Verne was a traveler by heart. It was, and it always will be; her true clan, if not still at the loch, had always been wanderers, leaving to farther places when the Green One's favour was no longer on them. Still, this was new. The city surprisingly felt easy enough to blend into, despite not quite ever feeling like home. The others were easy enough to get along with; they talked with their claws and Verne was never one to back down from a challenge, and still...she was wary. The endless parties were fun–she really was a social kind–but frankly, the constant tones of manipulation and ulterior motives didn't really fit her. Foreign affairs was really more of Niamh's thing, but hey, sisters stuck together.
She wandered through the streets, almost empty in the early turquoise light of dawn, the sky only beginning to lighten up. Suddenly, a sound made her jump, as she spun around, looking for the source of the clatter.

The constant deceivers would eat up any fool in Primal Instinct, but every now and again, there came a fool who filled them with fear. Must have been the single dead eye still stuck in her skull, that's what Lorelei figured. Definitely not the fact that she had an acquired taste for her own kind. Normally, dawn was never a beast she danced with. The Punishment hunter tended to play at night, joining into parties or fights easily. The small fight clubs that sprang up in the corners made the latter easy, but they were quickly dissatisfying. Like this one today, where the ringleader was such a pushover, she killed him with her opponent. Now he was far dead, back bent at an unnatural angle as she was chased out of the alleyway.
"Man, what a bunch of sore losers." The body slumped out of her mouth as she spoke, the natural green eye spotting Verne. Upon seeing another living cat, Lorelei almost completely forgot her prey, stepping over it before approaching her. "Hey! It's Fern or something similar, right? What'cha doing?" Her voice was almost too high and chipper, a disturbing combination with her blood-soaked muzzle.

Despite most of the other cats–or at least, that was what Verne assumed–she wasn't really much for bloodlust. Frankly, one would wonder why she was in Primal Instinct at all. She didn't necessarily like killing, and a terrible liar made a terrible foreign affairs cat, yet here she was. After the initial surprise set in, Verne's half-lidded gaze held a certain amusement. Of course, another bloodbath. Why wasn't she surprised? From what it looked like, someone certainly wasn't having a good time, but that couldn't be said for Lorelei.
"Close enough," she snorted, "Verne, hard V on that one." She glanced at the cat's blood-soaked muzzle, her own whiskers twitching. It wasn't that she was prissy about blood, but it was just a lot of effort to clean up a mess she wasn't exactly involved in. If she wanted a bloodbath, she'd start the fight, not wait for someone to drip it all over her paws.
"Clearly whatever I was about to do isn't nearly as exciting as what you just did," she pointed out with a laugh, "what did the other cat do? Steal the last rat in the pile from under you? Must be a pretty bad infraction to get...that." She gestured to body nearby.

"Dang, just barely messed it up." Lorelei sighed, mentally blaming the blaring music during the party where someone pointed Verne out to her. "Got it tho." She sounded less like someone that just killed someone and more like an excitable kit. She didn't even notice the inflection, turning back briefly to look at the guy. Well, now the dead guy. "Oh him?" Then she turned back around and licked her paw before swiping it over her lips. "Ran a shoddy business and got mad when I called him out. Punishment doesn't really fit the crime, but he was going for my throat. Shame. These pop up clubs aren't doing my any good, I'll never beat Mom at this rate." Lorelei talked between licks, words muffling on themselves until she managed to get most of the blood off. "Oh well, that's enough for today. You're fairly new, right? What do you think of the city?" And she was off, bouncing to another conversation topic.

Verne was certain this cat was at least a little off her rocker, but hey, who wasn't? She chuckled at that. "I guess that makes sense, you play stupid games you get stupid prizes." Frankly she didn't get why some of the cats remained in the city with their stupid little businesses; there wasn't much food and it was plain stupid to mess with a cat from the league. They had no common sense, in her opinion; why would anyone choose to venture on their own and settle here and act out against them?
"Cats around here are getting ridiculously bold," she muttered, glancing back at the cat, "I guess they needed a lesson." Looking up to Lorelei, she raised a brow. "Who's mom and what are you trying to beat her in?"
The question the other cat returned was a simple one, but one she couldn't quite answer. Frankly, she didn't have much of an opinion. It was just like everywhere else she lived before; cats fighting for the scraps and every cat for themselves. It was something she was used to; there weren't any beautifully magnificent sceneries or anything either. It was just....the city. There really wasn't much to it.
"It's...average I guess? There's nothing crazy special about it, but it's more interesting than fields and forests out there."

"Yeah. I guess. I appreciate the learning but I know Mom can just set up something similar." Really, it was gonna take more than just watching her to beat her. And Lorelei had spent her life watching her. That's why she kept searching these little, shop in the nook, arenas. Just in the hope that some master would be around and take her under their wing or something cool like that. Lorelei wasn't one to wonder why or how they kept coming back.
"Oh. My mom is Senescence. Though she's actually my grandma. I've never seen a fighter like her, so I wanna beat her one day." It was a bleak dream. Sen had years of experience at this point. But, with how flighty Lorelei was about most other things in her life, it was a compliment that she kept chasing after Senescence.
Though even with the chipper attitude, her expression faltered slightly at Verne's lack of interest. How could she not love the city? There was so much. It was always a discussion to whether they were better at the mansion, though Lorelei could not be convinced she was wrong in how good of a move it was. "True, but ooh, have you been to the photo booth yet? It's a big hit around here?"

Verne nodded at that. "Yeah fair enough," she chuckled. She could recognize that at least–her mother and father died when she was younger, but there was an inherent interest to learn more about her past just the same. Everything was always passing scenery to her, after all. That was the fate of all who were wanderers; they were forever seeing their world as stops on a path to nowhere.
Senescence...she recognized the name, though she wasn't exactly a hundred percent familiar with it. It sounded familiar enough for Verne to assume that whoever it was, it was someone important, perhaps someone in charge of another district? She mostly hung out with others in Foreign Affairs, after all; there wasn't exactly a lot of chances to branch out from that group. "That sounds cool," Verne nodded, before giving her a cheeky grin, "any special moves? I mean, I've been here for a while but I'm still learning how other cats fight; it's always fun to watch, you know?"
She blinked at Lorelei. Photobooth? "Not yet," she replied with an interested gaze, "what's that?"

"Well, I actually use a fairly similar moveset to Sen's. I try and stay as close as possible to my opponent and inflicting as much damage as I can while narrowly avoiding their attacks." It was a high risk, high reward kind of style. She had probably lost as many battles with the style as she had won. Though her winning streak was at least getting a bit longer, thanks to some crap fighters, unfortunately. "It's not for everyone, but what I try and do is try and bait them into a bite like this... and then I roll out of the way to attack at their back while they're distracted and OH RIGHT THE PHOTOBOOTH." Lorelei jumped from her crouched position, but only walked a few paces away before spinning back to face Verne on her heel. "It's a building...well, not a building. More like a shelter, probably big enough for like 4 cats. And you all sit in it and it spits out this funny looking leaf that looks EXACTLY LIKE YOU. You gotta come check it out with me."
