Alastor couldn’t help the cackle that escaped him, as he stared down at the squirrel that squirmed helplessly under his paws chittering in terror as the large red tom stared down at him, his yellow teeth exposed in a wide unnerving grin. “YOU’VE NOTHING TO FEAR OF DEATH LITTLE ONE! GO WILLINGLY INTO IT’S EMBRACE!” he yowled loudly before finishing the poor thing off.

Cinderwraith had been stalking through the moon-dappled forest, slipping between massive pines like a shadow as she followed her own prey when she heard the maniacal laughter from not too far away. A chill ran down her spine, wondering if this was one of the evil spirits her sister claimed hunted her in her sleeping hours, but quickly shook the thought from her head. Of course it wasn't. This was Selene's domain, after all, and the Goddess wouldn't allow anything that sinister stalk her forest. Still, it didn't prevent her from quietly slipping over the pine needles carpeting the forest floor towards the sound, her black and white pelt blending in with the pools of moonlight and shadow scattered across the territory.
She peeked over a holly bush, partially relieved and partially perturbed to find a clanmate as the source of the dreadful noise. What was his name? ...Alastor, right? She knew nothing of the tom apart from his name and was hesitant to approach him, but as she began to creep backwards to make her escape, she stepped on a stick which cracked like thunder under her paw, leaving her frozen as she prayed he hadn't heard her.
Alastor's head snapped, unnaturally quick in the direction he heard the twig snapping. His kill forgotten, as his yellow eyes narrowed on the bush, his yellow tooth grin still stretched wide. At first he thought whatever made the noise would be his new pray of course but, he recognized Cinderwraith almost immediately. He knew it was wrong but he couldn't help the sinister chuckle that escaped him when he caught the look of terror in her eyes. So she had seen him torturing his prey, no matter he didn't care if she saw. "Now, now My dear! There's no reason to cower in the bushes like a frightened animal!" He announced in his overeager, over excited voice.

"This shouldn't come as a surprise, Alastor, but right now I am a frightened animal," she replied evenly, fighting to swallow the fear crawling up her throat. He was her clanmate, he wouldn't hurt her, right? She slowly rose up to her full height, refusing to cower despite admitting her fear. "You know our code states that prey should be killed quickly and painlessly, and thanks should be given to Selene for her bounty," she mewed, taking solace in the comfortable code she lived by every day. "It's wrong to take joy in another's suffering, Alastor."
In addition to her fear, Cinderwraith looked slightly queasy at the thought of the poor squirrel's last moments. Being as empathetic as she was, it was difficult to be around those exuding strong emotions and Alastor's wrathful pleasure at her fear was slamming into her like waves. Her gaze kept skipping over the tom's shoulder at the desiccated squirrel, wishing she had stumbled upon the scene earlier.
"You have nothing to fear from me my dear! If I had wanted to hurt you.... I would of done so already" He practically purred the last part of his statement through his teeth. Snapping out of it rather quickly he looked over his shoulder at the squirrel then back to his clan-mate, looking almost confused. "I did mercifully end him, he was only terrified for a moment!" He almost sounded rueful at that but, whether or not it was because the animal suffered at all or because it hadn't suffered long enough in the red cat's mind was unclear but, it wouldn't be hard to guess. He tilted his head watching her with unveiled interest. "And What exactly are you doing out here creeping in the bushes my dear!?"

Cinderwraith's nose scrunched up almost involuntarily at the creepy smile he offered her, and backed away another step, wanting more space in between them. He felt wrong to her, and though she couldn't pin it exactly she wasn't taking any chances or letting her guard down. "I'm not your anything, Alastor," she mewed almost perfunctorily, then explained, "I was hunting until you and your prey screamed loudly enough to scare off anything living in the whole territory." She sounded annoyed, but it was just a barely-there mask to cover the chills running up her spine at her supposed clan-mate's presence. "Do can't do that to all of the prey you catch?" The statement's inflection went up at the end, made into an almost incredulous question without her meaning it to.
"Nonsense!" he waved her off with a dismissive flick of his tail. "The prey will come up from the burrows in a few moments, there's no need to get your tail in a twist!" he purred, he turned tail, focusing his attention back to his prey, his sinister grin never dissipating from his expression, it was a wonder that his face didn't hurt from smiling so much. Casting a a glance back over his shoulder at her, his tail run along the underside of her chin. "You should smile more my dear! After all you're never fully dressed without one!" he said in sing-song tone before stepping away from her. "There's no need to fuss! I don't have the time to play with all my food!"

Cinderwraith physically recoiled in disgust when he touched her, his emotions seeming to almost flow into her during their brief connection. She gagged, unable to control the knee-jerk reaction, and felt the blood drain from her face. Were his emotionally really like...like that? She fought the urge to groom herself until her pelt shone to get any trace of him off of her she could, and instead focused her attention on preventing him from causing any other creatures in their forest the same torment. "Alastor," she began, trying to think fast of some way to distract him long enough to get to Leviathan and tell him of what Alastor was doing, "Why don't...why don't you show me what a she-cat should see in the territory? After all, you seem to be the preimminent scholar on such things!"
As soon as the words left her mouth, she had to fight back another wave of nausea. Did she really suggest he go with her around the territory? She wasn't sure how much longer she could stay in his presence without losing her breakfast, and yet her bright idea was to hang around him all day while he undoubtedly showed her the various ways he liked to torture animals?!
"Why, what a splendid idea indeed!" he yowled, turning back around to face her quickly. "I can show you all the best spots for hunting while providing you with quality entertainment!" As if he didn't notice her initial reaction or he simple didn't care. he draped his tail over her shoulders as he guided her away from the scene of his latest 'crime' according to her. If there was one thing he was good at aside from unnerving other it was invading their personal space. "I know just the spot to show you too! If anyone will appreciate this marvel it would be you!" he chatted on as he lead them in the direction of the river. His suddenly chipper demeanor would be enough to give anyone whiplash.

Cinderwraith's entire body went stiff when he draped his tail over her shoulder, but she resisted her initial reaction to jerk away this time. After all, it wouldn't be a compelling lie if she couldn't bare to touch him after asking him to show her around. Still, wave after wave of his emotions rolled over her like the stench off of carrion, and she couldn't help but wonder if it came from his very soul. "I'm grateful you're willing to share such a p-place with me," she mewed, stuttering as the path narrowed and forced them even closer to one another. "Though I wonder if maybe you would be willing to take me back to camp for an early lunch after this?" It was a weak attempt, but all she could manage with his emotions filling her head with spiders and cobwebs.
"Yes, yes of course! Though Once you see the place I doubt you'll want to leave!" he cackled excitedly, it was a bit much even for him but, he honestly had no ill intent towards his clan-mate but, he did very little to console her. Preferring to let her squirm and think he was guiding her like a lamb to the slaughter. Once they had made it to the river he followed it up stream humming excitedly to himself, he honestly about to burst at the seems from his, barely contained excitement. "Ah! Here we are my dear!" he announced, finally removing his tail from her shoulders making a sweeping gesture towards the waterfall they had walked right up to the edge of. His head tilted as he eagerly awaited her reaction.

As they walked, some of Cinderwraith's discomfort faded as she couldn't help but feel some peace at the territory she'd grown up to love. Though he was still touching her, the connection seemed slightly weaker and the sinister energy that had originally been radiating from him almost shifted to more excitement. She reigned her thoughts in and looked ahead when he announced their arrival, finding herself struck silent. Though she'd grown up there, she hadn't really spent time searching their territory from border to border and had somehow missed truly appreciating the majesty of the waterfall. "Wow," she breathed, stepping forwards away from him and his tail to take in the sight.
In the night, the water seemed like black ink, thundering like a storm and misting cool, clean water out over her as she stood close to its base. Cinderwraith tilted her head back and closed her eyes, appreciating that Selene had chosen to include this in the territory of her chosen cats. After finishing her silent prayer, she turned back to Alastor and offered him a small, genuine smile. "Thank you for showing me this," she mewed, her voice almost swallowed by the fall's roar.
"HA!" he laughed, genuinely, though it propbably came out ruder than he had intended. "No, Well I mean yes! The Waterfall is in fact beautiful in all of Selene's glory and what not!" he rambled on shaking his head as if his words didn't emphasize his point enough. "It however is not why we're here!" he announced, and without warning the large red tom spared her one last eerie grin before he bunched up his muscles and launched himself straight at the wall of falling icy water and in an instantly had seemingly disappeared into it.

"Wait, what?" Cinderwraith was left with more questions than answers when he creepy tour guide disappeared behind the sheet of ice water, the fragile peace she'd been able to find threatened to crack. "Why must everything around me be weird?" she mumbled, rolling her eyes. Her options were to follow Alastor behind the waterfall into whatever terrible place he might have set up, or use this chance to get away and find help. Though... He might not mean her any harm. After all, he'd never really done anything to harm her. In fact, he likely didn't even know how much his presence repulsed her and was unaware that he made her physically ill. Maybe she was judging him too harshly? With a sigh, she admitted to herself that she was too soft and leaped through the waterfall, jerking in shock as the water hit her back and instantly drenched her before she landed on the other side. Her eyes hadn't adjusted yet to the darkness behind the falls and she blindly looked around, calling, "Alastor?" fearfully.
(Sorry this is lazy but I'm copy and pasting this from another thread so I don't have to type it out again XD)
The first thing she would notice is the solid, yet sleek ground under her paws. How the noise for the waterfall was almost completely silenced, and how until the chill of the water itself, the cave that she found herself in was oddly warm, enough so that anyone could comfortably spend an ample amount of time there. the rest of the caves walls and floors were polished completely smooth, the whole thing illuminated in a cool blue- green light from the moss that had grown on the ceiling. A small stream divided the entrance in half but, stopped just short of the end of the cave before curving into a circle around the rest of the cave before reconnecting to itself
At the end of the cave three huge stalagmites rose up from the ground, the largest one in the center. The three of them making a very loose U shape facing the opening of the cave, all along the ground in between them were very sleek, smooth looking stones all various shapes and sizes and colors. From the ceiling three stalactites of equal size reached down to meet the others but felt short by a foot. All three were beautifully adorned in the glowing moss that graced the ceiling, making a spot light on the ground in front of the strange spikes.
"ISN'T THIS THE MOST MIRACULOUS THING YOU'VE EVER LAID YOUR EYES ON!?" Alastor's excited yowl echoed around the cave The red cat was sitting ecstatically in front of the sharp pillars bathed in the green glow of the moss over head, his white fit sticking out everywhere, having just shaken the water from his tick pelt.

( ( hehe no worries! I totally get it cx ) )
Cinderwraith was speechless as she took in her new surroundings, absentmindedly shaking out her pelt she her gaze flew from the rock formations to the moss to the tom in front of it all. "I had no idea this was here," she mewed, padding forwards and past Alastor until she stood in the center of the semi-circle, feeling a faint, pulsing connection to something bigger than herself. With it came an overwhelming sense of peace and rightness that she could have lived in forever. "Thank you, Alastor. Really," she mewed, her voice soft in stark contrast to the tom's booming yowl.
For once in his, probably in his entire life the red tom fell quiet, even he couldn't deny the strange feeling of calm that filled what was undoubtedly a holy place. He bit his tongue as he walked away to give the she-cat some uninterrupted space to soak everything in. It was a lot to take in all at once, and everyone reacted differently to these kind of things, and he was trying his best, and admittedly failing to be respectful of that fact. " I saw... what's her name? Avette come here one day when every one was asleep, So naturally I just had to see for myself!"

Cinderwraith didn't mention that it was strange for the tom to be stalking their Archbishop, but instead relished the connection she felt for another few moments before opening her eyes and taking in her surroundings yet again. "I can't believe this has been here this entire time and I've never know about it." A thought suddenly hit her and her eyes widened. "We probably shouldn't even be here!" Somewhere between jumping through the waterfall and finding her spiritual center, the sickened emotions she had felt from Alastor had faded and she no longer picked them up at all. She wasn't sure if it was because of where they were, or if it was because he wasn't truly as sick and twisted as she had first thought, but regardless she couldn't help but feel a little more at ease around the strange tom.
"As you wish!" he gestured to the entrance with his fluffy tail inviting her to go through first. That was the polite thing to do right? He wasn't sure of the proper protocol for leaping through icy water that nearly knocked the window out of you, but in that case maybe he should go first? If he did he'd get to see her reaction to the painfully chilled water and that of course would offer some amusement. He snicked at the thought, and decided to just go through. "Follow me sweetheart! and do try not dawdle around these parts, the foxes like to come out for some quality fun this time of night!" he warned, breaking off into a laugh before jumping back through the wall of water.
