Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Greypaw paced around camp, her head held high as she glanced at those around her. The atmosphere was fairly dull and even though the sun was shining brightly everyone seems to be lazing around. She huffed to herself, bored and wanting something to do. From across the camp she spotted her favorite other apprentice, Thistlepaw. They weren't friends, Greypaw just enjoyed tricking and messing with the gullible cat. She padded over on light feet, making sure to put a smile on her face. "Guess what," she whispered, making sure only Thistlepaw could hear her. "I found this really cool place, we should go on an adventure to explore it, just you and me." She looked around, feigning making sure no one else heard; she wanted to give the illusion that this would be their little secret. "How 'bout it?"
Thistlepaw had been relaxing in the sun, enjoying the afternoon off after a morning of learning about herbs in the garden, when Greypaw padded over. The bright ginger she-cat perked up instantly, excited to see her friend. Greypaw could be a trouble maker sometimes, but she was such a good friend, always showing interest in Thistlepaw. She leaned in as her friend whispered to her about an adventure. Thank StarClan - an excuse to get out of camp! Thistlepaw was always looking for an excuse to leave since she was usually stuck in the garden. Typically she left with Lightpaw, but she was thrilled that Greypaw had asked her this time. "Yes!" she whispered excitedly, voice louder than she meant for it to be. "Please show me! Can we go right now??"
Excitement rose in Greypaw's chest as Thistlepaw responded so eagerly, Greypaw couldn't wait to take her on some wild goose chase. She had absolutely no idea yet where she was taking her 'friend' but she knew as they went that she would figure it out, come up with something elaborate way to ensnare the other cat. "Don't be so loud," she whispered, "this can only be between us, it's something special okay?" She gave Thistlepaw a wink before turning and bounding towards the entrance of the camp, making sure to not be noticed by the older cats as she slipped out. She hoped Thistlepaw would follow and be as careful as she was, gosh she couldn't wait to go on this adventure. Finally her boredom was cured.
Thistlepaw copied Greypaw, attempting to remain as quiet as the excitable she-cat could. She whipped her head from side to side dramatically, staring to make sure they wouldn't be followed. Then she bounded off behind Greypaw, tail twitching in happiness. As they exited the camp, Thistlepaw bumped her shoulder into the other apprentice playfully. "Please tell me where we're going Greypaw!" She was dying to know.
"You ever heard of the witch's house?" Greypaw whispered, despite them being clearly alone. "They call it the cottage or something like that but I heard its actually a real secretive place full of crazy things." She raised her voice for emphasis. She tried to make it sound like a cool place, careful not to make it sound too scary for Thistlepaw, the last thing she wanted was for the other apprentice to be afraid and not willing to continue on. No, Greypaw wanted to make this a long day of adventure and she couldn't have Thistlepaw backing out so soon.
The apprentice shivered. That sounded so scary! She found herself whispering back, "What kinds of crazy things?" Thistlepaw's imagination went into hyperdrive. She pressed herself closer to Greypaw as she pictured mice the size of cats and birds with four wings. Her friend knew the coolest things, and Thistlepaw was happy that they were going to get to go explore it together. Still, she was happy that Greypaw was there and she didn't have to do it on her own.
"The elders say it's so wild that they aren't even allowed to tell, they say its a secret and that if you want to find out you have to experiance it yourself," Greypaw smiled eerily, letting the grin spread across her face. She knew the stories about witches and ghosts, scary things that she didn't want to tell Thistlepaw quite yet. It was still possible that they were all just tales but Greypaw wanted to investigate for herself, and what better way than to bring along a friend. "I promise it'll be amazing," she jumped over the small rocks on the path as the house began to come into view. It was rickety and old, even the outside itself looked intimidating and Greypaw could only hope that she would be able to convince Thistlepaw to keep going.
Thistlepaw stopped short as she caught sight of the large structure. There was no way she was going in there! "Greypaw," she hissed, grabbing the other apprentice's tail lightly with her teeth to hold her back. "This looks really dangerous!" The normally cheerful apprentice was incredibly nervous. Nobody knew they were out here. If they ran into trouble, no other cat would know where to go looking for them!
She could sense the fear clearly coming from Thistlepaw, annoyance building in her chest as she realized the other cat might back out. "It just looks scary," Greykit rolled her eyes, "they say that it looks like that on the outside to keep cats away from discovering the amazing secret inside." She kept padding forward, pulling her tail from the other apprentices mouth and motioning for her to follow. "You can leave if you want but I thought you were my friend, and friends don't leave each other behind, right?" Greypaw tried to put on a pleading face, hoping that she could convince Thistlepaw to follow her even if everything she was saying was completely made up.
The bright orange tabby shook her head dramatically. "No, Greypaw! I'd never leave you behind!" Thistlepaw pressed her nose to her friend's flank to comfort her and then looked back at the frightening structure. She wasn't a kit. There was no reason to be afraid, especially when Greypaw was with her. The she-cat took one deep breath and then bounded off straight toward it. "Last one there is a rotten bird egg!"
“That’s the spirit,” Greypaw yelled enthusiastically, she was almost proud of Thistlepaw for being so eager, she definitely hadn’t expected it. She began to run, suddenly aware that despite her overpowering ability to talk she wasn’t as physically fit as she wanted to be. She had a feeling Thistlepaw would beat her and in all honesty she didn’t mind being a rotten bird egg. Greypaw had never been inside the Witch’s house and she wasn’t exactly keen on being the one to enter first.
Thistlepaw reached the Witch's house and skidded to a halt, hopping up and down with excitement at her win. She waited until Greypaw made it before bumping her nose against her cheek. "Slow-poke," she teased, unwise to the fact that her clanmate hadn't put in as much effort in the circumstances. Now that they were so close to it, Thistlepaw felt herself begin to shiver again. "I dare you to go in first."
