Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Amberpaw stuck her head into the apprentices' den. "Viscariapaw?" She called, looking for her training partner. The dusty brown tabby she-cat was all business and was ready to begin training with her denmate almost immediately after they had been paired together. Her general bossiness often got her into trouble with her mentor and even she knew she wasn't a favorite amongst her denmates.
The orange marbled tom poked his head up from his nest, grumbling and blinking his eyes open. "What?" He groaned flipping back over in his nest.
As an initiate, he'd had it pretty good, most mentors not able to stick it out with him and thus he'd spent a great deal of his time as an initiate on his own time, meaning he could sleep in. He still got his work done of course. Just... took his time.
But with his elevation to apprenticeship and being paired up with Amberpaw who was notorious for being bossy it seemed those days had come to an end.
"What? What do you mean what? We are a training pair which means that we train together! Now get up and let's go, the Clan needs to be fed and on top of that we could both benefit from some battle practice!" She stated in annoyance. "Why do you insist on sleeping your life away?" she added sharply, almost regretting the words as soon as they'd left her mouth. Almost. Honestly she'd probably get in trouble for that comment later.
Viscariapaw let out a huff, and slowly pushed himself to his paws. Taking his time stretching out and letting out a yawn before straightening back up. "All right, all right, relax." He said licking his paw and washing his ears, taking his time. "And it's leafbare, don't see much else to do now besides rest. Besides, you saw what happened to Stealthclaw, dream world's nice. You can't get hurt there."
He had no desire to sleep his life away. But he would rather sleep more often than not if he had a choice.
"But what happened to Stealthclaw is the reason we should be out training right now! The more prepared and skilled we are the less likely we are to get hurt!" She stated firmly. "I was thinking of doing some battle practice and then hunting, unless of course you would like to do something different." She added.
Viscariapaw let out a put upon sigh, finishing up his washing and then getting to his paws. "Fine, fine." He said shaking his head. "And sure that sounds fine," He wondered if he bested her in battle training if that'd make her leave him alone... though she did have more battle experience. "Though why not make it into a contest. Whoever can catch the most prey determines how early or late we go out to train the next day."
Amberpaw looked at Viscariapaw quizzically for a few moments before realizing that his idea actually sounded like....fun. "I like that idea..." She said as they headed towards the camp entrance. "But you know I'm going to out hunt you everyday, right?" Amberpaw replied with a playful challenge in her voice, glancing back at Viscariapaw and offering a small but playful smile, which was rare for her.
Viscariapaw snorted. "Only till I start catching up, since you've been an apprentice for like ages already and I just got promoted from initiate. So enjoy your victories because they won't last long," He boasted. Tail raising. "Anyways, let's get started! What were we doing again?" He asked tail end dipping down, having forgotten it in the excitement of realizing he could try and bet his way out of having to get up early... and not doing a good job of betting it away. But eh, he tried.
"Well since I'm still half asleep, and I'm actually marginally interested in it, battle practice." Viscariapaw said. He figured battle practice would help him wake up and allow him time to be better prepared to try and outhunt Amberpaw.
Amberpaw nodded and headed in the direction of the training hollow. "Battle practice is my favorite, good choice!" she meowed, quickening her pace to a quick trot.
"Great, then it'll at least be enjoyable for the both of us," Viscariapaw meowed as he followed after Amberpaw, letting her lead the way to the training location he had yet to visit.
"Do you want to attack me first while I defend myself or would you like to practice defensive moves instead?" Amberpaw asked as they reached the training hollow.
Viscariapaw's tail flicked behind him as he crouched sizing her up, words falling away as he shifted to focus. Trying to find the best way to strike.
She was a lot bigger than him he reasoned. And that'd make jumping on her back harder. He should go for her legs to unbalance her. But he didn't know any moves to sweep her paws.
'Well guess I'll have to just get creative.' He thought springing forwards purposefully making it short so he landed in front of her and he tried to hook her fore paws out from under her.
"That was creative!" Amberpaw commented once she regained her balance from the surprise of having her front legs hooked out from under her. Amberpaw batted at Viscariapaw's face with sheathed claws, hitting his cheek and swiping at his ears.
Viscariapaw beamed feeling a rush of pride which was immediately washed away when he. In his distraction of preening over his first 'victory' got batted on the face. "Ack!" He drew back lifting a paw and instinctively batting Amberpaw's paw away. Less of a practiced move, more like the batting of a kitten at it's mother's tail.
