I can be super duper great friends!"
Gingersnap tilted her head up to the sky, "Pretty pretty pleeeeease with a cherry on top with worm guts and rabbit liver let her be a Janus!" She pleaded, batting her eyes before turning back to her fellow clanmates with a bright white smile as though to say, did I do good?
Dapplekit was shocked. She was watching the ceremony from far away, and the spotted kit glanced around her to see if anyone had taken note of her. Hearing her name ring out from the mouth of Gingersnap had nearly given her whiplash! She'd done a double take and once she was certain that there was no other Dapplekit she was unaware of, the kit hesitantly moved toward the group of gathered cats. Of course, Dapplekit didn't really know Gingersnap or any of the Janus. She was surprised that anyone even knew her name. Her father had abandoned the clan - that piece of fox dung. Dapplekit would never have expected anyone wanted her to do anything important after something that humiliating. But perhaps Gingersnap wanted someone her age in the Janus, and after all, Dapplekit had no serious ties to anyone already. She was completely fair game for, well, anyone interested in befriending her. So Dapplekit lifted up her tiny kitten head proudly that her name had been called and silently begged to the Sun God that she would be chosen. Her life had no future right now, and as a Janus she could do so much for her clan and for herself.
Satinlights stayed where she was, glad that Gingersnap had taken the reigns on this one. Even though they shared the same rank she couldn't help but look at Gingersnap and see her as an adorable kit, though she tried her best to treat her as a peer. Even now she had to repressed an amused purr as she nominated her friend. Watching Dapplekit walk forward with her head held pride made Satinlights' heart swell with pride. Friends or not she could tell Gingersnap had picked well. "A good choice" she purred, ignoring the strange flutter in her stomach as she watched the two kits from the crowd.
Divinehope stepped up with the other Janus, Wolfpaw beside her. "I nominate Wolfpaw" she presented, professionally. She really didn't care of Wolfpaw was nominated anyway. As a matter of fact, she'd rather he wouldn't get chosen. He was known for his lack of work ethic which would mean the other Janus would have to pick up the slack to make up for his carelessness. The only reason she was nominating him was because he had asked her to. At first, she had refused to do this but he had promised to help her with the event she was in charge of putting together. Hopefully he would hold his end of the bargain up.
Wolfpaw had only recently become an apprentice and had always been rather small so, to an outsider looking in, both he and Dapplekit could pass as the same age. Thankfully SunClan cats painted themselves differently colors to reflect their ranks. Wolfpaw's pelt, already long and billowy, didn't take to paint very well, so the orange markings were concentrated on his face and forepaws were his fur was shortest. The designs were simple but looked good although, to be fair, confidence could make anything look good. And he had plenty of that.
The small golden tom grinned crookedly as he was called forward and placed himself at Divinehope's side. He hadn't quite begged for his opportunity, but he may as well have, given that now he owed her a solid no matter how this went. He'd worry about that later. For now he needed to focus on impressing the Sun God and his parent.s Wolfpaw shot a haughty glared toward Dapplekit, his galaxy blue eyes great at unnerving anyone that could see, which of course meant they had no effect on his opponent. As far as the young tom was concerned, he was a shoe in.
Skipstep had thought hard about who to choose and he thought his step son Lionpride might appreciate it if one of his own progeny were to join the ranks of the janus. So he stepped up and nodded to his step grandkits. "I have decided that I would like to nominate Earthkit," He meowed. "I can see his resilience and strength and I think he would make a fine addition to the ranks." He said with a note of pride in his voice.

Littlestar looked around the cats that had been nominated as a shaft of light peeked through the clouds landing upon Dapplekit "We thank the Sun God for blessing us with these cats. May they lead us well and bring honor and glory to Him." she moved forward pressing her nose to the small she-kit "From now on, your name shall be Dapplebreeze" she took a step backwards eyes sweeping towards her grandson and Skipstep who were bound to be disapointed in the results. Sometimes she couldn't help but wonder how the Sun God came to such decisions, but she had to have faith that he was choosing correctly. It seemed that their Janus were now almost entirly formed of kits... Skipstep and Autumngossamer would have their paws full with this group
Dapplebreeze held still while she was touched by Littlestar. She replayed the moment in her head again. The light had shone on her. The Sun God had picked her! She was baffled but not entirely surprised. Dapplebreeze was sure he could see her heart and her intentions, and her loyalty to SunClan and its perseverance - no, its betterment and its future - was etched in her being as tangibly as claw marks in an ancient stone.
The new Janus turned to look at those gathered around her. She threw a haughty glance at Wolfpaw and ignored that any other kit had even been nominated before beelining for Gingersnap. "Hi," squeaked her small voice. The little dappled she-kit pressed her nose to the other cat's in gratefulness. Already, her thoughts of her brother and other denmates were fading as she took in the first cat she would consider a friend. "Thank you for your nomination. I'm not gonna let you down. Promise."
Wolfpaw had to resist the urge to his eyes, "Wouldn't dream of it." His voice was sassy, but he was disappointed, give him a break. The Sun God picked yet another little she-kit. What, was that his type? EW. In truth, the young apprentice didn't have a conscience and would feel zero guilt if he didn't fulfill his side of the bargain. Maybe if he avoided Divinehope long enough she would forget. He wasn't going to worry about it right now, though, as the rest of the Clan celebrated around him.
"Congratulations, Dapplebreeze," Bloodyrondo purred, leaning toward the new Janus after Littlestar's announcement and touching noses with her. For some reason, in that moment, he felt a pang of sadness that his brother wasn't here. The Priest Promised would have loved to see that look on Moonlitnocturne's face when the Sun God picked a kitten to replace him. To be fair, the Sun God had been selecting younger and younger cats for the leadership of SunClan, so it wasn't really an upset by any means, but... he just knew Moonlitnocturne would be upset about it, "May you serve the Sun God with your heart and soul."
Gingersnap giggled and placed a paw over Dapplebreeze's, "And I double promise, right back atchyah! I'm not going to let you down, we're going to be the best janus pair ever. Watch I bet our combat will be in sync with one another and we'll be able to interpret omens better than anyone because our friendship combined with amplify our energized aura. We're going to be spectacular, I just know it!" The flame point siamese said gleefully.
She had been wanting a new friend for some time now. Divinehope was great, but she always seemed so cool and untouchable she was often afraid to get close to her to talk outside of janus activities. Satinlights was pretty and she was the leaders daughter, she always felt shy and intimidated by her too. For as pompous and arrogant as her mother was she was very modest. She was the daughter of the soothsayer, but never valued herself above others, not even when she was made janus.
The she-kit looked down at where Gingersnap's paw rested on top of her own. Dapplebreeze wasn't used to contact that she didn't initiate herself - her mother was absent and she pushed her brother away unless she wanted to practice fighting. But now she smiled at the thought of having synchronized battling with Gingersnap and allowed the paw to stay. "I can't wait! Every cat will know not to mess with us or with SunClan," Dapplebreeze said.
She turned her head to look back at Littlestar and Bloodyrondo. The Promised's words were still in her mind, and every ounce of her wanted to make her clanmates, superiors, and the Sun God proud.

Littlestar smiled at the young she-cat leaving her to talk with her friend Gingersnap before walking over to skipstep, wrapping her tail around his and nosing Earthkit gently, knowing he would be disappointed "We must put our faith in the Sun God. He always makes the right choice in the end" she purred nuzzling up against her mate "Even though having so many young Janus will prove to be a challenge for you and Autumngossamer" Jetclaw @samiam
Skipstep let out a sigh, "Ah well, it's nothing new," The tom said with a laugh. "I've been the oldest janus for a long time," He said shaking his head with a purr. "It'll be a challenge, but at least this time it's not my first time being a janus,"
He looked down to Earthkit, "You would've made a fine Janus Earthkit, but I know the Sun God must have other plans for you," Skipstep told him with a purr.
