Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Harvestkit lifted his tiny face up from his nest, he had the strange sensation that it should be morning, but it was still dark out. His mind was wide awake, swirling with too much imagination and ideas of what he wanted to play to go back to sleep. He looked over to his twin, Sweetkit. She looked like she was still sleeping, in fact everyone else in the den was too. He used to sleep in the nursery with the rest of the kits and queens, but now he was able to sleep in his mothers den with the rest of his adopted older kit siblings. It was like they had their own personal nursery now, but it also felt less scary. In the nursery he was afraid of falling off the edge of the gorge, but here everything was much more leveled.
He turned and nudged Sweetkit to see if she was awake, but through some twin like telepathy he got the feeling that she already was awake like him, but was trying to return back to sleep, "Hey, want to go check out camp more? There's so much more to explore that we haven't seen yet," He pointed out.
Even without opening her eyes, she could feel the darkness pressed against her lids, and knew it was still night. It was too late to be awake. Despite curling in on herself tighter, tucking her face below her paw, she was waking up and her mind was clearing. What was she supposed to do if she couldn't fall asleep again? Maybe she could wake her brother, but there was nothing they could do in the quiet den without waking their mother. Maybe Flawedperspective would tell her a story until she got tired again?
She was still debating what she should do when she felt her brother's touch. She could have ignored it, he was just moving in his sleep, but she had a feeling that wasn't true. She was proven right a moment later when he spoke, and she smiled. She uncoiled and sprang to her paws, swaying as she got used to the sensation of standing again, the grey light of the den washing over her as she opened her eyes. Sweetkit twirled to her brother and purred, "Absolutely."
Harvestkit smiled a slow grin like heat tearing through metal, fascinating to watch, but deadly to get too close to. It was the same familiar mischief his mother had, but two steps ahead of sly and a half step back from cruel. He gestured for her to follow him with a slide of his paw before as he carefully tip toed across the floors wincing as the leaf flooring crunched and ruffled past his paws. Why did their older sister, Gingersnap have to have a weird fear of leaves she needed to conquer?
Sweetkit bounded up beside her brother, only to cause a loud rustling of leaves as she pushed through the pile. She stopped, her ears flattening at the noise, and whipped her head from side to side. Had anyone heard? Their family seemed pretty still, must be lost in sleep, so she doubled back and this time followed closely in her brother's steps. Every time he lifted a paw she set hers down in the same place. "This is so dumb, why is this here," she hissed at her brother.
"I think mom was trying to kit proof the floors," Harvestkit snickered.
He glanced around and almost had to bonk himself in the head. They were nowhere near camp, he hadn't gotten used to that yet. The Janus camp was so much farther than everything else. That was fine though, that only meant there would be less adults around to stop them. In fact the way things were now this couldn't be a better situation. They had so much more land to look around at with less interference. "I can't wait to howl into the night once we get far enough away from where everyone's sleeping, it'll be so freeing."
